Numerous research studies are conducted in communities surrounding universities. This paper illustrates the value of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in South Africa as stakeholders in an intermediary platform that can contribute to community development, based on research done by university researchers in these communities. The Quintuple Helix Model was used as a theoretical premise, viewing the importance of collaborative partnerships to contribute to sustainable development. The orientation enhanced in this paper is that research findings obtained from communities, in combination with the shared speciality areas and expertise of stakeholders such as NGOs, would serve as dynamic catalysts to bring stakeholders and researchers together in an innovative intermediary platform context that can facilitate development. A triangulation mixed-method design was used where a focus group discussion was held with 19 participants from NGOs, augmented by an open-ended questionnaire. The results indicated that NGOs can be viewed as strategic partners in community development and indicated how they could contribute in facilitating the implementation of research recommendations done by university researchers. RADICALIZATION AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF INCLUSIVE CULTURE IN WEST JAVA, INDONESIA. The aim of the Community Engagement (PPM) research is to explain efforts to deal with radicalization so that the country is not centric in the form of inclusive cultural development. The description seeks to trace the interpretation of Jatinangor District, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province. This was motivated by the tendency to strengthen radical understanding which was observed in West Java after the Reformation era in Indonesia. Strengthening radicalization can trigger the development of a culture of intolerance, verbal and physical violence, and exclusivism that is not impossible to bring the potential for national disintegration or threat to security in Indonesia. The study attachments in this PPM are Problem-Based Learning and Community-Based Research (CBR). Especially, in constructing ideas that are relevant to efforts so that problems in the community can be faced optimally. The formation of an inclusive culture is thought to enable the openness (inclusiveness) of society, tolerance, pluralism, collaboration and cooperation to control the diversity of identities in society. PPM is a follow-up from previous research which found that efforts to deal with radicalization were still state-centric. Based on the results of the PPM, it was concluded the need for awareness-raising and societal empowerment activities on an ongoing basis to deal with radicalization.

Abstract This article integrates a critical race (CRT) and intersectional conceptual lens to illuminate racial power dynamics when white-dominated non-profit organizations engage a collaborative strategy in communities of colour. Utilizing this integrated lens, we also critically assess our own positionality as researchers conducting community-based research in communities of colour. CRT and intersectionality broadens our explanatory power by providing the methodological tools – storytelling, critical autoethnography and narrative that illuminate the experiences of people of colour, and contradicts the majoritarian research narrative that dominates our understanding on non-profit collaborative strategy in communities of colour. Through this approach, we provide an insight and offer practical suggestions that enable a more just and inclusive community development praxis.
