The praxeological approach serves to discover the dialectical relationships between the objective structures that condition human action (praxis) of, in this case, the scientific research processes, and the structured dispositions that are updated in academic debates. The MapCom Project drew up a cartographic repository of consolidated research groups in Spanish universities with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Communication, as well as a census of researchers active in the Spanish university with degrees in Communication, surveyed them, and organized debate sessions in Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga in 2016 on communication research, which were the first university meetings held in this regard in Spain, applying the Phillips 66 technique. The main results detect the limitations faced by the praxeology of research in communication because there is a reciprocal exclusion between "Fostering the strength of research groups" and the "ANECA effect", said exclusion comes from confronting the policy of cooperation between groups with the policy of individualistic competitiveness and choosing between collective convergence in the production of knowledge or the individual fight for getting re-knowledge.

Research groups are professional structures that cooperate to produce knowledge and that must communicate their findings to make disciplines progress. This research analyzes how Spanish Communication research groups take advantage of the functionalities of the web 2.0 to transfer knowledge and promote closer collaboration with other academic entities. The starting point is an exhaustive census of research groups, prepared within the research project MapCom 2 and including groups belonging to communication faculties of public and private universities in Spain. Content analysis is then applied to examine how these groups use their respective websites, exploring six variables: navigability, dissemination of information and services, updating, international projection, SEO positioning, and possibilities of interaction with the audience. The analysis of the sites reveals disparate results in terms of the type of update, content, functionalities, and uses. Most of the groups listed have websites to present their lines of research and objectives. However, these spaces vary from one group to another (even within the same university), and many asymmetries can be detected in the information presented and in the fact that certain statements are not always accessible. The study of these variables –composed and designed for the present research– also allows us to analyze the knowledge transfer that the groups carry out, their possible level of interaction with citizens, or to determine whether they are more or less endogamic or have an external projection when promoting links with other members or groups at a local, state, or international level. The results show that Spanish groups have not yet managed to exploit the opportunities of the web 2.0 sufficiently to transfer knowledge as well as export and increase the visibility of their scientific production. Resumen Los grupos de investigación son estructuras académicas que cooperan para producir conocimiento y que necesitan comunicar sus hallazgos para fortalecer los campos y disciplinas científicas. La presente investigación analiza cómo los grupos españoles del campo de la Comunicación aprovechan las funciones de la web 2.0 para transferir el conocimiento y fomentar mecanismos de colaboración con otras entidades científicas. Se parte de la elaboración de un censo exhaustivo de grupos de investigación, elaborado en el marco del proyecto I+D MapCom 2, y que incluye grupos adscritos a las facultades de comunicación de universidades públicas y privadas en España. Se aplica un protocolo de análisis de contenido para estudiar cómo dichos grupos emplean sus webs en relación con seis variables: navegabilidad, exposición de informaciones y servicios, actualización, proyección internacional, trabajo de posicionamiento SEO, y posibilidades de interacción con el público. El análisis de las webs demuestra resultados dispares en cuanto a tipo de actualización, contenidos, funciones y usos. La mayoría de los grupos analizados cuenta con espacios online para exponer sus líneas de investigación y objetivos. Sin embargo, dichos espacios varían de un grupo a otro (e incluso dentro de la misma universidad), y se detectan abundantes asimetrías en la información expuesta y en el propio hecho de que ciertas declaraciones no son siempre accesibles. El estudio de estas variables –compuestas y diseñadas para la presente investigación– también nos permite analizar la transferencia de conocimiento que realizan los grupos, su nivel de interacción con la ciudadanía, y si estos son más o menos endogámicos o tienen una proyección externa al favorecer vínculos con otros miembros o grupos en escalas locales, estatales o internacionales. Los resultados demuestran que los grupos españoles aún no han conseguido explotar suficientemente la web 2.0 de cara a transferir conocimiento y visibilizar e internacionalizar su producción científica.

