This research was aimed at knowing the forms of code switching and code mixing found in conversations among IAIN Purwokerto lecturers and explaining the factors influencing them. This is a qualitative research in which the data to find the forms of code switching and code mixing were collected through listening to, involving in, and recording their conversation, while the to explain the factors influencing them were collected through inerviews. This research found that the forms of code mixing are word, phrase, sentence insertion; the forms of code switching are switching from local languages, Indonesian, and foreign languages. Meanwhile factors influencing code switching and code mixing are: academic mission, language improvement, meaning expression choice, solidarity, and prestige.

The study was conducted in order to describe the forms and the functions of code-switching and code-mixing in drama performance of ALE of the students of ICP batch 2017. The study was descriptive qualitative research. The data are collected by observation and documentation in the drama performance in Art and Language Exhibition ‘Prahara Ing Argabelah’. The finding shows that 24 unit analysis of code-switching found 6 used tag-switching, 15 used inter-sentential switching, and 3 used intra-sentential switching. Furthermore, 27 unit analysis of code-mixing performed 21 intra-sentential code mixing, 5 intra-lexical code mixing, and 1 involving a change of pronunciation. Then, from 24 unit analysis of code-switching, the researcher found six functions in the drama conversation. There are 6 addressee specifications, 2 repetitions, 7 interjections, 1 message qualification, 2 personalization and objectivizations, and 6 facilities of expression. Moreover, the researcher just found 3 functions from 27 unit analysis of code-mixing. There are 1 repetition, 2 message qualifications, and 24 facilities of expression.

The objective of this research was to focus on the use of the English Code Mixing in an Indoensian Novel Entitled Teman Tapi Menikah. The writer used qualitative research for conducting the research. The writer determined the reasons and impact of codemixing in after data has been collected. The aim of study is to investigate the used of English code mixing in Novel Teman Tapi Menikah writers by Ayudia and Dito. This Novel consist of 206 pages, the writer will collect data by reading the Novel and underline the English Code mixing happen in the Novel. It can be concluded that the data of language variation has been elaborated. the writer found the reason for code switching and code mixing in Pojok Kampong news. They are: Easier to Understand, Maintaining Certain Neutrality when both Codes are used, Asserting Power, Pride, and Status, Eliminating ambiguity, Adopts from other language in Javanese, Declaring Solidarity, Expressing Identity, Express Self Emotion, Conveying the Speaker’s Attitude to the Listener, Being more Informative, Being Incompetent in Finding the Appropriate Word.

The aims of this study are to describe and explain the form of code switching and code mixing, to identify the factors of code switching and code mix and to identify the purpose and function of code switching and code mixing in the Acehnese students in Yogyakarta. This is descriptive qualitative research by sociolinguistic approach. The method used in this research is observation method and record technique. The data of this research are the speechs of Acehnese students who are studying in Yogyakarta which contains of code switching and code mixing. Data were identified and classified and then analyzed by existing sociolinguistic theory.The results show that: first, the form of code transfer in Acehnese student communication in Yogyakarta includes the switch of code from Acehnese Language to Indonesian and the switch of code from Indonesian to Aceh; second, the form of mixed code in the form of insertion of words, phrases, and clauses; third, the factors of code switching and code mixing are speakers, participants, third speakers, speech mode and discussion topics; fourth, the purpose and function of code switching and code mixing in the Acehnese students are to familiarize the situation, to make a sense of humor, to look prestigious, to respect the other person and to tell the secret.Key words        : Code Switching, Code Mixing, Sociolinguistic

This study focuses on the form and function of code-switching and code-mixing used in the Fashion  Program "I LOOK " on NET TV. This study is aimed to answer the following problem: 1.What is the forms of code-switching and code-mixing used in the Fashion  Program "I LOOK" on NET TV, and What are the functions of code-switching and code-mixing in Fashion Program "I LOOK" on NET TV. To answer the problem, the writer used descriptive qualitative research through theoretical triangulation the total data 72 unit of analysis of code-switching found that  22 data used tag switching, 18 data used inter-sentential switching, and  32 used intra-sentential switching. It showed that intra-sentential switching is commonly used by  Kimmy  Jayanti in the fashion program "I LOOK" on NET TV. Furthermore, 127 unit data analysis of code-mixing performed 74 insertions of words, 48 insertions of phrases, 2 insertions of hybrids, and 3 insertions of reduplications. Meanwhile, there is 250 function of code-switching and code-mixing used by Kimmy  Jayanti in the fashin program "I LOOK" in  NET TV. They are quotation  1, addressee specification  24, repetition  1, interjection 31, message qualification 12, personalization and objectivization  15, and facility of expression  121.

