Приведена оценка эффективности приемов выращивания арбуза столового на семенные цели в условиях Волгоградского Заволжья в 2015 2016 годах. Показано значение использования регуляторов роста и способов обработки почвы на урожайность, рост и развитие растений арбуза столового и выход семян с единицы площади. Определены оптимальные приемы предпосевной обработки почвы и семян при выращивании арбуза столового на семенные цели.Effectiveness of methods of growing watermelon table for seed purposes in the conditions of the Volgograd TransVolga region in 2015 2016 is evaluated. The importance of the use of growth regulators and methods of tillage on the yield, growth and development of watermelon plants and seed yield per unit area is shown. The optimal methods of seedbed and seed preparation for growing watermelon for seed purposes.

Heavy metals are among the most widespread pollutants in soil. Phytoextraction technology is used to solve the problem of multi-metal-contaminated soil. The efficiency of this process can be increased by introducing various amendments. A soil amendment is any material added to a soil to improve its physical properties, such as water retention, permeability, water infiltration, drainage, aeration, and structure. Some chemical amendments for enhanced phytoextraction, such as amino polycarboxylates chelators, can be hazardous to the environment and perform poorly at pH > 8. The effect of the potassium salt of hydroxyethylidene diphosphonic acid (K2HEDP), plant growth regulators (PGRs), and iron chelate alone and in combination on the phytoextraction by Trifolium repens L. seedlings of Cd, Ni, and Cu was studied in this work. K2HEDP works in a wider pH range. The results of this study confirmed that amino polycarboxylate chelators, with the sodium salt of ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (Na2EDTA) as an example, have a pronounced negative effect on the growth and development (organ mass) of Trifolium repens L. seedlings. K2HEDP, proposed by the authors instead of Na2EDTA, produced a pronounced positive effect on plant growth and development, which was further enhanced by the use of PGRs and with iron chelates. However, it should be noted that K2HEDP showed significantly lower efficiency in trials on the Trifolium repens L. seedlings. The highest was the efficiency of K2HEDP with PGRs and iron chelates for the phytoextraction of Cd.

SummaryPaspalum plicatulum was grown at Brisbane in boxes of sand receiving basal nutrients and frequent irrigation; weekly levels of ammonium nitrate application were varied according to growth and development stage.The rate of tiller appearance increased to a maximum 40–50 days after sowing and almost ceased thereafter. Tiller leaf number, survival, fertility, inflorescence branching, seeds per raceme and seed size were positively related to tiller age. Young tillers were more sensitive to variations in nitrogen supply than old tillers.Adequate nitrogen nutrition during the vegetative phase from sowing to floral initiation (93 days) increased tiller and hence inflorescence density; increased inflorescence branching was compensated by fewer seeds per raceme. Good nitrogen nutrition during the phase from floral initiation to inflorescence exsertion (142 days) increased survival of late-formed tillers and hence inflorescence density; inflorescence branching, seeds per raceme and seed size were also increased. Nitrogen stress during the final maturation phase did not affect seed yield.

Plant growth regulators are significant chemical compounds which are synthesized inside the plant cells and play vital role in plant growth and development. Such compounds are usually active at very low concentrations. These plant growth regulators act as a signalling molecule, which influences the growth of plants. Throughout the previous year’s remarkable investigation have been done for understanding the synthesis of auxin and its effect on various physiological progressions. Auxin is a plant hormone that is involved in various physiological activities, including basic cellular processes such as cell enlargement, regulation of the cell cycle and distinction progress. Plants and several other microorganisms together produce auxin in order to carry out their cell cycle. The chemically synthesized auxins like NAA (naphthalene acetic acid) and IBA (Indole- butyric acid), also take part in various cellular processes. Against various types of biotic and abiotic stress conditions, these plant hormones significantly contribute in promoting acclimatization and adaptation in combination with other phytohormones. The present review highlights some of the important features of auxin role in regulation of plant growth either alone or in crosstalk with other plant hormones.

Field experiments were conducted under sub-tropical condition during March-May of two consecutive years of 2013 and 2014 to assess the effect of different levels of debranching and spacing on synchronous pod ripening and yield of mungbean. The debranching levels were: (i) Category 1 [main stem (MS) with 4 branches per plant, control], (ii) category 2 (MS with three branches per plant), (iii) category 3 (MS with two branches per plant), (iv) category 4 (MS with one branch per plant) and (v) category 5 (only MS). Under recommended plant spacing (30 cm × 10 cm), plants having MS with 3 branches produced the highest seed yield due to increased number of seeds per pod over category 1. The lowest seed yield was recorded in category 5 (only MS plant) due to fewer number of pods per plant. When the optimum plant population per unit area according to canopy area was considered, it was estimated that the highest plants/m2 was accommodated in MS only of 50 plants/m2 showing the highest seed yield (2570 kg/ha) followed by MS with one branch (40 plants/m2, 2460 kg/ha) and these two treatments also showed synchronous pod maturity. The lowest plant population per unit area was accommodated in MS with 3 and 4 branches (25 plants/m2) and also showed lower seed yield (1910 and 1940 kg/ha, respectively) behaving asynchronous pod maturity.

