AbstractIn our empirical research, we examined the agriculture of Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County. We surveyed the situation of agriculture through farmers using certain criteria to rank the situation within the framework of a SWOT analysis. The responses received from farmers in the county were quantified and evaluated on the basis of what these farmers have considered to be true. The interdisciplinary study of agriculture is a timely and important task. It can be enforced on the basis of systemic contexts studying not only food production but also environmental issues, preservation of rural habitats, employment, and regional development.

Research on sustainability and sustainable tourism has thus far avoided evaluating how tourists actually understand these terms. Instead, scholars have focused on the supply side, presuming a common and precise understanding of sustainability and sustainable tourism among all tourists and stakeholders. This study shows that most consumers link sustainability only to environmental issues, and understand sustainability differently from sustainable tourism. It finds significant interpersonal and intercultural differences regarding consumers’ conceptualisations of sustainability. The results illustrate that empirical research methodology for conceptualising consumers’ sustainability understanding frequently is doubtful or weak. This research exposes tourists’ limited understanding of sustainability, and helps tackle widespread scepticism about the effectiveness of sustainable tourism, by creating better informed sustainable tourism marketing.

The article is devoted to clarifying the pe-culiarities of forming an inclusive educational environment in the Ukrainian education system and highlighting the strategies for its effective development by conducting a SWOT analysis. Theoretical methods of studying the study and analysis of philosophical, pedagogical and psychological literature were used to identify the state of the problem of formation of inclusive educational environ-ment in science, as well as its importance in the prepara-tion of students of social and pedagogical profile; synthe-sis, induction, deduction, generalization and systematiza-tion of existing scientific research results in order to de-termine the state of development of the problem and per-spective directions of its solution. Theoretical methods of studying the study and analy-sis of philosophical, pedagogical and psychological litera-ture were used to identify the state of the problem of formation of inclusive educational environment in science, as well as its importance in the preparation of students of social and pedagogical profile; synthesis, induction, de-duction, generalization and systematization of existing scientific research results in order to determine the state of development of the problem and perspective directions of its solution. It is established that SWOT analysis is a universal strategic planning technique aimed at finding the new opportunities and identifying the potential risks to effectively define the research object. Strengths of in-clusive educational environment are identified, such as implementation of democratic foundations of public order, existence of barrier-free physical and psychological envi-ronment, elimination of discriminatory manifestations and social stereotypes, emergence of new vectors of teachers’ professional development, cohesion of parental communi-ty, etc. Among the weaknesses are the substantive, func-tional and organizational aspects that determine the activities of socio-pedagogical profile. Possibilities of inclu-sive educational environment are discovered, which in-clude the preparation of social community for acceptance of people with special educational needs, emergence of experimental education institutions, mass media involve-ment in the work on formation of positive image of inclu-sive education, etc. The threats and obstacles to the for-mation of an effective inclusive educational environment are characterized, such as the lack of an adapted domes-tic model of the organization of inclusive education, the lack of a legal framework regulating all Based on the SWOT analysis, strategies for the effec-tive development of an inclusive educational environment were identified, for instance 1) a strategy of using strengths aimed at finding internal reserves, 2) a strategy of using strengths to overcome threats, 3) a strategy of using opportunities to overcome weaknesses, 4) a strate-gy for weakness elimination and threat prevention. It is emphasized that each of the identified strategies is im-plemented through the interaction between specialists of socio-pedagogical profile who are the subjects of inclusive education practice, whose level of professional training will significantly influence the problems of forming an effective inclusive education environment.

This chapter explores how, in a single decade (1995-2005), research into computer-mediated communication (CMC) has evolved by examining the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication (JCMC). JCMC is a peer-reviewed, interdisciplinary, open-access electronic journal that publishes primarily empirical research and presents a significant body of work falling under the rubric of CMC. JCMC has published diverse scholarly articles that further researchers’ and practitioners’ knowledge and understanding of CMC. This chapter synthesizes the research results presented in JCMC during its first 10 years of publication, examining the topics, methodologies, and populations utilized in those articles as well as an interpretation of the trends present in the research. Within the 279 articles analyzed, nine major categories of sample populations and eight different broad research methods were determined, and eleven broad categories of inquiry and scholarship were identified. There was no indication of any clear trends in CMC research.

Natural gas reserves have been recently found offshore of Cyprus. Hence, a new energy sector is under development, creating potential for raised welfare for the small insular EU member. Several social and economic benefits could be achieved from the resources’ exploitation. However, natural gas is a non-renewable energy source, connected with the major environmental issues of fossil fuels. The research goal of this work was to evaluate the sustainability of the new hydrocarbons sector. This was attained using a set of indicators, developed from the combination of PESTEL (Political, Economic, Technical, Social, Environmental, Legal) and SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analyses. These were quantified using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) weighting method. They were pairwise compared and evaluated, resulting to a size for each one. The judgements of four evaluators, representing diverse interested parties, were used. The strengths and opportunities of the sector were found to be more than the weaknesses and threats. The relevant indicators quantification demonstrates also that the value of the positives is higher than the negatives. Therefore, if the first are enhanced and the latter are mitigated, there is sustainability potential. The sectors environmental issues are evaluated as the most important, followed by the economic. The other takes lower but comparatively significant values, and must be handled accordingly. These results lead to useful conclusions and could be exploited for decision-making and policies formulation.
