The study aimed to investigate the false memory level, and the effectiveness of a metamemory training program in rejecting false memory events among preschool children. The sample of this study consisted of 30 children of preschool stage from Bane Obaid educational directorate, Jordan which was equally divided randomly into experimental and control groups.The Deese-Roediger- McDermott (DRM) was used to measure false memory level. A meta-memory training program was developed also and applied after establishing its validity and reliability over 8 weeks with 2 sessions per week. The results showed that the preschool children had a high level of false memory, and that a statically significant decrease (p. = 0.05) in the mean of false memory scores of the experimental group in comparison with the control group on the post and the follow up tests.

IntroductionAutistic children could not organize their social life direction and understanding and interpreting other sensation and only achieve so many information by looking others and instinct for creating the best space for achieving success.ObjectiveThe present study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of a multi-dimensional training program, using a combination of TICH and ABA on improving the behavior of autistic children in the city of Karaj.MethodThe population in this study was all autistic students in a boys exceptional children school in city of Karaj. All participants (n = 16) were randomly assigned in two groups, experimental group (n = 8), and control group (n = 8). This research was carried out experimentally, and multi-dimensional training program was carried out on experimental group in the context of 12 training session for 2 months and two-hour sessions per week. During this time, the control group did not receive any training. In order to collect data the Autism Diagnostic Inventory that was proven its validity and reliability has been used.The collected data were analyzed with co-variance method.ResultThe results showed that the multi-dimensional training program had significant influence on social and verbal communication skills and the reduction of stereotyped behaviors in autistic children.ConclusionTherefore, we can plan a multi-dimensional approach as a comprehensive training program for this group of children and used it weekly as an independent course in autistic children academic schedule.Disclosure of interestThe authors have not supplied their declaration of competing interest.

Abstract Background To compare the aqueous humor (AH) and the serum clusterin levels of patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX), pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (PEXG), and primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) with each other and with an age- and sex-matched control group. Methods This prospective, cross-sectionalstudy evaluated 92 eyes from 92 adult cases of uncomplicated phacoemulsification and posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. The cases were divided into PEX, PEXG, POAG, and control groups. Serum samples were taken from the antecubital vein just before the surgery, and the AH samples were aspirated at the beginning of the surgery. Kruskal-Wallis H, One-way ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U with Bonferroni correction and Chi-Square tests were used for statistical analysis. Results The serum clusterin levels were the highest in the PEXG group, but no statistically significant differences were observed between the groups (p=0.633). The mean AH clusterin levels were 286.79±29.64 μg/mL in the PEXG group, 263.92±31.70 μg/mL in the PEX group, 272.59±49.71 μg/mL in the POAG group, and 193.50±62.38 μg/mL in the control group (p< 0.001). This came out to be 1.48 times increase for the PEXG group, 1.36 for the PEX group, and 1.41 for the POAG group when compared with the control subjects. Conclusions A higher level of clusterin in the anterior chamber was found to be associated with PEX and PEXG. In addition, a high level of anterior chamber clusterin in POAG, which is a new finding, showed that this molecule might be important not only in pseudoexfoliation, but also other types of glaucoma like POAG.

The study aimed to reveal the effectiveness of a training program to reduce stuttering disorders in primary school students in Ajloun schools in Jordan. Five dimensions of stuttering disorders were identified. Third grade students in Ajloun Elementary Boys School were distributed equally to experimental and control group. Ij study, there is statistically significant in all disorders of the dimensions of stuttering in the third grade primary students are differences in the two measurements prior and subsequent to the performance of the control and experimental groups students due to the training program used in the study, for the experimental group, which underwent a program to reduce the severity of stuttering students.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Behavioral Counseling with a modeling technique through lesson study to improve Self Nurturance in class X BDPM A SMK Negeri 1 Singaraja. This research includes "quasi experiment". The experimental design used was Pretest Postest Control Group Design. The population of this research is 71 grade X students of SMK Negeri 1 Singaraja. Through random sampling techniques, 34 students were placed in the experimental group and 37 students were placed in the control group. The method of data collection in this study used the method of observation, interviews, diaries and the Self Nurturance questionnaire. The self nurturance questionnaire has been tested for its validity and reliability. Analysis of questionnaire data using the Cronbach Alpha method. The study used the Independent Samples t-test with the help of JASP Version 0.7.5.5 showing the value of the hypothesis test results using Independent Samples t-test, getting t = 9,347 with p <0.05. Effect Size (ES) testing shows a high level of effectiveness (ES = 2.221). These results prove that behavioral counseling with effective modeling techniques to improve Self Nurturance class X students at SMK Negeri 1 Singaraja.

