The purpose of the study was to reveal the essence of the concept of «innovative didactic potential», its formulation and defining the component composition; substantiation of the diagnostic program for determining the quantitative value of the index of innovative diagnostic potential and selection of conditions for its formation. We understand under the innovative didactic potential an integrated indicator of innovative abilities of an individual, which is revealed in the educational environment in the process of didactic interaction and is displayed in the system of attitudes to the innovative field of activity. To achieve the goal, the following research methods were applied: analysis, synthesis, generalization, systematization − to determine the conceptual apparatus of research, namely, innovative didactic potential, potential index. Methods of comparative analysis, deduction, induction, modeling were applied in the development of a diagnostic program for defining the index of innovative didactic potential. In modern conditions, higher education focuses on the requirements for research and teaching staff in the parameters of innovative educational activities. This implies the ability of research and teaching staff to master and implement innovative methods of teaching and learning. With this aim the curriculum for the training of the third educational and scientific level students provides the course «Innovation in pedagogy, organization and provision of modern classes». Generalization of the results of theoretical developments and empirical findings in the study of the problem of determining and evaluating the index of innovative didactic potential allowed to identify the conditions necessary for its formation: didactic, psychological, organizational, information technology.

Abstract Background Our transition to an “information society” means that Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become integral to our lives. ICT has also become an essential aspect of medical institutions and healthcare settings. Healthcare professionals, especially nurses are required to use ICT in their daily work. In Lebanon, however, due to political factors, many universities have not introduced technology or any form of ICT in their curricula. Institutions of higher education do use technology in various ways, however, successful incorporation of ICT in education requires acceptance by instructors who are expected to use ICT in teaching practices. Although international findings reveal that ICT should be used in nursing education, some faculty members experience difficulty integrating it. Method A mixed methodological research approach was used to investigate the attitudes of nursing teaching staff toward the use of ICT in nursing education. Results Our findings revealed three categories of faculty with differing attitudes to the use of ICT in teaching and learning: pioneers, faculty members who have developed positive attitudes toward ICT usage; followers, faculty members with neutral attitudes; and resisters, faculty members with negative attitudes. Conclusions Identification of the nursing faculty members’ attitude toward ICT and the challenges faced by them contributes to the integration of ICT into nursing curricula and further development of educational practices.

Burnout is a reality in the teaching profession. Specifically, teaching staff usually have higher burnout rates. The present study aims to analyze the different burnout profiles and to verify if there were differences between burnout profiles in depressive symptomatology and in the self-esteem of the teachers at school. The total number of participants was 210 teachers from 30 to 65 years. The first scale was the Maslach burnout inventory, the second scale was the Self-Rating depression scale and the third scale was the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale. The latent class analysis identified three burnout profiles: the first group with a high level of emotional exhaustion, low personal accomplishment and depersonalization (high burnout); the second group with low emotional exhaustion, low depersonalization and high personal accomplishment (low burnout) and the third group with low depersonalization, low emotional exhaustion and low personal accomplishment (moderate burnout). The results revealed that there were differences in depressive symptomatology (group 1 obtained higher scores than group 2 and group 3) and self-esteem (group 2 obtained higher scores than group 1). The psychological balance and health of teachers depend on preventing the factors that have been associated with this syndrome.

Stratification of higher education is currently being driven by public funding schemes, among other things. Building on a survey of excellence funding initiatives across OECD member countries based on the measurement of excellence in higher education institutions, this contribution focuses on how teaching and learning are integrated into these highly selective funding mechanisms. It turns out that teaching performance is generally much less significant than research. Possible reasons and consequences for this result are discussed.
