Perubahan fisik dan psikologis yang terjadi pada masa klimakterium akan mempengaruhi kualitas hidup perempuan. Untuk itu diperlukan proses adaptasi terhadap berbagai masalah dan perubahan selama masa klimakterium sehingga akan meningkatkan kualitas hidup perempuan klimakterik. Kurangnya pengetahuan dan akses informasi merupakan tantangan besar yang dihadapi oleh wanita menopause. Salah satu upaya yang bisa dilakukan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan adalah melalui pemberian pendidikan kesehatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendidikan kesehatan tentang menopause terhadap perubahan kualitas hidup perempuan klimakterik. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian quasy experimentdengan rancangan pretest and posttest nonequivalent control group design. Penelitian dilakukan di Dusun Gamping Kidul Ambarketawang bulan Desember 2013-April 2014. Jumlah populasi sebanyak 271 orang. Sampel terdiri dari 44 orang kelompok intervensi dan 44 orang kelompok kontrol. Kelompok intervensi diberikan pendidikan kesehatan sebanyak 4 kali ceramah dan diskusi kelompok kecil, serta 1 kali praktik relaksasi dan senam yoga. Kelompok kontrol diberikan booklet tentang perubahan masa menopause, tanda dan gejala, nutrisi masa menopause, dan penatalaksanaan menopause. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah WHOQOL-BREF. Analisis yang digunakan adalah uji Paired t-test, Independent Samples t-Testdengan α 0.05.Nilai rata-rata kualitas hidup pretest pada kelompok intervensi sebesar 51,9 dan posttest sebesar 66,5. Hasil uji paired t-test menunjukkan ada perbedaan skor kualitas hidup sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pendidikan kesehatan pada kelompok intervensi (t =14,436, p=0,001). Namun tidak bermakna pada kelompok kontrol (t=1,059, p= 0,0295) dengan perubahan skor kualitas. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa program pendidikan kesehatan tentang menopause dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup perempuan selama periode klimakterium.Kata kunci: Klimakterium, kualitas hidup, menopause, pendidikan kesehatan.Influence of Health Education about Menopause towards the Quality of Life Changes in Climacteric Women AbstractPhysical and psychological changes that happen at the climacterium period would influence the quality of life in climacteric women. Therefore, the adaptation process is needed to overcome problems and changes during this period so that the quality of life of climacteric women could be increased. Lack of knowledge and access to information are major challenger that were faced by menopause women. One of efforts that can be done to improve their knowledge is through health education. This study aimed to identify the influence of health education about menopause towards the quality of live changes in climacteric women. The study used quasi experiment design with pretest and posttest nonequivalent control group. The location of this study was in Gamping Kidul Ambarketawang Village in December 2013 to April 2014. The total population is 271 people. Sample consisted of 44 people in the intervention group and 44 people in the control group. The intervention group received 4 times health education and small group discussion, as well as once relaxation and Yoga. Participants in control group received a booklet about menopause, signs and symptoms, nutrition during menopause period, and management of menopause. The quality of life was measured using WHOQOL-BREF. Analysis used paired t-test, independent samples t-test with α = 0.05. The mean scores of quality of life for intervention group were 51.0 (pretest) and 66.5 (posttest). The paired t-test showed that there was a significant difference of quality of life score before and after health education in the intervention group (t =14,436, p=0,001). However, there was no significant difference of quality of life in the control group (t=1,059, p= 0,0295). Based on this results, it can be concluded that health education program about menopause can increase quality of life of climacteric women. Abstract Introduction Thalassemia, as the most common chronic hereditary blood disorder in humans, can impose many adverse effects on parents and their affected children. On the other hand, positive thinking is the method or the result of a positive focus on a constructive issue, so by teaching positive thinking, we can improve physical and social function, and promote emotional health and overall quality of life. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of positive thinking training on the quality of life of parents of adolescents with thalassemia. Methods This quasi-experimental study was performed on 52 parents of adolescents with thalassemia who attended Taleghani Hospital in Golestan province, Iran in 2017. Samples were randomly assigned into two groups of intervention and control. The positive thinking training (based on the theory of Martin Seligman) was carried out in the intervention group in 10 (45–60 min) sessions over a 5-week period. Data collection tools in this study were the World Health Organization (WHO) quality of life questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) and a demographic information questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS-16 software using independent t-test, the paired t-test and a covariance test. Results The results of paired t-test showed a significant difference in the score of quality of life in intervention group before and after the intervention (p < 0.001). However, this test did not show any significant difference in the control group (p = 0.11). The covariance test, after removing the pre-test score, showed a significant difference between the intervention and control groups in terms of the score of quality of life, so that 13% of the changes after the intervention were due to the intervention (p = 0.009, η = 0.13). Conclusion The positive thinking training increased the quality of life of parents of adolescents with thalassemia. Therefore, using this program can be an effective way of improving the quality of life of parents. Thus, positive thinking training is suggested to be used as an effective strategy for increasing the quality of life of parents with ill children.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) affects various aspects of quality of life (QoL), and self-care is the most important form of primary care and one of the main factors involved in the process of treating chronic diseases and improving the patients’ QoL. Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the effect of self-care education on the QoL of TB patients. Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 110 TB patients referred to the TB coordinating Center in Zahedan, Southeastern Iran, in 2018, are studied. Participants were selected using convenience sampling and were randomly assigned to the intervention (n = 55) and control (n = 55) groups. Data were collected using the tuberculosis quality of life-version 2 (TBQol-v2). For the intervention group, first, patients and their caregivers were divided into groups compromising of 4 to 6 members, and then three sessions of self-care education, including lectures and questions and answers meetings, each lasted for 30 minutes (in total 90 minutes) were provided to each group. Data were analyzed in SPSS version 21 using descriptive statistical tests, independent t-test, paired t-test, and chi-squared test. Results: Mean of the total QoL score of the two groups before the intervention was 67.56 ± 5.99 and 67.09 ± 5.03, respectively, indicating no significant difference (P = 0.65). But after providing the intervention, the mean score of patients QoL in the intervention group (74.84 ± 4.90) was significantly higher than the control group (67.98 ± 0.68) (P = 0.001). Conclusions: Since self-care education can effectively enhance the QoL of TB patients, it is recommended to provide such educations for both treatment and follow-up of these patients along with directly observed treatment, short-course (DOTS).

AbstractBackgroundOne of the factors associated with readmission is inappropriate sexual activity after myocardial infarction (MI). This study aimed to assess the effect of peer education on the sexual quality of life (SQOL) in patients with MI.MethodsIn this randomized controlled clinical trial, 70 patients with MI meeting the inclusion criteria were assigned to experimental or control groups using block randomization. Peer education for the intervention group was provided on the third day after MI. Education sessions lasted from 90 to 120 minutes. Data were collected using demographic, sexual quality of life-female (SQOL-F), and sexual quality of life-male (SQOL-M) questionnaires during the fourth week after MI.ResultsThere was no significant difference between the two groups before the intervention in terms of demographic and SQOL. The mean of SQOL in the peer education group was significantly higher than the control group at the 4-week follow-up.ConclusionsAccording to the results, using peer education is recommended for the sexual health care professionals.