  El lenguaje según Noam Chomsky, es una capacidad innata que puede emplearse para comunicar la ciencia. Analizar el término obesidad como concepto científico, permitirá su correcto abordaje epistemológico para contribuir con la investigación científica multidisciplinaria que busca reducir esta pandemia. La obesidad es una acumulación excesiva de grasa corporal, por encima de las necesidades fisiológicas y capacidad de adaptación, que puede conducir a efectos adversos para la salud, como una discapacidad. Se considera un estado en el que el tejido adiposo representa más del 20% del peso corporal total en hombres y el 25% en mujeres. Un IMC de 30 kg/m2 o más se cataloga como obesidad. Desde una perspectiva genética, la obesidad es clasificada en tres subdivisiones de acuerdo con el trastorno y número de genes involucrados: monogénica, sindrómica y poligénica. Para las ciencias sociales, involucra un problema sociocultural injertado en una predisposición a nivel individual. Desde la perspectiva evolutiva, el cuerpo humano no está desarrollado para la exposición constante a un ambiente rico en calorías y sedentario. Comprender las perspectivas teóricas actuales que conceptualizan a la obesidad, estipulada como patología en sí misma, como factor de riesgo para las demás enfermedades no transmisibles y como etiología indirecta de discapacidad, permitirá que la investigación científica pueda desarrollarse con panoramas más amplios, a través de su diseño con variables, categorías y teorías mixtas, que permitan formular hipótesis y explicaciones con un enfoque multidisciplinario, en concordancia con la etiología multifactorial de la obesidad.  Abstract. Language according to Noam Chomsky, is an innate ability that can be used to communicate science. Analyzing the term obesity as a scientific concept will allow its correct epistemological approach to contribute to multidisciplinary scientific research that seeks to reduce this pandemic. Obesity is an excessive accumulation of body fat, in excess of physiological needs and adaptability, which can lead to adverse health effects, such as disability. It is considered a state in which adipose tissue represents more than 20% of total body weight in men and 25% in women. A BMI of 30 kg / m2 or more is classified as obesity. From a genetic perspective, obesity is classified into three subdivisions according to the disorder and number of genes involved: monogenic, syndromic and polygenic. For the social sciences, it involves a sociocultural problem grafted onto a predisposition at the individual level. From an evolutionary perspective, the human body is not developed for constant exposure to a calorie-rich and sedentary environment. Understanding the current theoretical perspectives that conceptualize obesity, stipulated as a pathology in itself, as a risk factor for other non-communicable diseases and as an indirect etiology of disability, will allow scientific research to be developed with broader perspectives, through its design with mixed variables, categories and theories, which allow the formulation of hypotheses and explanations with a multidisciplinary approach, in accordance with the multifactorial etiology of obesity.

El concepto marxista de fetichismo nos ayuda a entender como los regímenes liberales, tanto de carácter productivo como de naturaleza consumptiva, construyen un mundo de objetos circulantes que aparecen divorciados de los contextos en los que se produjeron. Lo mismo se puede decir de la transcripción cuando esta se externalizada y es consumida —cual que dato primario— por los grupos de investigación. En el artículo se discute la importancia de la transcripción en el proceso de investigación. En primer lugar, se atiende su relevancia en la dimensión analítica y como parte de las preocupaciones metodológicas para evitar la pérdida de continuidad en la transformación de la oralidad en documento primario. Se analizan los problemas derivados de mercantilizar la transcripción en los contextos de externalización del trabajo de campo. En segundo lugar, se contextualiza el trabajo de transcripción en el proceso artesanal de la investigación cualitativa y se incide en las posibilidades que brinda para realizar un análisis continuo del proceso de investigación. En último lugar, el artículo discute la dimensión ética que contiene la transcripción literal como proceso a través del que se devuelve, en forma de escucha, el tiempo a las personas que ofrecieron su palabra a la investigación.The Marxist concept of fetishism helps us to understand how liberal regimes, both productive and consumptive, construct a world of circulating objects that appear divorced from the contexts in which they are produced. The same can be said of transcription when it is outsourced and consumed as a primary data by research groups. The importance of transcription in the research process is discussed in the article. First, we take into account its relevance in the analytical process and as part of the methodological concerns to avoid the loss of continuity in the transformation of orality into a primary document. We analyze the problems derived from commercialization of the transcription in the contexts of outsourcing of the field work. Secondly, the work of transcription is contextualized in the artisanal process of qualitative research and it focuses on the possibilities it offers to carry out a continuous analysis in the research process. Finally, the article discusses the ethical dimension of the literal transcription as a process through which we return the people that offered they time and they word to the research in the form of listening.

One of the primary endeavors of choral conductors is the facilitation of good choral tone, which is largely dependent upon the vocal technique of the individual singers. This chapter examines principles of historical vocal pedagogy, discussing their correlation with modern scientific research, and present suggestions for practical implementation of specific techniques in choral rehearsals. The chapter discusses four primary areas of vocal pedagogy in choral rehearsals: first, the significance of laryngeal position in choral singing; second, principles of resonance in singing and their impact on the choral sound; third, a discussion of breath support in choral singing; and fourth, principles of phonation and vocal production for singers in a choral setting. Each of these four discussions contain practical suggestions for the application of specific practices and exercises that will strengthen the vocal technique of choral singers.

