The work has been designed to investigate the utilization of milk for consumption of fluid milk and milk products, their distribution pattern, pricing, shelf life and consumer’s preference of Mymensingh municipality in Bangladesh. The study was based on milk and milk products and data were collected from the selected sweetmeat shops by direct interview, of which 20 samples were collected from sweetmeat shops and 7 from goalas. Both tabular and statistical methods were used for collected data analysis. Shopkeepers of different sweetmeat shops received raw milk from farmers (52.6%) and goalas (47.4%) and the highest amount of whole milk was required in per unit production of rasomalai (21%) and ghee (18%) whereas the lowest amount in chomchom (9%). Milk products prices were not remained same throughout the year in this municipality due to fluctuation of raw milk availability and their price. Eid, Puja festivals and other educational activities results that may increase milk products selling especially rasogolla and kalojam. Research findings also showed non-significant difference in case of pricing, distribution pattern, shelf life and selling of milk and milk products following sweetmeats.Asian J. Med. Biol. Res. This work represents a comparative study for the activity of the masseter muscle for patients before trial base denture insertion and the activity of the same muscle after trial denture base insertion for both right and left masseter muscles. The study tried to find if there were significant differences in the activity of the masseter muscle before and after patients wearing their trial denture base using two approaches: parametric statistical methods and a Neural Network Classifier. Statistical analysis was performed on three feature vectors extracted from autoregressive (AR) modeling, Discrete Wavelet Transform (WT), and from Wavelet Packet Transform (WP). The least significant difference test and the student t-test have not proved significant differences in the masseter muscle activity before and after wearing denture. However, using the same feature vectors, a neural network classifier has proved that there are significant differences in the masseter muscle activity before and after patients wearing trial denture base.

To evaluate the quantity and quality of the use of statistics in Austrian medical journals, all “original research” papers in No. 116/1-12 of Wiener Klinische Wochenschrift (WKW) and 153/1-24, 154/1-24 of Wiener Medizinische Wochenschrift(WMW) were screened for their statistical content. Types, frequencies and complexity of statistical methods applied weresystematically recorded. A 46-item checklist was used to evaluate statistical quality for a subgroup of papers. 74.3% of WKW papers contained inferential methods beyond descriptive statistics. Only 43.7% of WMW papers employed methods of inferential statistics. There was a statistical significant difference regarding the use of statistical methods between the two journals (p = 0:009). In addition, complexity and sophistication of statistical analysis was considerable higher for WKW papers (p = 0:02). Statistical errorsand deficiencies were identified in a large proportion of papers. Although inferential statistics were frequently identified in papers from WKW, only a minority of WMW research had analytical character. Types and frequencies of statistical errors identified, did not vary meaningful from findings of similar studies for a wide range of medical journals. There is reason to assume, that the journal impact-factor does not seem to be a powerful predictor for the statistical quality of published research.

Background: In a current scenario, research project and writing a thesis is one of the most important components of PG and Ph.D. studies and a potential area where the students are challenged by lack of structured guidance. Thus the workshop on “Introduction to Statistical Methods & ‘SPSS’ Hands-on Training” was conducted with the objectives, to know the impact of workshop and to obtain suggestions for improvement. Methods: The workshop on “Introduction to Statistical Methods & ‘SPSS’ Hands-on Training” conducted during 7-9 November, 2016 by the Department of Community Medicine, Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Centre in collaboration with University of Manitoba, Canada. The effectiveness of the workshop was assessed by pre-and-post tests using Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ). Analysis was done using paired t test and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Results: A total of thirty six participants attended the sessions. The overall participant opinion about the workshop was positive. Majority of the participants were female. Majority of the participants were in the age group of 30-35 years (33%), followed by 25-30 years (28%). Majority of participants were MBBS (31%), MD (28%), other degree faulty members (22%) and PhD (22%). The mean score in pre-and-post-test was 12.52±6.17 and 13.98±6.50 respectively (Range=2-27) and was found significant difference in the scores between pre-and-post-tests (p=0.002).Conclusions: The recommendations and suggestions given by workshop participants were to increase the duration of the workshop. Participants were satisfied with the teaching methodology in the workshops.

The response of estrus can be enhanced by providing PGF2α and a combination of PGF2αGnRH so that the time of mating using Artificial Insemination (AI) can be held precisely. This study aims to compare the response of estrus synchronization using PGF2α compare to PGF2α-GnRH. Twenty female cattle Ongole Crossbreds, 4-6 years, BCS average of 3-4 were used in this research. Cattle were selected based on their luteal phase at the days of 7 to 18 by rectal examination. Then, all of the cattle were injected by cloprostenol® with a dose of 500 ug intrauterine. Ten of the animals were injected by 2.5 mL of Fertagyl® intramuscularly after 48 hours then continued observing and response estrus detection. The onset of estrus using PGF2α was detected on 75.94 ± 0.78, while 41.57 ± 28.40 hours for PGF2α-GnRH Using statistical, there was a significant difference (P<0.05). Duration of estrus phase using PGF2α was 24.65 ± 0.49 whereas PGF2α-GnRH was 10.88 ± 7.45 hours. Using statistical methods, there was a significant difference (P <0.05). It could be concluded that the use of PGF2α was more effective for the duration and intensity of estrus, and a combination of PGF2α -GnRH is more effective for stimulating estrus.