Background: Salivary pH is one of factor which involved in caries development. Decreasing of salivary pH will cause enamel demineralization. Miswak (Salvadora persica) as a toothbrush because it has mechanical and chemical effects such as essential oil and bicarbonate which can stimulate salivary secretion. Thus, it will increase the buffer capacity and salivary pH lead to enamel remineralization. Objective: This study aimed to know the effect of toothbrushing with miswak (Salvadora persica) on salivary pH. Methods: The clinical experiment study with pre-test and post-test control group design. The sample of this study is the students of Faculty of Dentistry, Andalas University, Padang. There are 34 students that divided into two groups randomly that is case and control group. Case group used miswak while control group used conventional toothbrush, respectively brushing horizontally for 2 minutes. Salivary pH was measured using digital pH meter in scale of 0.0 to 14.0 with 0.1 sensitivity from pen type pH meter. The data analyzed by Shapiro-Wilk test continued by paired t-test and Mann-Whitney test. Results: paired t-test produced significant value p=0,001 in case group and p=0,000 in control group. Mann-Whitney test produced significant value p=0.317. There was no significant difference in statistic among these groups. Conclusion: Toothbrushing with miswak has effect on salivary pH. Penyakit gagal ginjal kronis atau disingkat GGK, saat ini diakui sebagai prioritas kesehatan masyarakat di seluruh dunia. Pasien GGK akan mengalami  gangguan fisik dan psikologis sehingga mempengaruhi kualitas hidupnya. Teknik konservasi energi dengan pemberdayaan diri dapat diberikan pada pasien GGK dengan tujuan dapat meningkatkan energi, mengurangi fatigue dan kualitas hidup dapat meningkat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan teknik konservasi energi dengan pemberdayaan diri terhadap kualitas hidup pasien gagal ginjal kronik.Hipotesis penelitian ini adalah teknik konservasi energydengan pemberdayaan diridapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup pasien GGK.   Responden penelitian ini berjumlah 47 orang untuk kelompok intervensi dan untuk kelompok kontrol 47 orang responden. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif menggunakan metoda kuasi eksperimental dengan pendekatan pre test – post test control group design. Hasil uji statistik didapatkan nilai p value 0,000 maka dapat disimpulkan ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara  kualitas hidup  kelompok kontrol dengankualitas hidup kelompok intervensi setelah dilakukan penerapan teknik konservasi energy. GGK patients will experience physical and psychological disorders that affect their quality of life. Energy conservation techniques with self-empowerment can be given to CRF patients with the aim of increasing energy, reducing fatigue and quality of life can be increased. This study aims to determine the effect of the application of energy conservation techniques with self-empowerment to the quality of life of patients with chronic renal failure. The hypothesis of this study is conservation techniques of energy with empowerment can improve the quality of life of patients with CRF. The respondents of this study were 47 people for the intervention group and for the control group 47 respondents. This research is a quantitative research using a quasi-experimental method with a pre test - post test control group design approach. The statistical test results obtained p value 0,000, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the quality of life of the control group and the quality of life of the intervention group after the application of energy conservation techniques. Diabetes is a chronic disease that often causes progressive complications in the elderly. Along with the decline in cognitive function in the elderly, it causes dependence on disciplined management of diabetes mellitus. This dependence causes a very important mentoring role to be given. The purpose of this study is to provide knowledge, attitudes, and family skills to care for the elderly with diabetes mellitus at home through the empowerment of elderly cadres in Lampung. This research method is a quasi-experimental research with a control group design with a total of 64 elderly respondents and 64 families selected by simple random sampling technique. The assessment used an instrument for assessing family abilities that the researcher developed included aspects of knowledge, attitudes, and skills. The results of the dependent t-test analysis showed a significant increase in the knowledge and skills variable in the intervention group (0.000) but decreased in the attitude variable with p 0.198. Meanwhile, the increase in value also occurred in the attitude and skill variables in the control group. So that the results of the independent t-test only showed a significant difference in the attitude score (0.000) with the highest score in the control group. So that there is no significant increase in the ability of the family after the implementation of elderly cadres empowerment.