目的:探讨团体心理咨询对大学生自尊提升的干预效果以及内在影响机制。方法:招募18 名大学生为研究对象,采用实验组与控制组前后测量的实验设计,实验组接受为期6 周的自尊提升团体心理咨询,使用自尊量表、人际关系综合诊断量表和大五人格量表进行测试。结果:团体心理咨询后,实验组被试的自尊水平提高[(32.67±3.12)vs.(29.33±3.24), p< 0.001],人际关系综合诊断量表总分[(6.62±3.66)vs.(12.00±5.27), p< 0.001] 及人际关系维度分数[(2.11±1.36)vs.(4.00±1.94),p= 0.009] 下降,大五人格问卷外倾性[(3.51±0.31)vs.(3.30±0.41) ,p= 0.002] 与责任心[(3.65±0.34)vs.(3.43±0.35) ,p= 0.026] 分数提高。结论:团体心理咨询对大学生自尊提升的干预有效,这一干预效应存在潜在的长期效应,其内在机制可能是人际关系困扰的降低;自尊提升能够内化成为个体人格外倾性的一部分。 Objectives: This study is focused on a six-week group psychological guidance to enhance self-esteem and to explore its intrinsic mechanism. Methods:Totally 18 students were randomly assigned to one of two group: experimental group(n=9) and control group(n=9). The experimental group received six-week training program to enhance self-esteem, as compared as control group who received only baseline and post-six-week measurement which included the self-esteem scale,the interpersonal relationship comprehensive diagnosis scale, and the Big Five personality scale. Results: After the training program, the experimental group’s selfesteem was improved [(32.67±3.12)vs.(29.33±3.24)], total score[(6.62±3.66)vs.(12.00±5.27)] and inter-personal communication[(2.11±1.36) vs.(4.00±1.94)] score of the interpersonal relationship comprehensive diagnosisscale were declined, and score of extraversion[(3.51±0.31)vs.(3.30±0.41)] and conscientiousness[(3.65±0.34)vs.(3.43±0.35)] were increased. Conclusion: It proves that group psychological guidance could enhance students’ self-esteem for a long time, and self-esteem could be a part of personality. The most important is that the improvement of relationship skills could explain why group psychological guidance could enhance self-esteem.

ABSTRACTBackground:Several studies have shown an increase in memory performance after teaching mnemonic techniques to older participants. However, transfer effects to non-trained tasks are generally either very small, or not found.Methods:The present study investigates the efficacy of a multifactorial memory training program for older adults living in a residential care center. The program combines teaching of memory strategies with activities based on metacognitive (metamemory) and motivational aspects. Specific training-related gains in the Immediate list recall task (criterion task), as well as transfer effects on measures of short-term memory, long-term memory, working memory, motivational (need for cognition), and metacognitive aspects (subjective measure of one's memory) were examined. Maintenance of training benefits was assessed after seven months.Fifty-one older adults living in a residential care center, with no cognitive impairments, participated in the study. Participants were randomly assigned to two programs: the experimental group attended the training program, while the active control group was involved in a program in which different psychological issues were discussed.Results:A benefit in the criterion task and substantial general transfer effects were found for the trained group, but not for the active control, and they were maintained at the seven months follow-up.Conclusion:Our results suggest that training procedures, which combine teaching of strategies with metacognitive–motivational aspects, can improve cognitive functioning and attitude toward cognitive activities in older adults.

