Relevance. Professional activities of rescuers not only involve a risk to their own lives, but also implies a high degree of responsibility for the lives and health of people affected by emergencies and accidents. Professional success and effectiveness of these specialists determine the outcome of rescue, search and other urgent activities. In this regard, determinants of professional effectiveness in rescuers need special attention and in depth study.Intention. To investigate the psychological determinants of professional success of rescuers.Methodology. The study involved 55 male rescuers aged 20 to 60 years, with different levels of education (from secondary professional to higher). Self assessment of the success of rescuers was determined by a 7 point scale via the question: “Do you consider yourself successful?” (7 – definitely Yes; 6 – Yes; 5 – rather Yes; 4 – hard to say, 50% to 50%; 3 – rather No; 2 – No; 1 – definitely No). Expert assessments of professional success were also performed. Psychological determinants of success were studied using psychodiagnostic techniques: “Socio psychological adaptation” by K. Rogers and R. Diamond, “Professional burnout” by K. Maslach, a questionnaire to identify risk appetite by G. Schubert, the test of resilience by S. Muddy, the scale of psychological well being by K. Ryff.Results and Discussion. With the help of cluster analysis of self assessments, the sample of rescuers is divided into groups with high, medium and low professional success. According to the correlation analysis, external and internal evaluations of success significantly correlated only in the group of rescuers with low self assessment of success. At the same time, expert assessments showed a negative trend, decreasing from a group with high to a group with professional success. Indicators of social and psychological adaptation, risk appetite, psychological well being and resilience also show negative trends. Meanwhile, indicators of professional burnout show positive trends and increase from the group with high professional success to the group with low professional success.Conclusion. Psychological traits, such as adaptability, resilience, psychological well being, risk appetite, resistance to professional burnout are the determinants of the success of rescuers and can be used as specific targets for psychological support of personnel of rescue units to improve their professional effectiveness.

The investigation and supporting variables related to the mental health of teaching candidates is important since teachers’ psychological traits will affect students’ personal, social, and academic development. In this paper, the intermediary role of hope in the relationship between the social entrepreneurship characteristics and psychological well-being of teaching candidates was investigated. The sample consisted of 855 teaching candidates were chosen randomly. The data were collected by using the Psychological Well-being Scale, the Social Entrepreneurship Characteristics of the Pre-service Teachers’ Scale, the Dispositional Hope Scale and a Demographic Information Form. In the analysis descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation, and regression-based bootstrapping method were used. The results showed that teaching candidates’ social entrepreneurship characteristics were positively and significantly correlated with psychological well-being and two components of hope (alternative ways of thinking and actuating thinking). Besides, it was found that alternative ways of thinking and actuating thinking had partial mediating roles in the relationship between teaching candidates’ social entrepreneurship characteristics and psychological well-being. The obtained findings were discussed in the light of related literature and suggestions were offered.

The article presents the results of a study of psychological adaptation in patients with cardiac pathology against the background of connective tissue dysplasia, conducted at the Regional Clinical Center for Specialized Types of Medical Care in Vladivostok. It was hypothesized that patients with concomitant connective tissue dysplasia will have lower adaptive capacity than patients without this syndrome. The study involved 32 girls 16–18 years old (M=16.72; SD=0.41) with cardiovascular pathology on the background of connective tissue dysplasia and 32 girls of the same age (M=16.78; SD=0.40) with cardiovascular disease without connective tissue dysplasia. To assess the severity of adaptive capabilities, the following methods were used: the Questionnaire of socio-psychological adaptation (A.K. Osnitsky, 2004), the Multi-level Personality Questionnaire "Adaptability" developed by А.G. Maklakov and S.V. Chermyanin, the Communicative Tolerance Questionnaire (V.V. Boyko), K. Ryff's scale of Psychological Well-being adapted by N.N. Lepeshinsky, the Oxford Happiness Inventory adapted by A. Lisitsina (2003). The significant intergroup differences (p<0.05) were revealed in terms of neuropsychic and emotional stability, working capacity, self-esteem, need for communication, behavioral features, experiences of psychological well-being, feelings of happiness, socialization and adaptation, motivation for activity, tolerance to adverse factors environment, as well as indicators of the communicative capabilities of the individual. The results obtained indicate reduced indicators of psychological adaptation in adolescent patients with cardiac pathology against the background of connective tissue dysplasia. These results can be used in the development of individual psychocorrectional programs to improve the social adaptation of girls with connective tissue dysplasia syndrome.

Many studies have shown that organizational justice (OJ) is related to psychological determinants of employees’ physical and mental health in the workplace, and these health outcomes also lead to the psychological well-being (PW) of employees. Additionally, physical activity is one of the most important issues related to health in the workplace. This study compared the level of perceived OJ according to sociodemographic and lifestyle factors and examined the association between OJ and PW by regular exercise (hours per week) in Korean employees. This study used cross-sectional data obtained from 494 subjects in South Korea. Self-administered questionnaires comprising OJ, PW, and lifestyle factors (e.g., smoking, drinking, sleeping, and exercise) were completed by employees in April 2017. Multiple logistic regression analyses were conducted to estimate the association of procedural justice (PJ) and interactional justice (IJ) with the prevalence odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals of the high risk to PW. After the adjustment of sociodemographic characteristics and lifestyle factors, the main effects of PJ and IJ on the high risk to PW were significantly observed, and when these values were stratified by a regular exercise category, the lowest odds ratio was observed in a group that exercised for 1–2 h (hours per week). Organizations must encourage trust and consideration between employees and supervisors and carry out efforts to improve their environment, such as making the decision-making process fairer and encouraging employees to exercise regularly. This intervention may help prevent a high risk to PW.