BACKGROUND Despite the growing burden of chronic kidney disease (CKD), disease knowledge and understanding are still lacking, especially in Bangladesh. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of a health education intervention in order to enhance knowledge, health-related quality of life (QOL), and motivation regarding healthy lifestyles among rural and periurban adults suffering from CKD. METHODS A parallel-group (1:1) randomized controlled trial is ongoing in the Mirzapur subdistrict, Bangladesh, where two groups of patients with CKD are being compared. Patients aged 18 years and over with CKD (stages 1-3) were enrolled in November 2020. Patients were randomly allocated into either the intervention group (n=63) or the control group (n=63). The control group received usual treatment, while the intervention group received health education through a CKD campaign facilitated by a nephrologist and via mHealth (ie, periodic mobile phone calls) from community health workers. Both groups were followed up for a period of 6 months. The primary endpoint is patients’ increased knowledge measured using the Chronic Kidney Disease Knowledge Questionnaire. The secondary endpoints are improved QOL measured using the standardized EuroQol 5-Dimension 5-Level (EQ-5D-5L) questionnaire as well as improvements in the levels of blood pressure, BMI, serum creatinine, fasting blood sugar, hemoglobin, cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride, serum uric acid, blood urea nitrogen, and albumin to creatinine ratio. RESULTS Enrollment of participants began in November 2020; the intervention and follow-up were completed in May 2021. We enrolled 126 patients in the study. Patients’ mean ages were 57.97 (SD 15.03) years in the control group and 57.32 (SD 14.37) years in the intervention group. There were 45 out of 63 (71%) females in the control group and 38 out of 63 (60%) females in the intervention group. In addition, there were 38 out of 63 (60%) literate patients in the control group and 33 out of 63 (52%) literate patients in the intervention group. CONCLUSIONS It is expected that a combined approach, incorporating both a CKD campaign and mHealth, for health education may be an effective tool for increasing knowledge and improving QOL among patients with CKD. Background: The injury is still a major public health problem throughout the country, where two-thirds occur in developing countries, including Indonesia. In Indonesia, recorded injury cases in 2013 reached 84,277 people (8.2%). The negative impacts caused by the fracture appears, which includes; psychological, social, and spiritual. The Department of Health reported that 15% of patients experiencing psychological stress fractures to depression. Psychoeducation efficient in the treatment process and decrease the symptoms of depression that is a component in the psychological response on the existence of a disability condition. Aim: the research aimed todetermine the effectiveness of psychoeducation to the physical adaptation among fracture patients in public hospital of Jombang Method: this is a quasi-experiment research with pre-test and post-test control group design. There were 16 respondents in control group and another 16 respondents for intervention group which was gathered with consecutive sampling. The data were analyzed with parametric analysis using paired sample t-test dan independent t-test. For testing the data normality distribution, Shapiro-wilk analysis was operated. Result: Paired t test sample stated that there was significant difference in the physical adaptation among fracture patients before and after the intervention of psychoeducation (p value = 0,000 ; CI 95% <alpha = 0,05). In the unpaired t test was obtained p value = 0.000; CI 95% <alpha = 0.05, which indicates a significant difference of fracture patients’ adaptation who has given psychoeducation intervention and who has not. Conclusion: the psychoeducation intervention  increasedphysical adaptation among fracture patients. Nurses must continue to develop and apply the procedures for implementing psychoeducation fractures primarily in patients with the aim to improve the adaptability of fracture patients.

Providing counseling is one of the factors that increase the knowledge and actions of mothers in meeting adequate nutritional consumption. This study aimed to identify the lactation and nutrition counseling towards mother's knowledge and intake in Puskesmas Kebayoran Lama Jakarta. This research was a quasi-experimental study pre-post with a control group design. Sample collection technique used consecutive sampling with 30 respondents in each group (intervention group and control group). Counseling was given 3 times, after giving birth, a child at age 7-14 days and age 35 days. Knowledge and food intake were collected before and after the intervention. The bivariate analysis used an independent t-test and paired t-test with a significance level of