The aim of this research was to review the leisure boredom perceptions of students who study in the faculty of sports sciences by different variables. 1223 students voluntarily participated in this research. These students study in the faculty of sports sciences in three universities in Turkey and they were selected by random sampling method. 367 of participants were female (30%); 856 (70%) of participants were males. Leisure boredom scale (LBS) that was developed by Iso-Ahola and Weissinger (1990) was used in this research to collect the data. Kara, Gürbüz, and Öncü (2014) adapted this scale into Turkish. Besides, an information form that includes socio-demographic attributes was asked participants to fill. T-test, ANOVA test and descriptive statistical methods analyzed the data. While there was found a statistically significant difference (p<0,05) in boredom sub-dimension in terms of gender variable, there was no statistically significant difference in satisfaction sub-dimension. About the monthly income variable, a statistically significant difference (p<0,05) was observed in both boredom and satisfaction sub-dimensions. However, there was no statistically significant difference (p>0,05) in leisure boredom perception based on the age variable.

Statistical methods are vital to biomedical research. Our aim was to find out whether progress has been made in the last decade in the use of statistical methods in Chinese medical research. We reviewed 10 leading Chinese medical journals published in 1998 and in 2008. Regarding statistical methods, using a multiplet-test for multiple group comparison was the most common error in thet-test in both years, which significantly decreased in 2008. In contingency tables, no significant level adjustment for multiple comparison significantly decreased in 2008. In ANOVA, over a quarter of articles misused the method of multiple pair-wise comparison in both years, and no significant difference was seen between the two years. In the rank transformation nonparametric test, the error of using multiple pair-wise comparison for multiple group comparison became less common. Many mistakes were found in the randomised controlled trial (56.3% in 1998; 67.9% in 2008), non- randomised clinical trial (57.3%; 58.6%), basic science study (72.9%; 65.5%), case study or case series study (48.4%; 47.2%), and cross-sectional study (57.1%; 44.2%). Progress has been made in the use of statistical methods in Chinese medical journals, but much is yet to be done.

In this article an empirical analysis of price volatility was conducted, on the basis of Polish macroeconomic data from 2010–2016 and theoretical framework proposed by Austrian School of Economics. The research was carried out using a number of statistical methods used on price indices representing different stages of production. The analysis allowed to establish conclusions about differing degree of price movements throughout Polish economy and its sectors, where prices of goods produced at the beginning of the structure were characterised by higher volatility than those produced in other branches. No statistically significant difference in price volatility was noted between consumer goods and intermediate goods stage.

The effect of embryo donors and recipients of on milk efficiency of their female offsprings from embryo-transfer was followed. Heifers and cows of Czech Spotted Breed were used as a embryo donors and recipients. The selected characteristics of milk efficiency – the quantity of milk (kg), the quantity of proteins (kg) and content of proteins (%) were analysed by using of variation-statistical methods and analysis of variance (programme Statistica, version 6.0) by the donors (31), recipients (74) and their daughters (74) from embryotransfer. These selected characterictics were analysed in the 1st and in the maximal lactations. Milk efficiency of the recipients was the lowest in the 1st and maximal lactation; the recipients produced 4991.4 kg, and/or 6082.86 kg of milk and 174.79 kg, and/or 213.5 kg of protein; however, this differences were significant (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01). The protein content in % in milk of recipients was 3.45% in the 1st and maximal lactation; i. e. 0.05% more protein (insignificant difference), and/or 0.13% more protein than the donors (significant difference, P < 0.05). Milk efficiency was the highest in the offspring in the 1st and maximal lactation; the daughters from ET produced 938.5 kg, and/or 1804.7 kg of milk more (P < 0.01), 41.28 kg, and/or 67.32 kg of protein more (P < 0.01), and 0.14% (P < 0.01), and/or 0.11% (P < 0.01) of protein more than the recipients, and 305.48 kg, and/or 823.26 kg of milk more (P > 0.05), 0.19%, and/or 0.24% of protein more (P < 0.01) and 28.55 kg of protein more (P > 0.05) in the maximal lactation than the donors. In the 1st lactation the daughters from ET produced 2.58 kg less protein than the donors; however, this difference was insignificant (P > 0.05). There was found the effect of donors was significant on milk efficiency of their daughters and the effect of recipients was no significant on milk efficiency of their female offsprings from embryotransfer. There was found too that already the milk efficiency from first lactations could be using for selection of embryo donors.
