Adolescence is a transition  from childhood to adulthood. Physical, cognitive, social and emotional changes are happening in this stage. These changes make adolescents become aware about physical attractiveness on social interaction and develop some ideas about their body. Their body growth which not conform to their cultural standard and social reaction to a variety of body form, make girl adolecents become dissatisfied of their body and make a negative value about their body. A negative value about body also makes these girl adolescents become restless and have a low self-confidence. The aim of this study is to know relationship between body image and self confidence on girl adolescents. Cluster sampling is used in this study. Respondents are 492 students of some SMAN Denpasar, and it carried out in each selected SMAN Denpasar. This study use a body image scale by 38 items (reliability : 0,859) and a self confidence scale by 24 items (reliability : 0,881). Product moment is used to test hypothesis in this study and a simple regression is used to determine models of relationship and value of body image variable in explaining self-confidence variable. The results showed that there was a positive but relatively weak relationship between body image and self-confidence on girl adolescents students in Denpasar (r = 0,350; p < 0,05). The result is suitable with Centi’s idea (1997) that person who does not accept and does not satisfied to her body and appearance has low self confidence. The coefficient of determination (R2) obtained in the study was 0.122, which means the contribution of body image variable in explaining the self-confidence variable is 12.2 %, and it is a causal relationship.   Keywords: body image, self confidence, girl adolescents

ABSTRACT: THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PEER SUPPORT AND PUBLIC SPEAKING CONFIDENCE AMONG COLLEGE STUDENTSPublic speaking confidence is influenced by several factors, one of them is peer support. This study aims to determine the relationship between peer support and public speaking confidence in college students. The sample in this study was 70 students of the 2017 Islamic Broadcast Communication Studies Program at the Da'wah and Communication Science Faculty of UIN Raden Intan Lampung. Data collection methods used in this study was self confidence scale and peer support scale. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using Pearson product moment correlation analysis techniques. The results showed the correlation rx-y = 0.817 and the coefficient of determination R2 = 0.667 with p = 0.000 (p> 0.05). This shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between peer support and confidence in public speaking. This study revealed that the peer support made an effective contribution of 66.7% on the confidence in public speaking. Keywords: Peer Support, Self Confidence, Public Speaking, Collede Students Kepercayaan diri berbicara di depan umum dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor, salah satunya dukungan teman sebaya. Subjects in this research are 110 sales promotion girls in Denpasar City. Data are collected by body image scale and perception of productivity scale.  Test of item validity in body image scale shows there are 27 invalid items and 23 valid items from 50 items, and its reliability coefficient is 0,829. Test of item validity in perception of productivity scale shows there are 2 invalid items and 23 valid items from 25 items, and its reliability coefficient is 0,838. Data analysis shows data are normal and linear. Pearson’s product moment is run for data analysis.   Coefficient of correlation between body image and productivity is 0,49 in significance level 0,05. It means that hypothesis in this research that states there is relationship between body image and perception of productivity in sales promotion girls of beauty product in Denpasar City is accepted.   Keyword: body image, perception of productivity, sales promotion girls

This study aims to determine whether there is significant relationship between self confidence and mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru. It is a correlation research where population of all students of fifth grade at SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru consisted of 109 students while the sampling method is cluster sampling. The instruments used are self confidence questionnaire and documentation of student mathematics learning outcomes that have been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis used by the writer is product moment correlation test. The result shows that there is a significant relationship between self confidence and mathematics learning outcomes of fifth grade students at SD Negeri 136 Pekanbaru with a large relationship of 0.345 and it is categorized in low relationship category. This means that the increase in variable x will be followed by an increase in variable y. The coefficient of determination in this study is 0.119 which means that self-confidence contributes to student mathematics learning outcomes by 11.9% and the remaining 88.1% is caused by other factors such as teachers, infrastructure, intelligence and student motivation. The results of this study can provide information about one of the factors that affect student learning outcomes in mathematics so that the school, teachers and parents can determine effective steps to improve student mathematics learning outcomes.

The Draw-A-Person (DAP) test has been the center of a long-lasting debate regarding its validity. This study investigated the DAP indices of height, width (size), and inclusion/omission of details and their relation to body image as measured by a self-report scale (Gray’s body image scale) and manifested by the diet behaviors and body mass index of 55 healthy female students. Although the drawings of the diet group were smaller, there was no significant relationship between figure size and diet behaviors. However, body image as measured by a self-report scale did result in significant differences between groups. Moreover, there was a significant correlation between the size of the figure drawn and body image as measured by a self-report scale (larger figures correlated with better body image). No significant results were found for the omission/inclusion indices of the DAP. These results are discussed in light of previous findings regarding the DAP.

Abstract INTRODUCTION The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of laparoscopic colorectal surgery (LCS) on body image using the validated Body Image Scale (BIS) as a parameter of surgical quality. MATERIAL AND METHODS We conducted an observational descriptive study. Patients who underwent scheduled LCS between June 2015 and December 2019 by a General Hospital Coloproctology Unit were included. RESULTS The sample included 180 patients, 115 men (63.9%) and 65 women (36.1%) with a median age of 67 years. Right hemicolectomies (31.7%) and sigmoidectomies (28.3%) were the main procedures performed. In most patients, a suprapubic (69.4%) or transverse (19.4%) incision was made. 21.9% suffered some type of postoperative complication (13.9% wound complication, 10.6% incisional hernia). The general result of the BIS questionnaire was satisfactory, with a median of 0 in the responses (no alteration of body image). We found that 46.2% of the women had some alteration in body image, compared to 28.7% of the men (p = 0.018) and low and ultra-low anterior resection were the surgeries that obtained worst scores, with 13,5% and 12,5% respectively of patients with a BIS score above 5 (p = 0.044). Patients with a stoma also obtained worst punctuation (25% above 5 vs 6,1%, p = 0.001). No statistically significant differences were found regarding type of incision, presence of complications and anxiety or depression. CONCLUSION Study results show, in general, good post-surgical body image after LCS. However, patients with stoma and women were more dissatisfied. Interestingly, there is no worse body image due to type of incision, so we recommend the least iatrogenic one.
