The Heliconias have a great potential as a cut flower and for this reason an adequate management of the crop is important. The objective of this research was the application of soil amendments (Biol and superabsorbent polymers - SAP) and the analysis on their effect in the growth of Heliconia psittacorum cv. Tropica. An experiment was established using a completely randomized design with four treatments and five repetitions: SAP (1 g plant-1), biol (20 mL plant-1) + SAP (1 g plant-1), biol (20 mL plant-1) and one control (without application). A 20 cm rhizome was planted per pot and were evaluated the height of the plant, the number of leaves, the leaf area and the number of shoots were measured. The analysis of variance did not show statistical differences (p ≤ 0.05) between treatments for the variables of the height of the plant, the leaf area and the number of shoots, but statistical differences were found for the variable number of leaves (p ≤ 0.05), and the best treatments were Biol, SAP, and Biol + SAP. With the application of the biol and SAP amendments, it was not possible to increase the plant height, the leaf area and the number of Heliconia shoots. Regarding the application of SAP to the not found significant results in Heliconia, it is expected that treatments with SAP show a better effect in the dry season.

The research entitled "The Effect of Concentration and Soaking Time of Pepper Cutters (Piper nigrum) in a Solution of Growth Regulatory Substances (auxin)" was carried out. Research was held on April – July 2020 in Green House of Agriculture Faculty, Tunas Pembangunan University, Jl. Balekambang Lor No. 1 Manahan, Surakarta. This study used a factorial experimental method based on a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 2 factors as treatment and 3 replications. The first factor, the concentration of growth regulators (auxin) (K), is divided into 3 levels, namely: 100 ppm (K1), 200 ppm (K2) and 300 ppm (K3); while the second factor, immersion time (P), also consists of 4 levels, namely: 2 hours (P1), 2.5 hours (P2), 3 hours (P3) and 3.5 hours (P4). The parameters observed in this study amounted to 9, with details as follows: Number of shoots, number of leaves, length of shoots, fresh and dry weight of shoots, number and length of roots, fresh weight and root dry weight. Based on the results of research on pepper cuttings due to the concentration of growth regulators (auxin) and the duration of immersion, the results showed that: Soaking time had a significant effect on the observed parameters, namely plant length in P2 treatment (2.5 hours). And it did not affect the parameters of the number of shoots, number of leaves, fresh and dry weight of shoots, number and length of roots, fresh weight and root dry weight.

The production of quality seedlings is necessary for the trading of ornamental plants. Seedling quality depends on several factors, among these factors, the substrate is highlighted. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of substrates based on bagana of carnauba, in the production of Ruellia simplex seedlings, by vegetative propagation. A completely randomized design was adopted, with six treatments and four replications. The treatments (substrates) were composed of bagana of carnauba (BC) and soil, in the following proportions: BC0 - 0% BC + 100% of soil; BC20 - 20% BC + 80% of soil; BC40 - 40% BC + 60% of soil; BC60 - 60% BC + 40% of soil; BC80 - 80% BC + 20% of soil; BC100 - 100% BC + 0% of soil. The plot consisted of a plant. After 45 days of cutting, it was evaluated: number of shoots; number of leaves per shoot; diameter of the highest shoot; length of the highest shoot; root length; inflorescence number; number of flowers per inflorescence; leaf area; root volume; aerial part fresh mass; root system fresh mass; aerial part dry mass; and root system dry mass. There was a significant difference for the variables, number of leaves per shoot, diameter and length of the highest shoot, number of flowers per inflorescence, fresh and dry mass of the aerial part. Having a direct relationship between the increase in the proportion of bagana of carnauba volume and the inflorescence number, the substrate 100% of bagana of carnauba is indicated.
