Political parties have a strategic role in a democratic country. Indonesian 1945 Constitution regulates the status of political parties in the state life in Indonesia. Political parties are the only organization that can become participants in the elections and nominate candidates to fill political positions. One of the authorities of political parties is to nominate candidates of legislators both at the central and regional levels. In addition to nominating candidates for members of Parliament, political parties also have the authority to dismiss members of political parties in the Parliament. Departing from this issue, this study discusses two main problems related to the authority of political parties against the dismissal of the members of the House of Representatives in Indonesia as well as on construction of the arrangements for the provision of dismissal of members of parliament tied to corruption. This research was conducted with the use of normative legal research conducted through an analysis of the norms of the legislation. The study results show that political parties have a very important role in democracy and running the country. In addition to the authority of nominating candidates to fill political positions in the executive and legislative, political parties are also given the authority to replacement and dismissal of members of the House of Representatives. Related to the dismissal of members of the party sitting in Parliament, the political parties should set very important conditions such as the problem of corruption. This serves as a precautionary measure and efforts to realize corruption-free state officials, because corruption has a very serious impact on the life of the nation. Thus the judicial review provided for in Article 16 of Law No. 2 of 2011 concerning the Amendment Act No. 2 of 2008 on Political Parties needs to be done, and then revised. This is to fill the void of legal norms tied to provisions of the dismissal of members of political parties in the House of Representatives due to corruption.

The implementation of the duties and functions of parliamentarians requires the provision of oversight to members of parliamentary institutions, so that in carrying out their functions the members of the House of Representatives agree between their planning, duties and functions, and the objectives to be achieved. Then of course these supervisors have sufficient competence to understand the duties and functions of DPR members (supervised). At the very least, as supervisors understand better than the duties and functions of DPR members, this is meant by competence. While competence can be created from the academic process, experience and a given authority. Members in the Parliamentary institution, are people who are recruited by political parties to become members of parliament, through a process of social selection (constituents) elected through general elections, to be elected and given their duties and functions and work collectively with the provisions, who hold power in the formation legislation, supervise and carry out the budgeting function.

The author describes the recent changes of rules and proceedings in the House of Representatives, later on in the Senate and finally in both the new «cultural Assemblees», concerning the existence, the functioning and the importance of parliamentary groups and their leaders.Assimilated to the status of Vice-presidents of their Assembly, the parliamentary leaders are in charge of many responsabilities and more attention is given to the parliamentary group as such rather than to the individual members. Seating the members in the House, allocating to their «mandated» members speaking time in important debates, replacing members of their group in the specialized committees, preparing with the Speaker the public debates, taking full responsability for the material aid provided to their group and their members (secretarial help, technical assistance in the committee stage and money supply for research) the many tasks of the parliamentary leaders in the organization of parliamentary work are increasing.Their political functions are much more important. Usually the parliamentary leader sits in the top policy making organs of his party, very often he has had governmental experience and, as a floor leader, intervenes in the important debates.Even if essential differences can be observed between political parties (more freedom of action for the liberals and christian-democrats as a parliamentary group, less for the socialists and the communists) the leader in the Parliament plays an important role as the link between political parties and parliament.

The existence of the House of Representatives (DPD) in including regional inputs in the form of norms has experienced polemics. These polemics include the decisions of the State Administrative Court (PTUN), the Supreme Court (MA), and the Constitutional Court (MK) that are out of sync with one another. This decision has the impact of legal dualism which results in confusion for the General Election Commission (KPU) to carry out its functions and even disharmony between legal norms. This normative research aims to determine the existence of a basis to support the DPD in order to reduce conflicts of interest. As a result, the KPU, when viewed from the normative aspect, the Constitutional Court is the sole interpreter of the constitution because of the authority granted by the constitution in Article 24 C. If so, then the KPU does not have to worry about implementing the Constitutional Court's decision because it is constitutional. That is, the KPU carrying out the Constitutional Court's Decision means maintaining the dignity of the DPR so that the aspirations carried out truly represent the needs of the region without worrying about conflicts of interest because they have as administrators of political parties.

AbstractIn 2006, the Canadian government introduced a new component to its process of selecting Supreme Court justices, a review committee composed of members of Parliament. Tasked with interviewing justices prior to their appointment to the bench, the committee met four times, interviewing only five of the eight judicial candidates appointed to the bench before the Conservative government announced the committee's termination in 2014. This study offers the first comprehensive analysis of the performance of this ad hoc judicial review committee. Using an original dataset, we find that MPs asked little by way of probing questions, such as those related to policy or a candidate's previous jurisprudence. However, we do find some evidence that the hearing process was used to further the political aims of the participating political parties.

Coalitions of political parties built within the presidential system, especially in Indonesia, are non-binding and permanent. If government policies or programs are not famous or inline, political parties tend to engage in opposition. This study aims to determine the implementation of the presidential system with a multiparty system and efforts to realize a stable and dynamic government based on the Indonesian constitutional system. This research uses a normative approach. Types and sources of legal materials consist of primary legal materials, secondary legal materials, and tertiary legal materials. The analysis technique used in this research is the hermeneutic analysis method. The study results concluded that with the implementation of the presidential system with a multiparty system, it is rare for a President to be elected and from the majority party. Furthermore, with the election of a minority President and a majority in Parliament, the President will strengthen his position by forming a coalition. However, building a stable coalition is difficult in a multiparty presidential democracy. In this regard, the institutional engineering agenda that needs to be designed includes simplifying the number of factions in Parliament by tightening the threshold requirements for fraction formation; parliamentary coalition regulations aimed at both political blocs (coalition and opposition); strengthening the institution and authority of the Regional Representative Council to balance the House of Representatives so that checks and balances not only occur between the President and the House of Representatives but also between the House of Representatives and the Regional Representative Council.

Instruments: Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale (Taylor & Spence, 1953) and Children’s Negative Cognitive Errors Questionnaire (CNCEQ) by Leitenberg et al., (1986) were applied in present study. Results: Multiple regression analysis revealed that cognitive errors jointly accounted for 78% of variance in predicting anxiety among adolescents. Findings also exhibited that gender significantly moderated the relationship between cognitive errors and adolescent anxiety. Implications of the findings are discoursed for future research and clinical practice.

Throughout the past forty years various leaders from both major political parties in Australia have categorized the arrival by boat of people seeking asylum as a “crisis” and the people themselves as “illegal.” This is despite Australia being a signatory to the United Nations Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, and receiving relatively few people who seek asylum compared with many other countries. Punitive government policies and processes have further reinforced these representations, such that “crisis” and “illegal” can now be understood as both categories of analysis and practice. The repeated use of such categories may be helping to produce and reproduce prejudice and racism and obscure the needs and experiences of people seeking asylum.
