The aim of present study is to examine difference in the level of self esteem among male and female adolescents. A total of 200 participants (100 male and 100 female) with age limit 11 years to 15years) (mean age = 14.16, SD = 0.740) were selected from different schools of Karachi, Pakistan, through convenient sampling technique. First the ensured about the confidentiality of their demographic information then Urdu version of Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965) was administered on them. Results depicted that there is difference in the level of self esteem among male and female adolescents (t (198) = 2.837, P< .05). It is concluded that there is gender difference in the level of self esteem among adolescents. The finding of present research can interpreted in terms of personality dynamic that has contribution in formation adolescents’ self-esteem. Some implications are required for enhancement of their self esteem.

The aim of the research is to investigate that emotional intelligence and self-esteem in male and female school students. The present research design is research cross sectional design.  Sample contained 200 students (100 =male, 100= female)   (mean age = 14.16, SD = 0.740) all belonging to the upper, middle and lower Scio economic status. Whole sample was collected from different schools of Karachi, Pakistan with the help of convenient sampling technique. First, the confidentiality about the participants demographic information was assured after that about the purpose and procedure of research explained to participants. The participants who given consent of participation in research, the demographic form, Urdu version of Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965), and Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue) (K.V. Petrides) were administered on them. Statistical Analysis (t-Test for independent) applied to assess the difference of emotional intelligence and self esteem among male and female.The results reveals there is significant difference among emotional intelligence of male and female school students (t (198) = 6.597, P< .05) and there is also significant difference in self esteem of male and female school students (t (198) = 2.837, P< .05).

This study is an attempt to investigate whether guidance needs to adolescents studying in the schools. For this purpose, sample of one hundred and seventy- nine students of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya were taken through simple random sampling technique. To collect the data, guidance need inventory developed by Dr. J.S. Grewal was used. t- test was applied to find the significance of difference among the various groups. Results indicated that male and female adolescents do not differ significantly in their guidance needs with respect to physical area, social area, psychological area, educational area, vocational area and total area. Abstract The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of father-daughter attachment towards adolescent depressive symptoms in Bandung. The sampling technique in this study was purposive sampling with a questionnaire data collection method. The instruments used in this study were the Inventory of Parent And Peer Attachment (IPPA) and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI). The sample in this study were 64 teenage girls in Bandung aged 15-24 years who have experienced three symptoms of depression for at least 2 weeks. The simple linear regression test results show that the higher the father attachment, the lower the depressive symptoms of female adolescents in Bandung. However, the magnitude of this influence is only 13.9%. For future researchers who are interested in investigating further about this variable, it is suggested to include control variables that can contribute to depressive symptoms, such as self-esteem, self-concept, self-efficacy, attributional style, and social support.

While poor parental bonding has been linked with psychological distress, few studies have assessed bonding with mothers and fathers separately among adolescents and whether there are gender differences in the relationships between bonding and psychological distress. Additionally, low self-esteem has been shown to predict psychological distress, but low self-esteem may develop as a result of poor bonding with parental figures. We explored the relationships between (a) perceived maternal and paternal bonding factors and (b) psychological distress, and examined whether self-esteem mediated these relationships in a non-clinical sample of 337 adolescents (aged 13–17 years, M = 14.17, 50.6% female) in Canberra, Australia. Relative to males, females reported lower levels of self-esteem and higher levels of psychological distress. For females, low self-esteem and perceived maternal or paternal rejection predicted higher levels of psychological distress, whereas low self-esteem predicted psychological distress for males. Implications for future research and further considerations are discussed.

The current research aims to find the relationship between secure attachment style and self-esteem among latency adolescence. The assumptions developed for the study stated that a) secure attachment style would be positively correlated with self-esteem among Adolescents.  b) Insecure attachment style (anxious and avoidant) would be negatively correlated with self-esteem among adolescents. The sample of the study comprised of 180 adolescents including 90 male and 90 female adolescents with age ranges between 12 to 16 years (M=13.27, SD=1.13) were selected through purposive sampling technique from private schools based in Karachi, Pakistan. After taking approval from the authorities, the participant's assent to participate in the research was taken and a demographic form was administered. To measure the effect of attachment on self-esteem, the Attachment Style Classification Questionnaire (Finzi et al., 1996) and the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965) were used. Descriptive statistics and Pearson product-moment coefficient of correlation were applied to study the correlation among the study variables. The finding shows a noteworthy relationship between secure attachment styles and self-esteem was found with an r-value of .118 and a P value of .116.
