A new and extremely effective teaching-learning-assessment methodology is introduced for continuous active learning in outcome based education (Teaching, Learning and Evaluation-OBTLE). This method addresses the modern methods of education like personalized learning, participatory learning, peer evaluation, revised Bloom's Taxonomy, and all graduate Attributes including the corresponding competencies and performance indicators. Most importantly this method encourages socratic questioning which facilitates inquiry based learning, which is being projected as the future of learning in any context. The method may be extremely useful to identify and take remedial measures for students who may need additional attention from teachers.

Abstract Funding bodies in the USA and abroad are increasingly investing in transdisciplinary research, i.e. research conducted by investigators from different disciplines who work to create novel theoretical, methodological, and translational innovations to address a common problem. Transdisciplinary research presents additional logistical and administrative burdens, yet few models of successful coordination have been proposed or substantiated, nor have performance outcomes or indicators been established for transdisciplinary coordination. This work uses the NIH-funded Transdisciplinary Research on Energetics and Cancer (TREC) Centers Initiative as a case study to put forward a working framework of transdisciplinary research coordination center (CC) responsibilities and performance indicators. We developed the framework using a sequential mixed methods study design. TREC CC functions and performance indicators were identified through key-informant interviews with CC personnel and then refined through a survey of TREC research center and funding agency investigators and staff. The framework included 23 TREC CC responsibilities that comprised five functional areas: leadership and administration, data and bioinformatics, developmental projects, education and training, and integration and self-evaluation, 10 performance outcomes and 26 corresponding performance indicators for transdisciplinary CCs. Findings revealed high levels of agreement about CC responsibilities and performance metrics across CC members and constituents. The success of multi-site, transdisciplinary research depends on effective research coordination. The functions identified in this study help clarify essential responsibilities of transdisciplinary research CCs and indicators of success of those transdisciplinary CCs. Our framework adds new dimensions to the notion of identifying and assessing CC activities that may foster transdisciplinarity.

Good governance structures have become an issue of public interest, including public pension systems. This study assesses the pension funds governance in Tanzania, with a special focus on board of trustees’ issues. The growing interest referred to, is partly because the quality and performance of the funds trustees determines the income flows to which members are entitled and promised, as well as any shortfalls thereof, that may require interventions. Our findings suggest that board of trustees play an important role for funds governance and hence performance. The pension fund structure and mechanisms in Tanzania uphold high standards. Yet, a major issue is that the board selection seems to be politically motivated and that the government claims most board seats, making conflicts of interest likely to occur repeatedly.

Didactic possibilities in physical education classes: the topic of “physical exercise and health” in high school. The study results from an experience on thematizing the topic “physical exercise and health”, as developed by members of the PIBID in a school which offers professional education in high school in the city of Crato, in Ceará, Brazil. The purpose of the study was to describe and analyze a Didactic Unit used for teaching as well as the teaching-learning relationship which was taken to class under the topic of “Physical Exercise and Health”. This is a report from a qualitative, exploratory in nature, experience grounded on a collaborative-like action involving the physical education teacher and the trainees participating in the PIBID project. There are possibilities in combining theory and practice and involving the high school students in an active way in the teaching-learning process. The demonstration of the students’ difficulties revealed the necessity of making adaptations regarding the motor demands requested from them, which makes it necessary to read the reality and the pedagogical intervention as complementary. It was identified that it is possible to conduct a pedagogical intervention process in physical education which is grounded on collaborating, on sharing experiences, on being critical, and on associating theory and practice and the notion of human movement going further than the bio mechanical aspects.

The quality of budgeting is an instrument to assess the performance of the entity. Analysis of budget execution can be engaged by comparing budget realization in LRA and budget in DIPA. The budgetary variances arise due to differences, but unfortunately the government has not been intensively using variance analysis as an evaluation of budgeting. The qualitative research with this case study approach aimed to analyze the variance of the budget and relate it to the performance assessment of Foreign Corporate and Individual Tax Service Office. The results showed the absorption rate of 94,42% with variance (difference) of IDR974.697.831 or equivalent to 5,58% for expenditure activities. The absorption of the budget encourages the achievement of output targets and Key Performance Indicators (IKU) that impact on the Performance Value Organization (NKO) at a good level of 93,57%. The study recommends the importance of reviewing the accuracy of the expenditure allocation and budgeting must also meet the criteria of Architecture and Performance Information (ADIK).

Abstract. The aim of this research is to describe the discourse and the classroom teaching approach of Physical Education teachers in relation to the Didactic Content Knowledge (CDC). The construction of didactic and consequently pedagogical knowledge is generated from school practices, producing an articulated learning knowledge and located in the relationship between theory and practice, which includes didactic, pedagogical, disciplinary, professional, and practical aspects of the teaching profession. In this sense, the objective of this research was to understand the construction process and the sources of CDC in Physical Education teachers from the Maule region in Chile. The methodology used is qualitative, since it is based on the interpretive-comprehensive paradigm that seeks to understand complex phenomena. In terms of design, six semi-structured interviews were conducted with Physical Education teachers working in the Maule Region, Chile. The process of coding, categorization, and interpretation allowed us to conclude that even if teachers have disciplinary knowledge that does not guarantee quality learning for students who participate in the Physical Education classroom, since a general pedagogical knowledge is required, which allows teachers to plan, organize, and execute quality teaching-learning situations.

Purpose The French academic libraries directors association (ADBU) launched and updated a European comparative study on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in Academic Libraries over the 2013–2017 period. The purpose of this paper is to briefly present the ADBU initiative; its main focus is how to use these figures to ground decision making process, notably so as to better assess the contribution of libraries in student success or research performance. Design/methodology/approach As universities and academic libraries are facing research evolutions and teaching/learning new models, a strong increase in students’ number is observed everywhere in Europe. This trend will most probably continue in the coming years and the pressure on academic libraries will grow. That is why the French ADBU took the initiative to launch a European comparative study on key and performance indicators in Academic Libraries over the 2013–2016 period. Data were updated in 2019, covering 2017 figures and including additional countries. Findings Thanks to the European partners and the help of a consultant firm, the first observations were updated with the 2017 figures and the country scope grew broader. Libraries buildings and equipment, space and seats per student, opening days and hours, frequentation rate, library services, users training, staff per student/documentary budgets/total expenditure, staff training, documentation loans/consultation/downloads: these KPI are gathered and can be compared in both relative and absolute value. Originality/value The ADBU initiative is unique, results are widely shared.

The Government of Indonesia, through the Ministry of Education and Culture, mandates each university to organize quality education. To produce graduates who meet national standards of higher education (SN-Dikti). Hence, each university must evaluate its performance to know its current condition. Unfortunately, most universities in Indonesia have difficulty in measuring their performance. Therefore, the university becomes difficult to establish a strategic plan forward. This study aims to produce a performance dashboard that can help university leaders evaluate their performance. This Performance Dashboard visualizes Key Performance Indicator (KPI) information from a strategic plan in one screen. This research uses a user-centric approach with four main stages, namely, identification of needs, planning, prototype design, and prototype review to produce the performance dashboard. The Performance Dashboard produces interactive gauge charts (baseline, targets, and performance achievements) so that it can visualize university KPI information. The results of user reviews showed that the KPI visualization by the performance dashboard was declared correct and could be useful as a guide in preparing a self-evaluation.