Morphogenesis of Dollard red clover clones has provided indirect evidence that endogenous auxin level and, or, sensitivity of response of tissues to auxin vary according to light and temperature and as a function of genotype.The amount of growth and development was less in autotetraploid than in diploid plants.Root formation on propagules was influenced by relatively short-term different daylength pretreatments of intact plants; also, by the daylength and light intensity imposed during rooting.Under reduced light intensity extension growth already initiated was increased and this was related to increased "sensitivity" of growth response of stems and petioles to applied auxin.Morphogenetic effects relatively similar to those caused, respectively, by shortening the daylength and by lengthening the daylength resulted from antiauxin (TIBA) as compared with auxin (IAA) treatments.Concentrations of IAA that were primarily stimulatory to growth under shorter daylengths were inhibitory under continuous light. The primary stimulatory effect of IAA was on bud formation under SD but on stem elongation under LD.The relatively similar and additive effects of photoperiod, applied auxin, and cold pretreatment are discussed. It is postulated that in red clover a greater endogenous diffusible auxin level is required for optimum formation of stems and inflorescences than for buds and roots.Manipulation of light and temperature and the use of growth regulators provide added precision in the control of growth and development in red clover.

The experiment was conducted to investigate the combined effect of different plant growth regulators and charcoal supplementation in MS medium on growth and development of plantlets regenerated from protocorm like bodies (PLBs) of hybrid orchid. The combination of BAP + NAA, BAP + IAA, BAP + IBA, and IAA + IBA at different concentrations with charcoal supplementation was studied. The result revealed that the use of different growth regulators had significant effect on different parameters studied. The maximum weight of PLBs (5.123 g) was obtained from the combination of BAP + IBA at 1.0 mg/l each. The highest shoot height (3.239 cm) and maximum number of rooted plantlets (4.473) was obtained from 1.0 mg/l each of BAP + NAA combination. The maximum number of leaves (3.490) and the maximum length of leaves (1.946 cm) were obtained from 1.0 mg/l each of BAP + IBA and the highest leaf width (1.166 cm) was obtained from 0.5 mg/l BAP +1.0 mg/l IBA combination. The highest root length was obtained from 0.5 mg/l each of BAP + IAA and the maximum number of regenerated plantlets (20) was obtained from 0.5 mg/l IAA + 1.0 mg/l IBA combination. However, the maximum fresh weight of single shoot (0.219 g) and the maximum number of roots per plantlet (6.300) was obtained from 1.0 mg/I each of IAA + IBA combination. Swards of three strains of subterranean clover (Woogenellup, Clare and Seaton Park) were subjected to three shading treatments (30%, 55% and 100% of daylight) from the beginning of flowering onwards. For the 100% daylight (unshaded) treatment the incoming daily solar radiation averaged between 20 and 30 MJ/m2. In the unshaded treatment, seed yields for the three strains ranged from about 120 to almost 200 g/m2. These yields were invariably decreased by shading. Moreover the evidence indicated a curvilinear relationship between seed yield and light supply such that at 50% of daylight there was a reduction of rather more than 50% in seed yield. Shading mainly affected the number of inflorescences produced per unit area, although other components of seed yield were also affected adversely. Even late shading (towards the end of flowering) led to lower seed yield, partly associated with lower inflorescence numbers and partly with lower seed numbers per burr. The results are considered to have significance for clover regeneration in mixed clover/grass pastures and also in the cloveritree associations of agro-forestry.

The influence of sublethal levels of a number of herbicides and plant growth regulators on the germinability of the seeds and the growth and development of seedlings of mouseearcress [Arabidopsis thaliana(L.) Heynh. ♯ ARBTH] was determined. Only 7 of the 22 chemicals tested had a persistent effect on progeny. Amitrole (3-amino-s-triazole) was one of the most effective compounds. It caused a characteristic bleaching only in shoot tips and pods in parent plants and appeared to act directly on the progeny by accumulation in the seed. Two auxin transport inhibitors, TIBA (2,3,5-triiodobenzoic acid) and CPII (5-O-carboxyphenyl-3-phenylisoxazole), and four of the six photosynthetic electron transport inhibitors included in the study also affected progeny. They appeared to act indirectly by interfering with seed development.

SummaryThe effects of lodging on the seed yield of S. 23 and S. 24 perennial ryegrass were investigated in a series of field experiments from 1973 to 1976. Natural lodging severely reduced seed yield in all years as a result of a decrease in the number of seeds per unit area. Controlled lodging at different stages of crop growth produced more variable results, indicating that lodging may affect both pollination and seed development. Disturbance of the crop during anthesis in order to aid pollination did not improve seed yields, possibly as a result of damage incurred.
