In the vast theoretical literature, a number of arguments have been put forward in favor of employee financial participation schemes. Although traditionally the main arguments were spurred by objectives such as greater equality in the distribution of income and wealth and improving relations between workers and capitalist owners, today employee financial participation schemes are considered as part of industrial relations based on innovative managerial strategies and more flexible remuneration policies, which should ultimately result in increased enterprise efficiency. Because share ownership and profit sharing schemes are undoubtedly the most popular schemes, emphasis has been put on showing the multidimensional relationships between employee financial ownership and economic results, as well as on proving that the relationship between employee ownership and productivity involves an inherently complex interaction. The purpose of this paper is to present selected views and attitudes toward the relationship between employee participation and company results. The theoretical view and empirical research both indicate that after many years of conducting empirical research on the benefits resulting from the implementation of financial participation plans, the information provided, almost entirely by reports, is not yet sufficient to make any unequivocal conclusions concerning the influence on the results (productivity) achieved by companies. Obtaining such a consensus is additionally hindered because of the lack of clear-cut data concerning the extent to which implemented participation schemes contribute to changes in financial results. In conclusion, both the previous theory as well as the research conducted so far do not convincingly explain the relationship between financial participation schemes and the results achieved owing to their implementation, which demonstrates that there is a need to conduct further research in this field. In this case any empirical approach should concentrate on qualitative, not quantitative research, the latter of which, although broad based, does not identify the above mentioned relationships precisely enough. Another conclusion that can be drawn is the necessity to conduct further research based on larger samples of companies, taking into account the specificity of their business and working environment. It seems that some other aspects should be also taken into consideration, such as the type of the financial participation scheme introduced, because this decision may also have an influence on future results. Research should begin a long time prior to the introduction of a scheme in the company, which would allow for making future comparisons and evaluations of the influence of a given scheme on productivity.

The main objective of this contribution is to provide an account of the development during the 1990s of what has been called PEPPER. PEPPER is an acronym used by the European Commission that stands for Promotion of Employee Participation in Profit and Enterprise Results (including equity). This paper is based on a review of available international research and publications and interviews with country-experts. It makes an attempt to present a systematic overview of existing forms of employee financial participation and the preconditions for its existence. Special attention is given to the policies of governments of the EU Member States and the views of social partners that support or hinder the development of financial participation in Europe.

The epistemology of qualitative and quantitative research In recurring debates on philosophical presuppositions, the opposition of qualitative versus quantitative research is often mixed up with other oppositions like positivism versus humanism. Restriction to empirical research may help to clear the debate. With that restriction, qualitative and quantitative research do not differ in their philosophical presuppositions. All empirical research presupposes (1) a reality apart from our senses, (2) the ability of humans to observe reality, (3) the ability to report observations to others, and (4) the ability to test the validity of reports. These presuppositions are necessary and self-evident in daily life, but cannot be proven. One crucial problem is the relationship between reality and language in communicating facts (empirical observations).

Little is known about variation in the efficacy of financial participation across countries. This article examines the relationship between two types of financial participation (profit-sharing and employee share-ownership) and labour productivity across 29 European countries using a representative workplace survey. Consistent with theoretical expectations, profit-sharing is associated with superior labour productivity when it is open to all employees, whilst the evidence for employee share-ownership is more mixed. Analysis reveals considerable variation in the efficacy of both schemes across Europe. Country-level collective bargaining coverage has the greatest explanatory power in accounting for cross-country variation in efficacy. In countries with higher levels of collective bargaining coverage, profit-sharing performs less well, whereas employee share-ownership performs better, relative to countries with lower collective bargaining coverage. These findings shed light on the comparative dimension of the financial participation–labour productivity link.

