Due to the development of cities as well as rapid population growth, urban traffic is increasing nowadays. Hence, to improve traffic flow, underground structures such as metro, especially in metropolises, are inevitable. This paper is a research on the twin tunnels Of Isfahan's metro between Shariaty station and Azadi station from the North towards the South. In this study, simultaneous drilling of subway's twin tunnels is simulated by means of Finite Difference Method (FDM) and FLAC 3D software. Moreover, the lowest distance between two tunnels is determined in a way that the Law of Super Position could be utilized to manually calculate the amount of surface subsidence, resulted by drilling two tunnels, by employing the results of the analysis of single tunnels without using simultaneous examination and simulation. In this paper, this distance is called "effective distance". For this purpose, first, the optimum dimensions of the model is chosen and then, five models with optimum dimensions will be analyzed separately, each of which in three steps. The results of analyses shows that the proportions (L/D) greater than or equal 2.80, the Law of Super Position can be applied for prediction of surface subsidence, caused by twin tunnels' construction

With the continuous development of urban underground space, the environmental effects of foundation pit excavation have been paid extensive close attention. Unfortunately, there are few researches in mucky soil and peaty soil. Adopted the software of FLAC-3D, the ground deformation due to the foundation pit excavation is simulated. Considering the characteristic of the soil, the Modified Cam-clay model and Mohr-coulomb model are used during the simulation. Meanwhile, the structure units are used to simulate foundation pit structure. The results of the field measurement and numerical simulation suggest that the influenced range soil is about 2.7 times of the excavation depth. Furthermore, the Modified Cam-clay model can obtain a better result to simulate the mucky soil and peaty soil in Kunming. The results can be referred to design and construct of foundation pits.

Use FLAC 3D finite difference software for numerical simulation and static calculation of the different models. Study the deformation and forces condition of different model during the process of excavation. The results show that setting invert of highway tunnel in Ⅳ1-grade rock section can improve the stress state of the supporting structure and reduce the surrounding rock deformation effectively. At the same time, the flat bottom tunnel applying C25 concrete and grouting bolts could improve the integrity of surrounding rock below the tunnel sidewall. It is can be considered to cancel the setting of invert to achieve the purpose of simplifying the construction and design.

The thesis takes a three-lane tunnel construction in Zhejiang as an example. Simulating the course of dynamic construction of large-span tunnel on geology condition of four-grade rock mass and shallow buried by FLAC 3D software ,it carries out comparative and stress situation in the runnel surrounding rocks .Getting the displacement and stress changes rule of the construction by using benching with a small pilot tunnel tunneling method can guide the construction scientifically.

To determine the impact of influencing factors on unsupported roof stability in coal mine roadway, a mechanical model of the unsupported roof was built. FLAC 3D numerical simulation was utilized to study the stability of the unsupported roof under the influence of the depth of the roadway, the thickness of the roof, and the unsupported-support distance. In view of the key influencing factors, the geological conditions of the site, and the relationship between the tensile stress and tensile strength of the unsupported roof, the maximum unsupported roof distance during roadway excavation was determined. Considering the surplus safety factor of the unsupported roof, the reasonable unsupported roof distance during the excavation of roadway 150802 was finally determined to be 2.08 m. The comprehensive roadway excavation speed increased by 62.7%, achieving a monthly progress over 500 m.
