This research aims to investigate a literacy program at a senior high school level. The researcher obtained the data for this research from Senior High School 4 in Banda Aceh because it has a better English teaching and learning process, and the school implemented a specific literacy program. The participants involved in this research include the school principal, vice school principals, the head of the school library, teachers, and 20 students from science and social science classes. The data in this research was collected using an observation sheet and interview guide to evaluate the literacy program based on the CIPP framework. The research results show that the literacy program at the school includes learning strategies provided by the teacher, the availability of facilities, and student reading interest. Based on the interview results, students were not motivated to participate in the school literacy program. Therefore, it is suggested that specific policy needs to be made and reinforced in order to implement a literacy program at senior high schools.

This article presents the findings of an innovative qualitative study involving one CLIL (content and language integrated learning) student and one student in a parallel, non-CLIL strand at high school level in Sweden. The aim of the study was to investigate differences in students’ beliefs about language. The success of second (L2) and foreign language (FL) learning depends to a large degree on individual differences (Dörnyei, 2005; Skehan, 1991). Differences are normally elicited through questionnaires, interviews, and/or observations. In the present study, the aim was to get direct access to the informants’ own perspectives, without the content being too directed through predetermined questions. In this study, students were asked to take photos illustrating how they view (a) their L1 (Swedish), and (b) the FL/L2 English. Then the photos were thematically organized by the researcher. Subsequently, the thematic organization and the photos themselves were discussed with each of the informants during an inter iew. The informants were asked to elaborate on each theme and/or picture as to why and how it illustrates the respective language for them. The findings reveal substantial differences between the two informants in their views on their L1 and FL/L2, with the CLIL student highlighting communication rather than seeing the two languages as separate systems, and the non-CLIL student seeing language rather the other way around.

Revision is a complex, yet important phase in writing to improve the quality of a text. Some revision models are created in order to explain its components and the ways these components work. However, analysis of available models shows that they are proposed mainly for expert writers, who can complete the complex revision process individually, without the need of support or feedback. Most of the available models also do not include audience as a component. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to introduce an alternative revision model for novice writers at or higher than high-school level with a focus on audience and feedback. Firstly, definition of revision is made, which is followed by summaries of importance of audience and feedback in writing. Secondly, available revision models in literature that serves as the basis of the alternative model are reviewed. Finally, the alternative revision model is introduced with its components and the way these components work is explained. The revision model presented in this paper will contribute to literature on writing by filling the gap in revision models by proposing a model for novice writers and highlighting the importance of audience and feedback.