The aim of this article is to explore the important role and the emotional intelligence impact on the working environment including summarized research in theoretical terms and transition to practical terms in selected Bulgarian organizations. The adopted approach in this article initially covers the relationship between emotions and emotional intelligence, opportunities for increasing emotional intelligence (ways, techniques), emotional intelligence impact on the working environment. On this basis, an empirical research has been done in five Bulgarian business organizations that are successful and have earned high achievements in human resource management. The research provides evidence of a strong emotional intelligence influence on the working environment. It describes the state of the working environment from the standpoint of the emotional intelligence state of the respondents included in it.

E-commerce has become a familiar and indispensable part in a developing society, contributing substantially to changes in the customer behaviors and demand. In order to meet customer needs, tourism companies in general and enterprises of the hospitality industry in particular must establish their own websites at the service of their business and competition. In this paper, through aggregation of existing theories in the world and quantitative research, the authors conduct an empirical research for the case of four- and five-starred hotels in H?i An City and identify seven factors that affect the satisfaction of online customers (or e-satisfaction): (1) website design, (2) website information, (3) website security, (4) trust, (5) transaction convenience, (6) customer services, and (7) hotel services information. Those results allow authors to offer some suggestions for hospitality enterprises to enhance their customer satisfaction.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether Mudharabah, Musyarakah, and Murabahah financing affected the profitability of Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia for the 2015-2019 period. This type of research is quantitative research. Quantitative research is to explain the position of the variables studied as well as the relationship between one variable with another variable. The research method used in this study uses descriptive quantitative research methods using multiple linear regression test. The quantitative method in this study was to examine the influence of Mudharabah, Musyarakah, and Murabahah financing on the profitability of Islamic Commercial Banks in 2015-2019. Based on the analysis and discussion of data described in the previous chapter on the effect of mudharabah, musyarakah, and murabahah financing on profitability (ROA) of Islamic banks, it can be concluded that the variables of mudharabah financing, musyarakah financing and murobahah financing significantly influence profitability (ROA). This is evidenced by the results of the t test where the significance value of the variable mudharabah financing (0.023), musyarakah financing (0.037) and murobahah financing (0.008) are more than 0.05. The profit sharing system will facilitate customers and the financing system is quite consumptive so that it can contribute to profit levels, which causes profitability to rise.

Purpose This paper aims to examine the level and the relationship between the perception of the performance of takaful operators and the customers’ intention in using medical takaful card among public sectors in Kedah, Malaysia. Design/methodology/approach A quantitative research methodology was advocated to answer the objectives progressively. Data were collected from questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS v22. In total, 313 respondents were selected from three public sectors in Kedah, Malaysia. Findings The review found that the level of customers’ perception of performance towards the customers’ intention in using medical takaful card was high. Besides, the findings concluded that a positive moderate relationship was observed between the perception of the performance of takaful operators and the customers’ intention in using medical takaful card among public officers in Kedah, Malaysia. Research limitations/implications There were three major limitations of this paper. These limitations are further explained in the conclusion. Practical implications This study has provided some major implications. First, on behalf of the public sector institutions, the results of this study clearly showed that the intention of the public sector officers in using medical takaful card should be increased. Second, on behalf of the industry, this study could acknowledge them to improve their performance to increase efficiency, creativity and innovation to create a good impression among consumers. Third, the previous theory and literature related to the perception of performance is suitable to use even in the event that the takaful industry has been proven. Originality/value The paper is useful to takaful operators to provide a good perception of their performance in the process of influencing the customers, especially among the public sector officers, to enrol in the medical takaful coverage.

Abstract This study aims to empirically challenge the moderation of Non-Performing Loans to the effect of Credit Distribution Rates on Profitability. The population of 81 bank companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the period 2014-2018 and which met the criteria of the research sample (purposive sampling) were 22 companies. The research method uses survey methods with quantitative research approaches, the analytical tool used is moderation regression. This study concludes that the level of credit distribution has a significant positive effect on profitability and the existence of the problem loan variable is proven to be a moderating variable that weakens the relationship between the level of credit distribution and profitability.
