This study aims to analyze the identity of high school students based on four levels of status (identity diffusion, identity foreclosure, identity moratorium, and identity achievement). Self-identity is very important because the task of development at that time is to adapt to changes that exist in oneself. Teens who experience an identity crisis show that they are trying to find their identity. Therefore, adolescents need help to improve their identity. This study aims to describe the identity of students. The sample in this study consisted of 240 high school students who were selected by proportional random sampling. The instrument used was a self-identity scale. The instrument used has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis in this study used a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The results showed that identity diffusion was in the high category 33.85 (81 students), identity foreclosure was in the high category 10.8% (26 students), identity moratorium was in the high category 46.2% (111 students), and identity achievement was at high category 9.3% (22 students). The implication of this research is the counselor's basis for improving the self-identity of students in schools

The development and use of diagnostic tests in the form of multiple choice four levels in biology learning are still lacking. This study aims to develop a valid and reliable four-tier multiple-choice test instrument to identify the conception profile of high school students on the concept of transport across membranes. The research method is in the form of development research by adapting the Kilic and Saglam models which consist of three stages, namely defining content, obtaining information on student misunderstandings, and developing tests. The research instruments used were validation sheets, test instruments, and interview sheets. Descriptive statistical analysis techniques were used to analyze the data in this study. The results showed that 15 items developed were declared valid and the reliability coefficient of the test was 0.82, including the very reliable category. Thus, it can be concluded that the four-tier multiple-choice test instrument developed has met the validity and reliability requirements to identify the conception profile of high school students about the concept of transport across membranes. The four-tier multiple-choice test developed can be used by high school teachers as an accurate test to identify the conception profile of their students because it can distinguish between students who understand the concept, do not understand the concept, or who experience misconceptions about the concept of transport across membranes.

It was aimed in this study to reveal and compare strategies of students of three types of high schools to cope with stress through leisure time. The research population consisted of high school students in Konya province, Turkey. The sample consisted of 280 male and 224 female vocational high school, Anatolian  high school and sports high school students. In the study, the Demographic Personal Information Form was used to collect personal information. The “Strategies to Cope with Stress through Leisure Time Scale” (SCSLTS) was used to identify the leisure time strategies. This scale was developed by Iwasaki and Mannell (2000). It was translated into Turkish, and its validity and reliability studies were conducted by Çevik, Özcan and Munusturlar (2018). No difference was found in the strategies of the students to cope with stress through leisure time according to the grade level, income, and maternal and paternal educational level factors. Statistical variations were observed based on the gender and sporting factors (p<.05). There was no statistically significant difference in the mood enhancement dimension depending on the school type factor. However, it was found that the mean scores of the vocational high school students in terms of the dimensions of leisure time friendship and temporary coping ability were higher than those of the students of the other schools, and these differences were also statistically significant (p<.05). The vocational high school students had higher mean scores in the leisure time strategies sub-dimension than the students of other schools. Accordingly, it can be said that the leisure time strategy scores may differ according to the school type and that the students receiving vocational education were more optimistic in determining leisure time strategies than the students of Anatolian high school and sports high school.

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to measure the motivation of high school students to participate in physical activity. In the study, the relevant literature was searched and focus group interview was made with three different groups composed of 8 high school students, and an item pool with 55-item was created considering the opinions of experts. After the expert opinions were received, necessary corrections were made on the test form and applied to 308 high school students attending Ödemiş Anatolian High School and Ödemiş Ticaret Odası Anatolian High School in Ödemiş, İzmir in 2016-2017 academic year. As a result of the exploratory factor analysis, the form, which is formed by 16 items and 3 sub-dimensions, accounts for 54.69% of the total variance. In the result of the CFA, the values of fit indices were examined and it was seen that the 3 factorial structure of the scale consisting of 16 items was confirmed as a model. The scale was found to be reliable according to Cronbach's Alfa internal consistency tested to determine the reliability of the scale and the Spearman Brown two-tailed reliability coefficient values. As a result, it was concluded that the "Motivation Scale For Participation In Physical Activity (MSPPA)" is valid and reliable.Extended English summary is in the end of Full Text PDF (TURKISH) file. ÖzetBu çalışmanın amacı, lise öğrencilerinin fiziksel aktiviteye katılım motivasyonlarını ölçebilmek için geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçme aracı geliştirmektir. This study is an adaptation of Science Motivation Scale, developed by Glynn and Koballa, into Turkish and reports validity and reliability of the adapted scale. The sample consisted of 1354 high school students from Ankara and Edirne. The data collected from different types of high schools was analyzed and moderately similar factor structures were found as in the original scale. Based on the principal component analysis, four dimensions which were self-efficacy in learning science, anxiety about science assessment, extrinsically motivated science learning, and intrinsically motivated science learning were determined. These four dimensioned model was analyzed via confirmatory factor analysis and moderate fit was determined. In addition, validity analysis supports the validity of scores on the four-factor model. The Cronbach alpha reliability was found to be 0.913. This scale aims to determine high school students' motivation to learn chemistry. The distinction of this scale is that determining student motivation on learning chemistry rather than asking for general questions in science. The findings of the study are meant to contribute to the chemistry education field by providing an adapted scale.

This paper discusses issues of identity associated with Palestinian students’ integration in an Israeli-Arab high school. These students were born to Palestinian families that are considered as ‘traitors’ by Arabs living in the Palestinian Authority and in the State of Israel. Their parents have working relations with the State of Israel and are therefore living in a large city at the north of the country. The students experience some kind of identity conflict between them and the Israeli-Arab students learning in the same school. The students who came with their parents from the Palestinian Authority, have difficulties to define themselves and they constantly try avoiding the question: Where are you from? They usually say they are from Jerusalem and they hold a blue identity card. Moreover, these students deal with language difficulties. School today constitutes an educational framework for a variety of students, characterized by different abilities and needs. This sets a rather complicated challenge to the school management and staff that have to open the school doors and provide a response to the students. This paper is grounded in theories of high school education, self-identity, conflict between identities of minorities and adolescence. It reviews the identity issues associated with the Palestinian children’s national and self-identity, as well as the steps that school and the education system can take in order to promote their integration.