p0.05. There was a significant difference in mother's knowledge about breastfeeding between the intervention group and control group after they were given lactation counseling (p0.05). However, there was no significant difference in the mother's nutrient intake between the intervention and control group after counseled (p0.05). Lactation counseling can positively affect the mother's knowledge about breastfeeding, but not for the mother's action in consuming enough nutrient intake. ABSTRAKPemberian konseling menjadi salah satu faktor yang meningkatkan pengetahuan dan tindakan ibu dalam memenuhi konsumsi gizi yang adekuat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konseling menyusui dan konsumsi gizi terhadap pengetahuan dan asupan ibu di Puskesmas Kebayoran Lama, Jakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental semu dengan desain pre-post dengan control group. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan consecutive sampling dengan jumlah sampel 30 responden pada masing-masing kelompok (kelompok intervensi dan kelompok kontrol). Konseling diberikan sebanyak 3 kali, yaitu pada saat setelah melahirkan, bayi berusia 7-14 hari dan 35 hari. Data pengetahuan dan asupan diambil sebelum dan sesudah intervensi. Analisis bivariat menggunakan independent t-test dan paired t-test. Ada perbedaan yang bermakna pada pengetahuan ibu menyusui antara kelompok intervensi dan kelompok kontrol setelah diberikan penyuluhan laktasi (p 0,05). Tidak ada perbedaan bermakna pada asupan gizi ibu antara kelompok intervensi dan kontrol setelah konseling (p0,05). Konseling laktasi berpengaruh positif terhadap pengetahuan ibu tentang menyusui, tetapi tidak untuk perilaku ibu dalam asupan gizinya.Kata kunci: konseling, laktasi, menyusui

ABSTRAKLatar Belakang: Kejang demam yang terjadi berulang akan mengakibatkan efek yang buruk bagi anak, terutama untuk kecerdasan dan perkembangan otak. Salah satu cara untuk mencegah kejang demam berulang adalah dengan memberikan edukasi kesehatan kepada ibu. Edukasi kesehatan dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu, sehingga sikap ibu akan berubah kearah positif. Tujuan: untuk mengetahui pengaruh edukasi kesehatan terhadap pengetahuan dan sikap ibu dalam pencegahan kejang demam berulang. Metode: Desain penelitian ini adalah Quasi Experiment dengan teknik pre test and post test nonequevalent control group pada 58 responden (kelompok intervensi=29 dan kelompok kontrol=29). Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuesioner A, B, C dan media audiovisual. Responden adalah ibu yang memiliki balita pernah mengalami kejang demam dan pernah dirawat di rumah sakit. Kelompok intervensi diberikan edukasi kesehatan tentang pencegahan kejang demam berulang dengan media video, sedangkan kelompok kontrol tidak diberikan intervensi. Analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis bivariat dengan uji paired t-test dan independent t-test dan multivariate dengan MANCOVA. Hasil: ada pengaruh edukasi kesehatan terhadap pengetahuan (p=0,001) dan sikap (p=0,001). Kesimpulan: Edukasi dapat dimasukkan ke dalam rencana asuhan keperawatan ketika anak pertama kali dirawat di rumah sakit karena kejang demam, karena terbukti dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan ibu sehingga ibu dapat mengambil sikap yang positif untuk pencegahan terjadinya kejang demam berulang.Kata kunci: edukasi kesehatan, pengetahuan, sikap, kejang, demamThe Effect of Health Education on Knowledge and Attitude of Mothers in Preventing the Recurrent Febrile Seizures Abstract The Recurrent Febrile Seizures (RFS) could affect the children intelligence and their brain development. Health education is one of the ways in order to prevent the RFS. By providing health education among mothers, it might increase their knowledge and could lead to a positive attitude in preventing the RFS. Aim: This study was aimed at investigating the effect of health education on knowledge and attitude of mothers in preventing the RFS among hospitalized children. Method: This was a quasi-experimental study with pre- and post-test nonequivalent control group with total sample was 58 respondents (intervention group, n=29, and control group, n=29). The instruments used in this study were questionnaire A, B, C and audiovisual media. Respondents in this determination are mothers who have children who have experienced febrile seizures and have been hospitalized. The video guidelines on RFS prevention was performed in the intervention group, while there was no intervention performed in the control group.Data was analysed with univariate (paired t-test and unpaired t-test) and multivariate with MANCOVA. Result: There was a significant effect of health education on knowledge (p=0.001), and attitude (p=0.001). Conclusion: Health education should be included in the nursing care plan when the children with RFS were admitted to the hospital.Keywords: Health education, knowledge, attitude, febrile, seizures
