Borneo Prima Mandarin (Citrus reticulata cv Borneo Prima) is a new local commodity that grown in lowland but has an interesting orange skin. As a new commodity, Borneo Prima Mandarin has to be developed in order to reduce citrus import. The research was conducted in lowland area (250 m above sea level) IPB research station, Sindang Barang, Bogor from February 2014 to February 2015. The aim of this research was to observe the effect of phosphorus and potassium (PK) fertilizer and pruning on the growth and performance of the plants. This research used Randomize Complete Block Design (RCBD) with two factors. The first factor was aplication of PK fertilizer (15 g P+ 10 g K, 15 g P+ 15 g K, 20 g P+10 g K, 20 g P+15 g K per plant) and the second factor was pruning form (without pruning, open center pruning and hedge pruning). The result showed that the combination of phosporus and potassium fertilizer just gave a significant effect to number of shoot. The highest number of new shoots formed by fertilizing 15 g P+10 g K per tree per application. Pruning treatments had significant effect to plant architecture (i.e reduce plant height, land occupation). Open center pruning and hedge pruning made the crown more open that can increase the light interception so that increase the rate of photosynthesis.

ABSTRACT<br />Application of organic fertilizer into the soil is designated as a source of macro, micro nutrients and organic acids; it also acts as soil ameliorant that improve physical, chemical and biological properties of soil. Application of high rates organic fertilizer has a constraint namely the availability and ease of application. Therefore, it is necessary to learn the use of organic fertilizer with low rates to improve the efficiency of chemical fertilizers. This research was aimed to study the effect of organic and inorganic fertilizers on growth and yield of paddy rice, as well as the efficiency of N, P, K inorganic fertilizer. Field experiment was conducted at Sawah Baru Research Station, University Farm IPB, Bogor, West Java from September to December 2013. The experiment used Randomized Block Design consisted of two factors: rates of organic fertilizer (0, 250, 500, 750, and 1,000 kg ha-1), and rates of inorganic fertilizer (0, 100, 200, 300, and 400 kg ha-1). The results suggested that the application of 1,000 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 did not show significant interaction. Application of organic fertilizer alone up to 1,000 kg ha-1 resulted in low growth and yield. Increasing rates of  application up to 400 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1 increased the growth and yield of paddy rice. The highest N efficiency was 89.19% at a rate of 500 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 200 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1, whereas the highest efficiency of P and K, respectively were 69.55% and 92.52% at a rate of 750 kg organic fertilizer ha-1 + 300 kg inorganic fertilizer ha-1.<br />Keywords: NPK, organic fertilizer, paddy rice

A field trial was conducted to optimize the planting date and appropriate clone for ware potato production at Horticulture Research Station, Malepatan, Pokhara from October 2015 to March 2016. The trial was laid out in two factors Factorial Randomized Complete Block Design. There were nine treatments with three replications. The treatments comprised of three dates of planting (30th October, 14th and 29th November) and three potato clones (Janakdev, Lbr 40 and PRP 266264.1). The results showed that the main effects of planting dates and potato clones significantly (P<0.05) affected most growth, yield and yield attributing parameters of the crop. Interaction effect of planting dates and potato clones also significantly influenced the number of above-ground stems per plant, ground cover percentage, number of tubers per plant, number and weight of small size tuber (<25 g), weight of medium or seed size (25-50 g) tuber and large size (>50 g) tuber, number and yield of tubers per plot, and yield t/ha. The highest yield (37.05 t/ha) was obtained from 14th November planting. The clone Lbr 40 produced a higher yield (36.05t/ha). The clone PRP 266264.1 planting on 30th October planting produced significantly a higher yield (41.34t/ha). The clone Lbr 40 produced significantly highest number and weight of large size (>50 g) tuber. Number of small size (<25 g) tuber per plot or unmarketable tuber significantly increased on delayed planting.