AbstractThis study investigated the effectiveness of a specialized strength training program on maximal handgrip strength in young wrestlers. 72 young wrestlers (36 children: 8–10 years-old and 36 adolescents:13–15 years-old) participated in the present study. Both age-categories were assigned into a training group (18 children and 18 adolescents) and a control group (18 children and 18 adolescents). The training groups, in conjunction with the wrestling training performed a 4-month (2 sessions/week) specialized handgrip training program. Maximal handgrip strength was evaluated pre, at the intermediate (2 months) and at the completion of the program (4 months). Maximal handgrip strength values increased during the intermediate and post-training measurements compared to pre-training measurement in training and control groups (p<0.001). No significant differences were observed on pre-training and intermediate measurements between groups, while significant differences were observed during the post-training measurement. Training group exhibited significantly (p<0.01) greater maximal handgrip strength values than the control group irrespective of age-category and hand-preference. A 4-month handgrip strength training program, incorporated into the conventional wrestling training, provokes greater adaptations in maximal handgrip strength than the wrestling training per se. For greater handgrip training adaptations are required more than 14 specialized handgrip training-sessions.

Background: Appropriate breastfeeding reduces health disorders and death among infants. Objectives: The present study was conducted to evaluate the effects of educational intervention based on the extended theory of planned behavior. Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 168 pregnant women from 20 health centers were allocated into intervention and control groups by a multi-stage sampling method. The data collecting tool included demographic and constructs of an extended theory of planned behavior. The validity and reliability of the questionnaire were confirmed by an expert panel and Cronbach's alpha test, respectively. The educational methods encompassed face to face training, pamphlet and flashcards distribution, and clip presentation. Two 45-minute educational sessions were conducted; the data were recollected 6 months after the delivery. Results: The mean ages of the intervention and control group were 29 ± 6 and 28.7 ± 5.9. The pregnancy rate and age of the pregnancy in the intervention group were 2.7 ± 1.4 and 29 weeks, respectively. After the intervention, the mean score of the behavior in the intervention group increased compared to the control group. The intention (B = 0.4, P = 0.01) and perceived behavior control (B = 0.42, P = 0.03) were the predictors of the behavior. Conclusions: The structures of the extended theory of planned behavior are suitable framework to promote exclusive breastfeeding among pregnant women.

Several studies have reported that cognitive training can lead to improvements of complex mental skills such as intelligence. However, attempts to replicate these findings have not been very successful with many studies reporting lack of transferable effects on cognitive processes unrelated to the training task. On the other hand, transfer effects on cognitive processes closely related to the training task have been more commonly reported. In this study, we investigated the effects of a frequently used working-memory training programme on fluid intelligence and specific executive functions (updating, inhibition, switching, the focus of attention, and sustained attention). We remedied common issues with previous training studies by using an active control group, using more than one instrument to assess each function, and including a larger sample size. The experimental group showed significant improvement in the training task, indicating strong practice effects. However, no evidence of training-specific transfer was found in any of the variables investigated, and we could not find any of the previous improvements reported. Participants in both the training and control group showed post-training improvements in most of the outcome variables, suggesting that practice effects can be found even when a task is only performed twice. We conclude by discussing possible explanations for the differences between our results and those reported in prior studies, and recommend that any claims of improvement should be supported by studies capable of replicating them.

AbstractThis investigation examined the effects of a 12-week mini-basketball training program (MBTP) on physical fitness and social communication in preschool children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The study applied a quasi-experimental design. Fifty-nine preschool children aged 3-6 years with ASD were assigned to either a MBTP group (n = 30) or a control group (n = 29). Participants in the MBTP group received a scheduled mini-basketball training program (5 sessions per week, forty minutes per session) for twelve consecutive weeks, while the control group was instructed to maintain their daily activities. The physical fitness test and the parent-reported Social Responsiveness Scale Second Edition (SRS-2) test were performed before and after the intervention. Results indicated that the 12-week MBTP facilitated performance in the physical fitness test, particularly in speed-agility and muscular strength abilities. Additionally, children in the MBTP group demonstrated improvement in SRS-2 performance in social awareness, social cognition, social communication, and autistic mannerisms, whereas no such changes were found in the control group. It may be concluded that the 12-week MBTP could improve physical fitness and social communication in preschool children with ASD, and thus the use of physical exercise intervention as a therapeutic tool for preschoolers with ASD is recommended.
