Weed control must use the right dose of herbicide so as not to leave a residual effect on cultivated plants and soil. This study ains to obtain the most appropriate dose of herbicide. Herbicide used in this study were methyl methulfuron and acetic acid combined. This study used a randomized block design (RCBD) witch 2 factors, factor A was asetic acid and factor B was methyl methulfuron and there were 12 treatment combinations with 3 replications. This research was conducted in the practicum of the Departement of Plantation Plant Cultivation, Lampung State Polytechnic. The total research plot was 36 experimentals units. The dosage levels levels of methyl methulfuron tested in this study were: 0%, 55%, 75%, and 105%. While the dose of acetic acid is: 0%, 50%, and 70%. Observations made in this study were weed vegetation analysis, weed cover percent, weed dry weight, Summed Dominance Ratio (SDR), and Community Coefficient Value (C). SDR values indicate that Panicum dicotomyflorum weed, Ricardia brasiliensis, Euphorbia heterophyla, and Cyperus rotundus are the dominant weeds. The results of this study indicate that there is no effect on the dose of methyl methulfuron herbicide, acetic acid, and interactions on methyl methulfuron herbicide and acetic acid on weed control in sugarcane fields (Saccharum officinarum L.).

Sugarcane (Sacharum officinarum L.) is a sugar-producing plant and is a food commodity that is needed by the people of Indonesia. National sugar demands are increasing every year. The low productivity of sugarcane is due to the competition of weeds which can reduce sugarcane production. To achieve high productivity, it is necessary to pay attention to the varieties used because they require certain conditions in their management. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of varieties and types of weeds on the initial growth of sugarcane. The study was conducted from September 2018 to December 2018. The study used factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors and four replications. The first factor consists of 4 sugarcane varieties, namely: Bululawang (V1), Red HW (V2), VMC (V3) and PS 862 (V4). The second factor type of weed consists of 2 types, namely Cyperus rotundus (N1) and Amaranthus spinosus L. (N2). The results showed that (1) There was interaction between the varieties (V) and the weed types (N) in stem diameter parameters and number of tillers, the treatment V4N1 gives the best response to stem diameter 1,31 cm and 4,25 number of tillers; (2) The treatment of varieties (V) gives affects to stem diameter and number of leaves, the treatment V4 gives the best response 5,38 to number of leaves; (3) Types of thorn spinach weeds can reduce the initial growth of sugarcane. Keywords: Varieties; weed; sugarcane

Background: Maize followed by summer pulses is the emerging cropping system in many places in India. Herbicides are the efficient tools for checking weed infestation and their usage is increasing throughout the globe due to increased labour cost and quick weed control. Some herbicides do not degrade quickly and may remain in the soil for weeks, months or years after application and may inhibit the growth of succeeding crops. Methods: Field experiment was conducted in a randomized block design (RBD) during rabi and summer seasons of 2017-18 and 2018-19 to know the residual effect of different herbicides applied in maize on succeeding greengram. Result: The present study revealed that lower density and dry weight of total weeds and higher yield attributes and yield was recorded with the practice of adopting two hand weedings at 15 and 30 DAS, which was however, at par with atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb one HW at 30 DAS, atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb topramezone 30 g ha-1 as PoE and atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb tembotrione 120 g ha-1 as PoE, without any significant disparity among them. Herbicides applied in maize did not alter statistically the enzyme activity and microbial count in the soil at harvest of succeeding greeengram.

ABSTRACT Co-inoculation consists of using microorganism combinations with synergic effect that surpass the results obtained with their use alone. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of inoculation and co-inoculation on soybean plants, and their residual effect on maize plants grown intercropped with ruzigrass (Urochloa ruziziensis), under different N fertilizer rates. The experiment was conducted at the experimental area of the Mato Grosso State University, Alta Floresta campus, in a Typic Hapludox. A randomized block design was used for the soybean crops; the treatments consisted of Bradyrhizobium japonicum inoculated single, or co-inoculated with Azospirillum brasilense, with 20 replications. A randomized block design in a strip-plot arrangement was used for the winter maize-ruzigrass intercrop (WMRI); the treatments consisted of combination of residual effect of inoculation and co-inoculation in the strips, and five N fertilizer rates (0, 50, 100, 150, and 200 kg ha-1) in plots with WMRI, with four replications. The co-inoculation of soybean seeds and its residual effect on the maize crops increased the root dry weight of plants of both crops; however, no increases were found for most vegetative and reproductive characteristics of maize plants. Yield and most characteristics evaluated had increasing linear responses to increases in N rates, indicating the plants could respond to rates above 200 kg ha-1.

Background: Weeds are one of the major constraints in achieving yield potential of black gram. Due to slow initial growth of black gram, weeds compete effectively and caused reduction in growth as well as yield of black gram. Hand weeding is neither practicable nor economical due to unpredictability of weather and high labour cost, respectively. Therefore, application of herbicides is considered as the best approach for efficient weed control in black gram. Methods: A field experiment was conducted at Research Farm of Department of Agronomy, CCSHAU, Hisar during summer and kharif 2017 to evaluate the effect of different weed control treatments in black gram and their residual effect on succeeding pearl millet and sorghum crops. Total of fourteen weed control treatments were replicated thrice in randomized complete block design (RCBD).Result: Dactyloctenium aegyptium (37%), Trianthema portulacastrum (34%), Cyperus rotundus (21%) and Digera arvensis (8%) were the major weed flora associated with black gram at 30 DAS. Both at 30 and 60 DAS, PE application of imazethapyr + pendimethalin (RM) at 1000 g ha-1 provided 100% control of D. aegyptium and T. portulacastrum. PE application of imazethapyr + pendimethalin (RM) at 1000 g ha-1 was the most significant herbicide treatment (90% control of weeds) at 30 DAS however, 3-4 leaf stage application of imazethapyr + imazamox at 70 g/ha recorded with highest control of weeds (89%) at 60 DAS. Maximum seed yield (912 kg ha-1) and yield attributes of black gram were obtained in weed free treatment which was statistically at par with two hoeing performed at 20 and 40 DAS (895 kg ha-1) and PE application of imazethapyr + pendimethalin (RM) at 1000 g ha-1 (878 kg ha-1). Imazethapyr and its RM combination with imazamox applied at 3-4 leaf stage had phytotoxic effects on black gram at 30 DAS which suppressed the growth and caused yield penalty. Residual effect or phytotoxicity was not observed on succeeding pearl millet and sorghum crops.

Dayak shallot has various phytochemical compounds that useful for health; people use it as medicinal plants. The technique of cultivating plants has not been informed completely. Hence, the research needs to be conducted to understand the competitiveness of weeds and the best planting space for optimal production. The research objectives are to obtain the effect of weed control and plant spacing for Dayak shallot growth and development. This research was used <em>randomized block design</em> two factors. The first factor is plant spacing and the second factor is weed control. There are four combinations of treatments between planting space and weed control. The treatment combinations used are: (1) Plant spacing of 15 cm x 15 cm with weed control; (2) Plant spacing of 15 cm x 15 cm without weed control; (3) Plant spacing of 30 cm x 30 cm with weed control; and (4) Plant spacing of 30 cm x 30 cm without weed control. Each treatment combination was repeated three times. The results showed that a combination of plant spacing and weed control was affected the percentage of flowering, the number of flowers on 4 and 6 days after planting, and the dry weight of Dayak shallot. The components of plant growth of Dayak shallot (plant height, number of leaves, root length, leaf biomass, root biomass, and total flavonoid content) was not affected by the combination of treatments. The dominant weed is <em>Borreria latifolia,</em> with SDR 30.623%.