Abstract—This study examines code-switching and code mixing realized in the interactional activities undertaken by govermental leaders in the Denpasar City of Bali Province, Indonesia. Typically I reveal the language types used by bilingual and multingual governments during code swithing and code mixing events as well as investigating their leading factors. The study was designed using qualitative research method. The results of this study indicate that code mixing dan code-switching undertaken by the leaders in the governmental area of Denpasar city involves 3 types of language, namely Balinese, Indonesian, and English. An element of code mixing filler occurring during interactional process of the leaders is tangible words and phrases. Leading factors to such phenomena of code mixing and code-switching are: language ability, speech topics, speech participants, speech situations, prestige; and creating regional or religious nuances. The sociolinguistic study is one of the interdisciplinary branches of sociology and linguistics with the object of language study as a means to communicate in the community. One of which is language selection. This study discusses the choice of language used by sellers and buyers and the factors behind the choice of language used by sellers and buyers in Randuagung District Market, Lumajang Regency. In general, this research is descriptive qualitative research. The data collection stage in this study used the listening method and proficient method. The data analysis stage used intralingual and extra lingual equivalents, presenting the results of data analysis using informal methods. The results showed that the interaction between the seller and the buyer was very communicative. The language selection in Randuagung District's market, Lumajang Regency occurred in three forms: code-switching, code-mixing, and a single language. The factors behind the choice of language are 1) participant, 2) conversation topic, and 3) function (purpose and objective) of speech. There are four types of the participant a) familiarity, b) age differences, c) ethnic background and language of speakers, and d) the presence of third parties.

This research concerned with the types of code switching and code mixing used by the teachers, teachers’ reasons in using code switching and code mixing, and students’ perception of code switching and code mixing used by the teacher in the class. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The researcher used observation checklist, video recording, interview, and questionnaire as the instruments of this research. The data of this research was analyzed by classifying the types of code switching used theory of Poplack and the types code mixing used theory of Hoffman. The result of this research shows that the English teachers did all the types of code switching in English class. Namely; tag code switching, inter-sentential code switching, and intra-sentential code switching. Meanwhile, the researcher found that the teachers only used two from the three types of code mixing. Namely; intra-sentential code mixing and intra-lexical code mixing. The type that did not appear was involvement in a change of pronunciation. This study revealed that the teachers’ reason in using code switching and code mixing are; to help the students in learning English and to make the students more focus in learning process. For the students’ perception, most of the students agreed that the use of code switching and code mixing helps them understand the materials in English language learning class.

This qualitative study will investigate English Education students’ opinion towards code-switching and code-mixing; both in everyday and classroom use. In this study, it will employ an open-ended (short-answered questionnaire) with 13 questions that mainly focus students of English Education class of 2016-2018. The populations were chosen because the students of 2016-2018 have attended Sociolinguistic Course during semester 3. Moreover, to gather the population, the researcher spread the link of questionnaire written in Google Form by personally contacting several people via Whats App.  Based on the findings obtained from the questionnaire, it can be inferred that the 20 respondents mainly spoke 3 languages (national: Indonesian, local: Javanese, foreign: English). Furthermore, it can be concluded that 11 respondents find code-switching and code-mixing of national, local and foreign languages acceptable to be used in everyday life and classroom situation. On the contrary, 3 respondents also see code-switching and code-mixing of national, local and foreign languages annoying and disturbing to be implemented in daily communication. Meanwhile, 6 respondents perceive code-switching and code-mixing of national, local and foreign languages as neutral to be executed in everyday and classroom situation.    Keywords: Sociolinguistic; Code-Switching; Code-Mixing; English Education Students

This study is entitled "Mixing Indonesian Language Codes in Advertising Discourse". The use of Indonesian in discourse advertisements has taken place in another language, namely local languages and foreign languages. This study examines the factors that cause code mixing, the types and forms / forms of code mixing, and the social meaning that is caused by the code mixing. The study uses the method of observation (observation) and data collection techniques, descriptive qualitative methods used in analyzing data, and informal methods used to collect the results of the analysis. In this study found two kinds of mixed codes, namely mixed codes into local languages (Balinese and Javanese) and mixed codes out of English. The shape and form of the code that is found is a mixture of code in the form of words, namely nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. In addition to the form of words also found a mixture of code in the form of phrases, namely nominal phrases, verbal phrases, and prepositional phrases. There are two causes of code mixing in discourse, namely intralinguistic factors and extralinguistic factors. The code mixing events in the discourse are related to the language and social background, so that social meaning arises due to the code mixing behavior. Social meaning that emerges, shows more educated, shows social class, shows creativity, and shows the practical and regionalism.

Language and social are two inseparable aspects in social life. Therefore, it is not uncommon that the phenomenon of language is mainly over code and code mixing. Code switching and code mixing can occur on many sides of a language, including written languages, types of literary works. But unfortunately there is still little that makes literary works as objects of study. Therefore, researchers examine literary works using descriptive qualitative research types. Suber research data is a 3-color realm novel by A. Fuadi. This research data is in the form of dialogue / speech of characters in the novel that contain code switching and code mixing. The analysis technique used is reading, identification, and note taking techniques.