High quantities of mineral fertilizers (MF) are required for good coconut seedling production, whose up dated recommendation is 232 grams per seedling. The objective of this work was to assess the substitution of the MF by organic fertilizer as sugar-cane filter cake (SCFC) on coconut seedlings in polybag. The SCFC is an organic residue from sugar-cane manufacturing composed of various chemical elements, as for instance: nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium. The experiment was carried out at the Itapirema Research Station, Goiana, Pernambuco State, Brazil, in a randomized complete block design, with factorial disposition 52, replicated three times, with six tall coconut seedlings per plot. The treatments were the combinations of five doses of MF (in g seedling-1): 46.25; 92.50; 138.75; 185.00 and control, using urea, simple superphosphate and potassium chloride at the proportion of 1:2:3, respectively, and five doses of SCFC (in kg polybag-1): 0.5; 1.0; 1.5; 2.0 and control. Eight months after young coconut seedlings replacement to the polybags the following parameters were measured: collar girth (CG), leaf area (LA), number of live leaves (NL) and plant height (PH). For leaf nutritional diagnosis and growing media chemical and physical analyses, samples were collected. There was significance for the two factors, individually, to all parameters. The trend analysis revealed linear, quadratic and cubic responses, according to the studied character. The mixture of 0.5 kg of SCFC polybag-1 plus 46.25 g of the MF was sufficient for obtaining seedlings of excellent quality and promoting a fertilizers economy around 80%. According to other results from this research, the number of seedlings per plot and the critical level of nutrients in the leaf of coconut seedlings should be reviewed.

<p>This research aims to determine the arrowroot responses on piling and potassium fertilizer application on its growth and yield. This research was conducted in Experiment Field of Agriculture Faculty SebelasMaret University at Sukosari, Jumantono, Karanganyar using Randomized Completed Block Design (RCBD) factorial with two factors of piling and potassium fertilization.There are 2 levels of piling, consists of without piling treatment (P0) and with in piling (P1).There are 3 levels of potassium fertilization consist of  250 kg ha-1 KCl, 300 kg ha-1 KCl, and 350 kg ha-1 KCl. Observation variable consist of plant height, leaf number, tiller number, biomass fresh weight per plant, biomass dry weight per plant, tuber numbers per plant, tuber weights per plant, tuber weights per plot, tuber diameter, and tuber length. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and if there is significant difference, continue with DMRT (Duncan’s Multiple Range Test) of 5% level. The result showed that treatment with in piling (P1) can tends to increase yield of arrowroot plant on tuber numbers per plant, tuber weights per plant, and tuber weights per plot. Potassium fertilizer treatment with  350 kg ha-1 dose KCl tends to increase at growth and yield in all variables except the tiller numbers.</p>

This study was conducted at the Research Station of the college of Agriculture \ University of Diyala for the period from 29/10/2017 to 1/6/2018 to study the effect of cooling periods and some spraying treatments on the qualities of strawberry fruit. The experiment included two factors first included planets cooling at 4±1 and three periods (without cooling, cooling for one week, and cooling for two weeks), The second factor was using chelated iron spray with a concentration at 75mg.L-¹ and nano-Iron spray with a concentration at 75mg.L-¹ and calcium chloride spraying at a concentration at 0.5g. L-¹carbonate nanoparticles at a concentration at 2g. L-¹ control treatment was sprayed with distilled water. The experiment conducted using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four replications. The results were analyzed using the SAS statistical program (2003). The differences between treatment were compared by using the Duncan multiple Range test at 0.05 level.  The level of cooling for two weeks was significant superior in number of fruits, the average weight of the fruit, the highest hardness of fruits, the percentage of TSS. The results showed significant superiority of nano-Iron spraying on most of the studied traits, which significantly increased the number of flowers, number of fruit and gave highest TSS. The results showed the superiority of the spraying of calcium carbonate nanoparticles on the average of weight of fruit, the highest hardness of fruits. The interaction treatment between cooling for two weeks and spraying of calcium carbonate nanoparticles gave significantly increased the average number of fruits, the average fruit weight and the highest hardness of fruits.

A field experiment was conducted at Unifert Research Station Yousfiah Center of Iraq during spring of 2015 by grafting five cucumber hybrids named Mayadine, Ghazeer, Najim, Emparator and Beit Alpha on the rootstock ES101 (Cucurbita maxima x Cucurbita moschata) used the hole Insertion technique. The experiment content 10 treatments which were the grafted and ungrafted hybrids using randomized complete block design with three replications. The results showed that grafted Emparator (C4G) gave asignificans increase in the number of leaves (124.20 leaf.plant-1), leaf area (1.85 m2), chlorophyll leaf content (603.0 mg.100 g-1), plant dry weight (191.7 g.plant-1) and the amount of absorbed (nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium) by square area which were (17.77, 1.11 and 14.82 g.m-2, respectively). However, grafted Nagim (C3G) showed an increase in fruit count (14.03 fruit.plant-1), plant yield (1.53 kg.plant-1, early yield (10.60 ton.ha-1) and total yield (28.77 ton.ha-1).