Work engagement is widely acknowledged as an influential element in teachers’ professional success; thus, remarkable attention has been paid to the physical and psychological predictors of this construct. Yet, the antecedents of English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers’ work engagement have rarely been studied. To narrow the existing gap, the current inquiry aimed to delve into the psychological determinants of teacher work engagement by scrutinizing the role of psychological well-being and self-efficacy in Chinese EFL teachers’ engagement. To this end, three close-ended questionnaires were given to 304 Chinese EFL teachers via WeChat messenger. Conducting correlational analyses, positive and substantial relationships were discovered between psychological well-being, self-efficacy, and teaching engagement. The function that psychological well-being and self-efficacy may serve in Chinese EFL teachers’ engagement was also assessed using path analysis. Chinese EFL teachers’ work engagement was found to be considerably affected by their sense of efficacy and well-being. Some pedagogical implications that might be noteworthy for teachers and institutional administrators are finally discussed.

The study presents the results of the analysis of the relationship of self-esteem of physical development of adolescent athletes with the parameters of well-being, adaptation and self-relationship. The results suggest that the higher the indicators of self-description of physical development are, the higher the socio-psychological adaptation, subjective well-being, self-relationship and lower individual scales of self-relationship are, for instance internal conflict and self-blame in girls and internal conflict in boys. The gender specificity of self-assessment of physical development is discussed. Sportive girls in comparison with athletic boys have more differentiated self-assessment of physical qualities. Boys consider that appearance is less connected with indicators of self-relation.

The aim of the work is to study time perspective and subjective age as determinants of psychological well-being and health-related life quality of people at the late ontogenesis stage, leading a different lifestyle. Based on the results of the ZPTI Questionnaire (F. Zimbardo), «Age-of-me» (B. Barak), SF-36 «Health status survey» and «Psychological well-being Scales» (К. Riff) the features of the time perspective, subjective age, health self-assessment and psychological well-being are analyzed in groups of pensioners (58–93 years old) leading a different lifestyle: elderly non-working people who receive home-based social services and elderly non-working people which lead an active lifestyle. It is shown that the categories «time perspective» and «subjective age» express a person’s attitude to time, but relate to different aspects of individuality. Subjective age is more connected with the assessment of physical health status — the physical component of health-related life quality. Time perspective is more connected with personal characteristics — psychological component of health-related life quality; psychological well-being. Self-assessment of health and psychological well-being are closely correlated with the attitude to the present and the past. While the future is in a zone of high uncertainty. The younger the subjective age, the higher the indicators of psychological well-being and health-related life quality. An active lifestyle is a resource that allows pensioners to assess biological and social subjective age younger, be more future-oriented, and have higher indicators of health-related life quality. Health limitations and home lifestyle observed in a reduced health self-assessment and close correlations of all the variables studied. The 65–74 years period, compared to the 58–64 and 75–93 years periods, is characterized by higher indicators of life quality, psychological well-being and the predominance of a balanced time perspective. The main changes in the late-aged people life begin after the age of 75: a decrease in all indicators of health-related life quality and psychological well-being (except for «Autonomy»), as well as an increased focus on the «Fatalistic Present». Thus, the research shows the correlations between attitude to time and age and psychological well-being and health self-assessment. There is almost no study of subjective age in our country. Therefore our work allows us to expand knowledge about subjective age in the Russian sample.

"The last decades have witnessed a significant increase in several forms of human psychological malfunctioning, aspects that proved to significantly endanger healthy and efficient human adaptation. Mental health indicators (anxiety, depression, reduced levels of happiness), perfectionism, narcissism, and loneliness have significantly increased, despite the significant improvement of existent life-conditions. The market-based competition and reward system in the educational and professional spheres, as well as the perfectionistic expectations specific to the personal life impose high demands on the individual, which usually become sources of significant chronic stress, further impacting the individual’s quality of life (psychological and subjective well-being, loneliness). The comparative investigation of the above-mentioned variables in Transylvanian Hungarian and Transylvanian Romanian students would offer us the chance to compare these levels of functioning in two, culturally different samples. Our present study is a continuation and refinement of previous studies, and concentrates on the following major aims: (i) the investigation of the possible differences in narcissism, perfectionism, loneliness, depression, happiness, subjective and psychological well-being in Transylvanian Hungarian and Transylva¬nian Romanian first and second year students; (ii) the investigation of the association patterns between variables in both samples, and (iii) the examination of the role the studied variables play on the major indicators of mental and psychological health (depression and happiness) both in the united sample and on the two samples of students separately.
