Abstract The submitted paper aims to clarify the abrasive waterjet technology, particularly from the point of view of produced surface topography. It provides a new insight into the deformation process caused by the effect of abrasive waterjet and into the possibilities of using the surface topography for solving the issues of optimization of the process. The subject of study is a system of cutting tool, material and final surface topography and optimization of their parameters. The cutting or disintegrating tool of abrasive waterjet technology is flexible. The trajectory of its cut traces is strictly determined here by disintegration resistance at critical moments of tool-material interaction. The physico-mechanical character of the interaction within the cut will manifest itself in the final surface condition. This process can be re-analysed by measuring the selected elements of topography and roughness on the final surface, namely depending on the depth of the cut, technological parameters of the tool and mechanical parameters of the material. The mentioned principle is the basis of the presented solution. It lies in the analytical processing and description of correlation interrelations between set technological and measured topographical quantities in relation to the depth of cut and the type of material.

Quality of the product is the major concern in manufacturing industries from customers as well as producers point of view. There are number of factors in the product such as surface condition, height, weight, length, width etc., which may be consider for the measurement of the quality. Surface roughness and Metal Removal Rate (MRR) are the two main outcomes on which numerous researchers have applied different approaches for several years to get optimum results. In this study, Taguchi Method is applied for getting optimum parameters settings for Surface roughness and Metal Removal Rate (MRR) in case of turning AlMg3 (AA5754) in CNC Lathe machine, which is an aluminum alloy having diameter 20 mm and length 100 mm. The three parameters i.e. spindle speed, feed rate and depth of cut with 3 levels are taken as the process variables and the working ranges of these parameters for conducting experiments are selected based on Taguchi’s L9 Orthogonal Array (OA) design. To analyze the significant process parameters; main effect plots for data means and for S/N ratio are generated using Minitab statistical software.

Accuracy of abrasive waterjet cutting mainly depends on the form of cutting gap. It is very difficult to keep in hand the taper of the gap and produce almost parallel cut surfaces. There are a lot of parameters having effect on the gap. Results of a complex investigation have not been published in the literature. Taper can change at different materials and depends on the applied technological parameters (feed rate, pressure, abrasive flow rate etc.). Some results of research work carried out on AlMgSi0.5 alloy related to the taper of the cutting gap are explained in this paper, mainly from point of view of the load energy which effect to the surface of the workpiece during abrasive waterjet cutting.

Abstract Mechanical behaviour of materials during and after cutting process is depended on various factors. Surface topography is set of factors including mechanical and geometrical properties. From the surface topography, it is possible to resolve the transition from ideally elastic to quasi-elastic and plastic stress-strain states, particularly by finding a neutral plane of cut, where the compressive and tensile components are still in equilibrium. The paper solves the problem of the nonexistence of a new method for calculation of dynamics of stress-deformation states of deformation tool-material systems including the construction of stress-strain diagrams. The presented solution focuses on explaining the mechanical behavior of materials after cutting by abrasive waterjet technology (AWJ) which is a flexible tool accurately responding to the mechanical resistance of the material according to the accurately determined shape and roughness of machined surfaces. Theoretical results were compared by a certified laboratory VUHZ.

The purpose of this research is to analyse the technological and economical aspects of making 3D print pieces to produce functional parts and subassemblies for abrasive waterjet processing equipment. The authors of this paper intend to make a clarification on the technological and economic approaches of material that can be used to make such a reference in terms of economic efficiency and technology. In the paper are analysed all the aspects involved in generating the necessary elements on the mechanical side of them by FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling). The paper is structured in a five chapters in which it is presented in a logical order the analysis of the materials that can be used in the mentioned technological field, the technological parameters specific to the analysed process, the method of generating the parts and their realization from a practical point of view and presenting the main economic aspects that involve the manufacturing costs of specific parts through 3D printing technology for components of water jet processing equipment with suspension abrasive media.

SummaryIn the Marinelli chair, a geometry widely used in whole body counting, the lower part of the leg is seen quite inefficiently by the detector. The present paper describes an attempt to modify the standard chair geometry to minimise this limitation. The subject sits crossed-legged in the “Buddha Posture” in the standard chair. Studies with humanoid phantoms and a volunteer sitting in the Buddha posture show that this modification brings marked improvement over the Marinelli chair both from the point of view of sensitivity and uniformity of spatial response.

Abstract The stone products with different sizes, geometries and materials — like machine tool's bench, measuring machine's board or sculptures, floor tiles — can be produced automatically while the manufacturing engineer uses objective function similar to metal cutting. This function can minimise the manufacturing time or the manufacturing cost, in other cases it can maximise of the tool's life. To use several functions, manufacturing engineers need an overall theoretical background knowledge, which can give useful information about the choosing of technological parameters (e.g. feed rate, depth of cut, or cutting speed), the choosing of applicable tools or especially the choosing of the optimum motion path. A similarly important customer's requirement is the appropriate surface roughness of the machined (cut, sawn or milled) stone product. This paper's first part is about a five-month-long literature review, which summarizes in short the studies (researches and results) considered the most important by the authors. These works are about the investigation of the surface roughness of stone products in stone machining. In the second part of this paper the authors try to determine research possibilities and trends, which can help to specify the relation between the surface roughness and technological parameters. Most of the suggestions of this paper are about stone milling, which is the least investigated machining method in the world.

To implement any successful policy, research about the subject-matter is essential. Lack of knowledge would result in failure and, from an economic point of view, it would lead to a waste of scarce resources. The book under review is essentially a manual which highlights the use of research for development. The book is divided into two parts. Part One informs the reader about concepts and some theory, and Part Two deals with the issue of undertaking research for development. Both parts have 11 chapters each. Chapter 1 asks the basic question: Is research important in development work? The answer is that it is. Research has many dimensions: from the basic asking of questions to the more sophisticated broad-based analysis of policy issues. The chapter, in short, stresses the usefulness of research which development workers ignore at their own peril.

Projects for flood protection are increasingly the subject of investment projects in the field of water management. This is related to the increasing frequency of worldwide threats caused by extreme weather conditions, including extremely high rainfall causing floods. Technical and nontechnical flood protection measures are also increasing in importance. In the decision-making process, it is necessary to take into account both the costs and benefits of avoiding losses, including an analysis of social benefits, whose valuation of non-market goods is an essential element. A comprehensive account of projects in the field of flood protection based on the estimated costs and benefits of the investment allows the economic efficiency from a general social point of view to be determined. Previous evaluations of the effectiveness of investment projects have mainly taken into account only categories and market values. The aim of the article is to identify the possibilities to expand the values of non-market assessments and categories formulated on the basis of the theoretical economics of the environment.

Crimes against marriage and family are a particular group of social relation­ships that the law has defended properly in view of the high public significance and value they enjoy. At the moment they are regulated in Chapter VI, Section I, of the specific part of the Penal Code the Repub­lic of Bulgaria. The subject matter of this Statement will, however, be the legisla­tive provisions concerning these criminal­ized acts in retrospect. The purpose of the study is to show by historical method and through the comparatively legal method the development of these criminal groups during the periods of various criminal laws in Bulgaria. This will also provide a basis for reflection on possible de lege ferenda proposals. This report from a structural point of view will be divided into three distinct points, marking each of the penal laws in the Republic of Bulgaria, which were in force before 1968.