In order to reach an optimum and sustainable production, growers must know the fertilizing nutrient sources and their application rates. The present study aimed to determine the effect of different organic and inorganic source of fertilizers on growth and performance of rice. A field experiment was conducted at Regional Agriculture Research Station, Parwanipur, Bara, Nepal during summer season of 2013. Rice variety ‘Hardinath 1’ was used in these experiments. Treatments included a combination of organic and inorganic nutrients at eight rates (control, recommended dose of NPK, ½ NPK+FYM 10 t ha-1, ½ NPK+20 cm crop residue, ½ NPK+Chicken manure 10 t ha-1, ½ NPK+Vermicompost 10 t ha-1, FYM 10 t ha-1 and FYM 20 t ha-1).The experiments were laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design with four replications. Treatments produced significant results for plant height, number of tillers per square meter, panicle length and grain yield but thousands grains weight was insignificant. Result showed that application of half of recommended N: P2O5: K2O from the inorganic fertilizer sources along with soil incorporation of 20 cm crop residue produced significantly higher value for plant height, number of tillers per square meter, panicle length and Grain yield. Treatments did not produce significant effect on after harvest soil properties: pH, organic matter, nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content.

Low soil phosphorus levels in savanna soils of Ghana limit cowpea response to inoculation. A two-year experiment was carried out on 2 soil types of the Guinea and Sudan savanna zones of Ghana based on the hypothesis that Bradyrhizobia inoculant (BR3267) in combination with phosphorus and potassium fertilizer will significantly increase cowpea root nodulation, growth and yield. The study aimed to determine the effect of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer on cowpea response to Bradyrhizobia inoculant. The treatments were laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design, replicated four times. The plot size was 8 × 3 m, with the sowing distance of 60 × 20 cm. The treatment comprises of commercial Bradyrhizobia inoculant, phosphorus (0, 30, 40 kg P2O5 ha−1) and potassium (0, 10, 20, 30 K2O ha−1). Application of Bradyrhizobia inoculant with 30 kg P2O5 ha−1 and 20 kg K2O ha−1 gave the highest grain yield (1.68 and 1.86 tons ha−1) at both soils which did not differ from the yield obtained from BR-40-30 kg ha−1 P2O5 and K2O ha−1 on the Ferric Lixisol and BR-40-20 kg ha−1 P2O5 and K2O on the Ferric Luvisol. The same treatment also gave the highest nodule number and nodule dry weight. The results of this study have shown that the application of Bradyrhizobia inoculant followed by P and K fertilizer was effective for cowpea growth in field conditions.

In the last few years, soil deterioration due to excessive application of synthetic agrochemical has become growing concern. Use of organic fertilizer is believed to be able to enhance soil quality. The objective of this experiment was to determine nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium uptakes by sweet corn as affected by local based liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) under closed agriculture system. The experiment was conducted in Closed Agriculture Production System (CAPS) Research Station in Air Duku Village, Bengkulu, Indonesia from March to June 2015, employing Randomized Completely Block Design with 2 factors. The first factor was 3 sweet corn genotypes, i.e. Talenta, Jambore, and Asian Honey and the second factor was 5 rates of LOF, i.e. 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100 mg l-1, respectively. Each treatment combination was replicated 3 times. Foliar application of LOF was carried out every week at 2-8 weeks after planting (WAP) with total volume of 600 ml per plant. Sweet corn leaves were sampled at the beginning of tassel emergence. The experiment revealed that sweet corn genotype significantly influenced the uptake of nitrogen, but not phosphorus and potassium. It was observed that Asian Honey genotype absorbed highest nitrogen as compared to other genotypes. In addition, increase in rates of LOF significantly raised nitrogen uptake by sweet corn, but not phosphorus and potassium.

ABSTRACT Most studies that found soybean high phenotypic plasticity under different seeding rates adopted the same fertilization levels used for the recommended seeding rates. Therefore, the interaction between these factors is little known. This study aims to assess the interaction between seeding rate and levels of phosphorus and potassium fertilization on soybean growth, grain yield and contents of protein and oil in the grains. The experiment was carried out under a randomized complete block design, in a split-plot scheme, with six replicates. Four seeding rates (150, 300, 440 and 560 thousand viable seeds ha-1) were used in the plots, and two levels of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer were applied in the subplots to meet the export of 3 and 6 t ha-1 of grains (level 1 = 30 kg ha-1 of P2O5 + 60 kg ha-1 of K2O; and level 2 = 60 kg ha-1 of P2O5 + 120 kg ha-1 of K2O). There was no interaction between the experimental factors. Increase in fertilizer doses did not alter the evaluated characteristics, regardless of the seeding rate. Seeding rate did not change grain yield or protein and oil contents, but at low densities there was an increase in the number of pods per plant, apparent harvest index and SPAD index.
