In many countries, most of the government relies heavily on tax revenue to finance the government expenditures. In Malaysia, 78.8% of the source of revenue is from tax revenue and mainly contributed by the corporate income tax. The past literature has documented that good corporate governance could increase the firm's performances as well as tax compliance. Malaysia has published its own code of corporate governance in March 2000 and was revised in 2007, 2011 and 2012. Recently, in April 2016, the Security Commission released the recommended MCCG 2016. Thus, judging from the importance of maintaining tax collection, this paper aims to examine the importance of corporate governance in ensuring tax compliance among public listed companies in Malaysia. This study finds that corporate governance does influence tax compliance and multiple directorships is the most significant in influencing tax compliance.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed economic and social developments and arrangements throughout the world. This pandemic requires the Government together with elements of the community to make efforts to prevent the spread of the virus and economic recovery. In the context of maintaining sustainable development in the midst of dynamic fundamental challenges, the National Budget as an instrument of fiscal policy is designed to be more productive, effective, and efficient in order to accelerate economic growth for welfare and improve the government's balance sheet. Global economic activity has been disrupted due to lockdown policies in a number of Indonesia's major trading partners, which has reduced supply of important components for industries from abroad. The increasing exchange rate of the US dollar makes the price of imported materials more expensive. On the consumption side, many companies experience cash flow difficulties, thereby reducing their ability to pay taxes resulting in significant tax revenues such as Corporate Income Tax. Significant reduction in international trade activities also resulted in lower tax revenues from imports and import duties. Tax revenues also experienced pressure from falling world oil prices, minerals, and CPO which are important components in calculating oil and gas PPh and export duties. Tax revenue performance is expected to weaken in 2020 with a tax ratio potentially below 9 percent. The government has made the first policy of relaxing the taxation by reducing the burden of business activities and helping to improve the condition of the company's cash flow, especially during and after the COVID-19 epidemic. The company can use a reduction in corporate income tax rates, exemption from import PPh and certain sector import duties, as well as various other tax facilities to cover increases in input material prices and decreased sales so that it continues to operate normally. Both Governments have made efforts to expand the taxation base and improve tax administration. Third The addition of new tax objects, one of which the Government levies taxes on Trade through Electronic Systems (PMSE) and other object sources of excise products such as plastics, sweetened drinks, and fuel oil (BBM). Fourth, from the aspect of tax subject by extending the taxpayers (WP), which are sector-based and regional, increase WP voluntary compliance through effective education and service improvement, including the High Net Worth Individual (HNWI) group. The Fifth Government seeks to improve tax governance and administration starting from business processes, information technology, databases (core tax), organizations, and HR. From government policies in the effort to accelerate economic recovery, there are still various obstacles, especially in terms of regulations or policies prepared as well as technology as a means of infrastructure in supporting these regulations. The regulation or policy must touch on all aspects, namely aspects of tax law, aspects of tax justice, and aspects of the Double Tax Avoidance Agreement (P3B) for cross-border transactions.

This article traces and describes the changes made from time to time, to the calculation and determination of government share, as obtained from corporate revenues and tax deducted based on Production Sharing Contract, as used in the Indonesian natural gas and oil sector. Qualitative data is gathered by performing a legal audit and literature review. The issue discussed here is the disagreement existing between the government and contractor regarding the calculation of recoverable cost (based on the Production Sharing Contract) and amount of corporate income tax imposed based on the prevailing tax law. Based on the review of legal materials and literature, the recommended action is to harmonize these two different tax-revenue schemes.

This research simulates the effect of imposing excise tax on plastic container of drinks towards economic performance of beverage industry in Indonesia and governmentâ˘A ´Zs tax revenue. The results showed that by imposing excise tax on plastic cups and plastic bottles the government would lose tax revenue from value added tax (PPN) and corporate income tax (PPh badan) more than they gain additional revenue from excise tax. Hence, imposing excise tax on drink containers should serve a clear purpose and an undeniable reason. This paper recommends the government to develop proper excise infrastructure to extend the goods or services to be taxed. This paper also recommends the required stages for extending the excise tax.

The study interrogates the relationship between educational level and tax compliance in Nigeria. The study employs the ex post facto research design to ascertain how government investment in education enhances tax compliance. The study covers 17 years (2002-2018) for both tax revenue (a surrogate for tax compliance) and education expenditure (a surrogate for educational level). From the empirical results, the study concludes that there is a positive nexus between government expenditure on education and tax revenue. The study, therefore, recommends that as a matter of necessity, the government should invest more in the overall educational demand of her citizens not only from tax revenues but from other oil and non-oil sources. The governments, from the federal and state levels, should act as a matter national priority endeavour to meet up with the international budgetary benchmark allocation for education, as recommended by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in its Education for All (EFA) document 2000-2015. This will give Nigerians more access to quality education that would result in moving up the global ranking in HDI with its resultant benefits.

Significance Officials are trying to correct high domestic prices which they see as unjustified, and to claw back what they regard as excessive profits earned by metals companies. Impacts Export duties could exert upward pressure on global prices of steel, nickel and aluminium. Exports to the Eurasian Economic Union are exempt, so the government will need a failsafe system to prevent re-exports to third countries. The export duties will reduce the corporate income tax earned by metal-producing regions.

Government Regulation No. 46/2013 has not been optimal in providing legal compliance on taxation for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), especially in Yogyakarta. This policy was evaluated and amended with Government Regulation No. 23/2018. The amendment in tax policy for MSME actors was this research background to examine: First, how does the final income tax policy impact MSME taxpayers' compliance in Yogyakarta? Second, what are the legal compliance constraints of MSME taxpayers? The method used in this research was a juridical empirical, supported with the statute and conceptual approach. The results showed that the amendment in the final income tax tariff policy from 1% to 0.5%, as well as provide legal certainty of the timeframe of taxation had a positive impact on increasing taxpayer compliance. There was an increase in the number of taxpayers to 41,000 in 2019, or an increase of 15.5% compared to the number of taxpayers in 2017. However, tariff reduction has not been the answer to taxpayer non-compliance, the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes of the Special Region of Yogyakarta still found tax avoidance. Tax compliance constraints were also caused by taxpayers' distrust of the government, poor tax morale, and tax knowledge. The government needs to conduct a cooperative compliance approach in taxation policies based on trust and dialogue between taxpayers and the government to improve MSME taxpayer compliance.

Keywords: Tax Compliance; Final Income Tax Regulation; Micro; Small; Medium Enterprises.
