To achieve the constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) charge of the lithium battery, the traditional LLC resonant converter requires the switching frequency varies in a wide range, which brings difficulty to the magnetic components design, and the system efficiency would also be degraded. In this article, a novel topology based on LLC and LCL-T resonant tanks is proposed to reduce the range of operating switching frequency. During the CC charge state, the proposed converter is operating with the LCL-T resonant tank, and it can be regarded as a current source, which provides constant charging current to the battery. During the CV charge state, the LCL-T resonant tank is bypassed and the structure of the proposed converter is modified to a traditional LLC resonant converter, and it is functioning as a CV source. Owing to the high accuracy of the CC and voltage sources, the required operating switching frequency range can be significantly reduced when compared with traditional LLC approaches. Operational principles and design guidelines for the proposed converter are described. Experiment and simulation results from a 180 W prototype are provided to validate the theoretical analysis.

To meet the requirements of charging the mainstream rechargeable batteries, in this work, a dual-bridge resonant converter (DBRC) is operated as a battery charger. Thanks to the features of this topology, the required high efficiency can be achieved with a wide range of battery voltage and current by using different modulation variables. Firstly, a typical charging process including constant-voltage stage and constant-current stage is indicated. Then, two different modulation methods of the DBRC are proposed, both of which can realize constant-voltage charging and constant-current charging. Method I adopts phase-shift modulation with constant switching frequency while Method II adopts varying frequency modulation. Furthermore, as guidance for practical application, the design principles and detailed design procedures of the DBRC are customized for the two modulation methods respectively in order to reduce the switching loss and conduction loss. Consequently, the full soft-switching operation with low rms tank current is achieved under the two modulation methods, which contributes to the high efficiency of the whole charging process. At last extensive simulation and experimental tests on a lab prototype converter are performed, which prove the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed modulation strategies.

LLC resonant converter can adjust the output for a wide range of source and load with a small fluctuation of switching frequency, so it is used widely. This paper introduces all arrangements of LLC topological group, then proposes a new topology which is consist of Type-4 and Type-11 that used widely,in this paper we also give its calculate method of resonant frequency. Lastly we get gain characteristics of the topologies in the PSpice simulation environment and analyse the influence factors on adjustment ability in certain load range .

This work presents detailed analysis of LLC resonant converter to accurately predcit the voltage gain of the converter. Nowadays, Lithium-ion battery cells are mostly preferred for on-board electrical vehicle (EV) battery chargers due to their high power density. This results in wide range output voltage regulation for battery charger. The output voltage regulation of LLC resonant converter is provided by the changing of switching frequency. However, conventional first harmonic approximation (FHA) method applying for resonant power converters produces error below resonance frequency. Therefore, the objective of this paper is accurate prediction of the voltage gain characteristic for LLC resonant converter using in EV battery charge applications. The detailed theoretical anlysis of the LLC resonant converter is presented and the presented analysis is compared with a simulation study with 2.7 kW output power and 250 V-450 V output voltage range.

There are altogether three magnetic components in the resonant tank of LLC resonant converter: the series resonant inductor, the parallel inductor and the transformer. The method to realize the magnetic integrated transformer in LLC resonant converter is presented. The design process is provided, and a magnetic integrated transformer is constructed and the test results correspond well with the design values. A prototype of 1350 W, 100 kHz LLC resonant converter type electric vehicle DC/DC converter equipped with the magnetic integrated transformer is built to verify the performance of the magnetic integrated transformer, and the efficiency at 320 V input, 13.5 V/100 A output is 91.5% at the switching frequency of 100 kHz.

Purpose This paper aims to present an 8 kW LLC resonant converter designed for plasma power supply with higher efficiency and lighter structure. It presents how to solve the problems of large volume and weight, low performance and low efficiency of traditional plasma power supply. Design/methodology/approach At present, conventional silicon (Si) power devices’ switching performance is close to the theoretical limit determined by its material properties; the next-generation silicon carbide (SiC) power devices with outstanding advantages can be used to optimal design. This 8 kW LLC resonant converter prototype with silicon carbide (SiC) power devices with a modulated switching frequency ranges from 100  to 400 kHz. Findings The experimental results show that the topology, switching loss, rectifier loss, transformer loss and drive circuit of the full-bridge LLC silicon carbide (SiC) plasma power supply can be optimized. Research limitations/implications Due to the selected research object (plasma power supply), this study may have limited universality. The authors encourage the study of high frequency resonant converters for other applications such as argon arc welding. Practical implications This study provides a practical application for users to improve the quality of plasma welding. Originality/value The experimental results show that the full-bridge LLC silicon carbide (SiC) plasma power supply is preferred in operation under conditions of high frequency and high voltage. And its efficiency can reach 98%, making it lighter, more compact and more efficient than previous designs.

This paper proposed an advanced digital voltage-controlled multi-frequency based constant current source, which is a wide range of loads and high SNR ratio for Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) application. In EIT a constant current source is required for injecting a sinusoidal current pulse to the phantom boundary. The boundary potentials are measured by inserting content current from the phantom boundary according to the variation in frequency and current levels. For studying the wide range of tissue conductivity among different type of subjects (the multi-frequency scanning) is desired in medical Electrical impedance tomography. The proposed Current source, which shows that the simulation has good performance at multi-frequency range with accuracy and stability. In proteus simulation software, the results show that the proposed circuit presents a more stable impedance output and the obtained boundary data at multi-frequency for the validation of the obtained data has been shown using suitable image reconstruction algorithm and is found suitable for image reconstruction much easier.