The article describes the essence and content of academic culture as a significant component of national innovation security. The semantic and terminological analysis of the key concepts of the research like «national security», «human security», «human security of humanity», «human capital» were carried out. The concept of «innovative security» is described as a stable, effective provision of country’s innovations in the economy, creation of conditions for modernization of industries, development of priority areas of fundamental and applied scientific research, technical and technological developments that ensure the competitiveness of the country.It was proved that main features of academic culture are the culture of study at the university, ethical values, traditions, norms, rules for conducting scientific research; scientific linguistic culture, professional subculture of the scientific community; social, moral responsibility for the process and results of the research which is formed in the cultural and educational space of higher education institution. The cultural and educational space of the university is described as a component of the development of human capital and one of the factors of national innovation safety. It is noted that universities must clearly show the values of educational services, be centers of academic culture, act on the principles of academic freedom, public responsibility, respect for human dignity and support adherence to academic integrity in research activities. The formation of the researcher’s academic culture in the conditions of the university’s cultural and educational space is defined as a complex, multidimensional, phased process of qualitative changes in the psychological sphere of the individual, taking into account the main provisions of the theory of activity, intercultural communication; the ideas of a humanistic, acmeological paradigm; concept of continuous pedagogical education.

Este artículo propone un método que permite aplicar de forma práctica, precisa y efectiva un Modelo de Simulación Basado en Agentes del Sistema Regional de Innovación (SRI), el cual ha sido desarrollado dentro del Proyecto “Análisis de la Estructura, relaciones y dinámicas de agentes de los Sistemas Regionales de Innovación” liderado por los Grupos de Investigación GISAI y GTI pertenecientes a la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana sede Medellín. Esta propuesta de método está centrada en una revisión de las necesidades más relevantes de los Sistemas Regionales de Innovación y cómo éstas deben ser suplidas paso a paso a través de la estructura del Modelo de Simulación en su aplicación. AbstractThis paper describes a method of applying a simulation model based on Agents of Regional Innovation System (SRI), which has beendeveloped within the project "Analysis of the structure, relationships and dynamics of agents of the Regional Systems described innovation"led by GISAI Research Groups and belonging to the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín GTI. This proposed method is focusedon a review of the most important needs of the Regional Innovation Systems and how they should be met step by step through the structure of the simulation model in its application.

Resource sharing has become an absolute necessity for modern scientific research because of the increasing expense and complexity of instruments, and the ever changing funding paradigm which often requires sharing of major instrumentation resource across multiple disciplines. Many universities and even large companies have set up centralized facilities to serve researchers from different departments, divisions and units to minimize expenses and maximizing usage.Just in the materials research area alone, it is estimated that there are more than 500 mid-size facilities existing nationwide, as reported in 2005 by the Committee on Smaller Facilities of National Research Council. Resource sharing is also common in large research groups, between Principal Investigators, as well as in corporate/industrial laboratories.

AbstractThe word “sustainable” débuted in 1987 but has since become a hot topic issue, both for scientific research and wider society. Although sustainability may appear to be a thoroughly twenty-first century goal, sustainability science concepts and goals such as balance, endurance, order and change, reach back at least as far as the proto-scientific investigations of alchemy. Both alchemy and sustainability science can be understood as systems or strategies which individuals and societies can use to organise and manage themselves in a complex world filled with dynamic problems. Alchemy never created a panacea or transmuted base metals into gold because those goals proved to be based on fundamentally flawed theories and premises. Nevertheless, alchemy did succeed in helping adherents manage themselves and their societies in advantageous ways. Alchemy also positively and significantly influenced subsequent scientific development. Likewise, science helps humanity manage itself on multiple scales, from the individual to the international, and will certainly contribute to further scientific research and development. However, it is not yet known whether carbon neutrality, entirely renewable energy and other sustainability goals will be achieved or whether these goals will also come to be seen as based on flawed understandings and theories. For this reason, this article explores key features of alchemy, traces how they persisted through Enlightenment-era science and how they continue to be present and influential within scientific efforts today. The article goes on to reflect on how the history, development and continued use of concepts such as balance, endurance, order and change may be useful portents of how humans and human society will manage themselves in the future. Such reflections may also temper the zeal with which individuals that accept or reject sustainability goals treat each other, thereby offering a way for divergent groups to manage their interactions. Flawed theories prevented alchemy from achieving many of its primary stated goals. However, alchemy was very beneficial, both during its period of use and subsequently through its influence on subsequent development. This article identifies ideas from alchemy that were originally beneficial and that have persisted through Enlightenment-era science and into contemporary science. The article also explores how those ideas continue to influence scientific and sustainability goals today. Understanding and reflecting on alchemy’s successes and failures facilitates reflection on the potential successes and failures of sustainability and the human consequences of trying to manage a sustainable future.

The deficit (knowledge transmission) model of science communication is widespread and resistant to change, highlighting the limited influence of science communication research on practice. We argue that scholar–practitioner partnerships are key to operationalizing science communication scholarship. To demonstrate, we present a transformative product of one such partnership: a set of ethics and values competencies to foster effective communication with diverse audiences about scientific research and its implications. The 10 competencies, focused on acknowledging values, understanding complexities of decision making, strategies to deal with uncertainty, and diversifying expertise and authority, provide a guiding framework for re-envisioning science communication professional development.
