Many studies have described the use of mobile assisted language learning in language teaching and learning; yet, the number of studies in listening skill remains unsatisfactory. Few researchers appear to have considered how to use mobile learning devices to support pedagogical approach to develop academic listening skills. Several studies in the past, required learners to read from mobile phones rather than listening to audios. There were attempts to use computer technology integration into instruction; however, few were in mobile technology. The interest in research related to the impact of mobile assisted language learning on developing students’ listening skills remains relatively low and consequently listening has been neglected. Thus, the current paper aims at exploring the effectiveness of mobile assisted language learning devices both as instructional tools and learning resources within and beyond classroom learning environments to develop language skills in particular listening sub-skills. The experimental design is pretest-experiment-post-test. To conduct the study two groups of experimental (30) and control (30) out of 60 second year students at Al Iraqia University/ college of education for women/ department of English were made. Both groups were taught the same material, but using different methods. The results of the post-test indicated that the use of mobile assisted language learning devices had impacts on developing experimental group’s listening skills and outperformed the control group.

This study aimed to reveal the most important problems facing students of the College of Education from their point of view and its relationship to some variables. The study used two tools: the first is the open interview (focus group), and the second is a questionnaire designed by the researcher. It contained 65 items distributed on six axes: costs and assignments, tests, academic professor, academic registration and guidance, the content of study materials, and finally the classrooms have been verified as being truthful and consistent. The results showed that the problems related to the classroom were the most prominent facing students, while the problems related to the academic professor were the least important from their point of view. The order of importance of the problems varied according to the specialization taught by female students, and by the different program registered with it, as well as by the different status of the female student, whether she was a full-time student or on the job. Faculty of Education has to ensure that the students are progressing and achieving high performance during the program with the less problems they face. If students do not meet these criteria/expectations, measures need to be taken to support them and help them improve their skills, knowledge, dispositions and achievement. If students do not meet standards, the College might not get full accreditation, and will have an Area For Improvement. This means that the College has to take other measures to improve students’ achievement to receive full accreditation.

Nowadays, university education stands in front of both students who feel they are weak and teachers who are addicted to using traditional and dependent teaching. This has led to have negative repercussions on the learner from different aspects, including the mental aspect and the academic achievement process. Therefore, the present research is concerned with finding a new teaching method that adopts the motivation by the fear of failure technique. Thus, the study aims to examine the effect of adopting this method on students’ academic achievement. To achieve this aim, an experimental method was used, and an achievement test was built for the curriculum material of level two students. The pretest test was applied on 17 male and female students, then, the teaching was carried out using the motivation method of fear of failure. Later, the post-test was applied on the same sample.

Conflict as a phenomenon is one of the basic dynamics of life.  It forms the basis of human relations and communication as an inescapable fact that people frequently face during any period of their life. In inter-personal relations, listening and conflict management tendencies may be described as major variables affecting the quality and type of the relationship. This study is to examine the relationship between teacher candidates’ listening skills and their conflict management styles. In this study, the data concerning teachers’ listening skills were obtained through “Listening Skill Scale” of Cihangir-Çankaya (2012) whereas data regarding their conflict management styles were obtained through “Interpersonal Conflict Management Styles Scale” that had been developed by the researchers. Both scales were used for 491 teacher candidates who were taking courses for pedagogical formation in Faculty of Education of Ondokuz Mayıs University during 2015-2016 academic year. In the consequence of the analyses made, a statistically significant relationship was found between teacher candidates’ listening skills and their choices about conflict management styles. A low-level negative relationship was determined between teacher candidates’ listening skills and their accommodating and forcing (competing) styles, while a mid-level positive relationship was found out between listening skills and their compromising and problem-solving (integration) styles.
