The discussion of khalqul qur'an is a very crucial issue among the Mutakallimin. The Jabariyyah and Mu'tazilah groups say that the Qur'an is a creature in order to purify Allah from human-like characteristics. In fact, saying khalqul qur'an (the Qur'an is a creature) is the same as negating the nature of God, in the form of kalam. Belief like this will lead to three imperatives: first, as if God as the essence of the nature is a creature. Second, Allah is a mute Rabb, while being mute is a deficiency trait. Third, Allah's knowledge is a creature, because the Qur'an is His knowledge, then how could Allah have created knowledge first in order to have knowledge. Therefore the scholars of the Ahli Sunnah are unanimously agreed that the Qur'an is kalamullah. Among the scholars of the Ahli Sunnah who are very firm in defending the beliefs of the Sunnah are Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal. He not only gave strong arguments, but also refuted the group that said khalqul qur'an with a solid rebuttal. Based on a qualitative method and a comparative critical approach, it was found that, first, Jabariyyah and Mu'tazilah agreed that the Qur'an was a creature. Second, the Sunnah experts in general and Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal in particular insist that the Qur'an is the kalamullah. Third, when their arguments are found, the strongest is the opinion of the Ahli Sunnah. The basis for this difference of opinion is based on their beliefs about the nature of Allah.

Sir,—The letter of your correspondent “Verus,” in the last Number of theMagazine, induces me to trouble you again upon this subject; especially as, if the views there expressed are entertained by any number of your readers, it is evident that so much difference of opinion exists on this question as to render further discussion desirable.

This study deals with objectification, especially towards Elizabeth Bennet (Lizzy), in the classic novel Pride and Prejudice (1813) and the mash-up novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2009) which were written by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith. This study aims to examine how the resistance towards objectification is pictured in the mash-up novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies using Nussbaum’s theory of objectification. As a comparative study, there are some things that will be compared in this study, such as the different time period when both novels were first published, the way the authors pictured objectification, and the addition of zombie in the mash-up novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. This study uses qualitative method with comparative literature as the approach. The result of this study concludes that Lizzy is objectified by Mr. Collins in terms of instrumentality, fungibility, ownership, and denial of subjectivity. The addition of zombie in the mash-up novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies implies as if there is a resistance towards objectification, with Lizzy having the skills of a warrior, while in fact the objectification is real as experienced by Lizzy. In the perspective of comparative literature, mash-up novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies tends to have ambivalence even though it is published in postmodern era. On one hand, Lizzy is able to defend herself from zombie, on the other hand, she still falls victim to the objectification done by Mr. Collins. In other words, the resistance towards objectification in the mash-up novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is not able to protect Lizzy from the objectification done by Mr. Collins.

This study seeks to answer an uproar issue some time ago in social media about the issue of allocating zakat funds for infrastructure purposes. Although, as reported in one of the electronic media, the head of the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) has clarified that the issue is not true and may not be allocated for infrastructure but only for mustahiq. However, it is quite a shocking because already circulating in the social media, especially the existence of MUI fatwa seemed to legalize these activities in the name of fi sabillah. Therefore, the focus of this research is on the fatwa of the 1982 Indonesian Ulema Council about the allocation of zakat funds for productive interests and public benefit in the perspective of Yusuf Qardhawi. This research is library research using a descriptive qualitative method, in which the researcher observes the fatwa of MUI and various Islamic literature, especially on zakat. In order to find the light of the problem so that it can provide the best solution and not make muzakki feel worried about the zakat funds that they have given to Amil. The results of this research are: First, the allocation of zakat funds for infrastructure was not appropriate because there were still many Mustahiq who needed it more. Second, Zakat funds can be allocated if in an emergency such as if in a country education has been controlled by liberals, radicals, communists and atheists. Third, the allocation of zakat funds in the name of Fi Sabilillah must be in accordance with the agreement of Madzahib Arba’ah , which is only intended for people who are jihad in the path of Allah SWT. Fourth, According to Yusuf Qardhawi in the context of this era, jihad can use oral and written words, although it is not the same as jihad in the textual sense (war). However, by using qiyas, jihad (war) and jihad (non-war) can be equated with the same reason namely Nusrotul Islam.

In human-machine communication (HMC), machines are communicative subjects in the creation of meaning. The Computers are Social Actors and constructivist approaches to HMC postulate that humans communicate with machines as if they were people. From this perspective, communication is understood as heavily scripted where humans mindlessly apply human-to-human scripts in HMC. We argue that a critical approach to communication scripts reveals how humans may rely on ableism as a means of sense-making in their relationships with machines. Using the choose-your-own-adventure game Detroit: Become Human as a case study, we demonstrate (a) how ableist communication scripts render machines as both less-than-human and superhuman and (b) how such scripts manifest in control and cyborg anxiety. We conclude with theoretical and design implications for rescripting ableist communication scripts.

<div>The top-down development approach has failed to bring Indonesia in meeting prosperity. Alternatively, a critical approach as offered by Non Governmental Organization (NGO) becomes much more attractive to be adopted. However such approach encounters problematics since each NGO carries its own interest, ideology, and its dependency on donor agencies, normally diametrically collide with another NGO’s ideology, its interest as well as donor-supported interest. This study is to answer the question how deep have donors infleunced to the ideology, interest, and financial independency of local NGOs. The study use qualitative method as approach. The financial arrangement network, action, interest, motives and NGOs’ ideologies are the main focus of this study. Two NGOs are observed, namely Lembaga Kajian untuk Transformasi Sosial (LKTS) and Lembaga Pertanian Sehat (LPS). This study revealed that LKTS and LPS were quite dependent in the financial aspect. LKTS was also dependent in formulating action, while LPS was independent. Some factors affecting the independence of NGOs are: (1) degree of militancy of NGOs’ ideology, (2) financial strength, (3) NGOs’ level of achievements. In the development perspective, NGOs are not necessarily reflecting type of social movement organization which are always strongly based on bottom-up ideology.</div><div> </div>
