ABSTRACT Background: In Indonesia, nutrition is still the 5 biggest problem for mothers and children. Nutrition in the mother during pregnancy will affect the nutrition the infant gets while in the womb. Nutrition in children is very important in the first 1000 days of life because it will affect the growth and development of the infant. One way to assess the nutritional adequacy of new born is by measuring the infant’s weight at birth. This study aimed to determine the relationship between maternal weight and birth weight. Subjects and Method: This was a cross sectional study conducted at Pajang Community Health Center, Surakarta, Central Java. The study subjects were all mothers and infants whose birth weight were measured during February to March 2020. The dependent variable in this study was maternal weight. The independent variable was birth weight. The data were taken from the medical records of the Pajang Community Health Center. The data were analyzed using logistic regression test Results: Maternal weight below the normal weight had tendency to produce babies with less weight than pregnant women with normal maternal weight (OR= 55.00; p<0.001), and it was statistically significant. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between maternal weight of pregnant women and birth weight Keywords: maternal weight, birth weight Correspondence: Rahmi Syuadzah. ABSTRACT Background: Stunting is one of the global nutrition problems, which is recorded in the six global nutrition targets in 2025. Stunting is defined as a condition when a child’s body length or height based on age and sex is below -2 SD of the median standard of child growth by World Health Organization. The prevalence of stunting in newborns in the world is 3.8%. The causes of stunting are multifactorally occurring from the age of conception to the age of two. Factors that influence stunting of newborns during the prenatal period are maternal height, maternal weight gain, anemia, and infection during pregnancy. Anemia occurs in 37% of pregnant women. Maternal anemia causes disruption in fetal growth which increases the risk of stunting at birth. This study aimed to examine the Association between maternal anemia with stunting incidence among newborns in Surakarta, Central Java. Subjects and Method: This was a cross-sectional study conducted at Sibela Community Health Center, Surakarta, Central Java. Total of 184 third trimester pregnant women and 184 newborns were enrolled in this study. The dependent variable was stunting among newborns. The independent variable was anemia in pregnant women. The data were taken from medical records in the period February-March 2020. The data were analyzed using Chi-square. Results: The prevalence of stunting among newborns was 8.2%. Anemia among pregnant women were 31.0%. Pregnant women who had anemia increase the incidence of stunting among newborns (OR = 5,19; 95% CI = 1.69 to 15.99; p = 0.002). Conclusion: There is a relationship between anemia among pregnant women and the incidence of stunting among newborns. Keywords: anemia, pregnancy, stunting, newborn Correspondence: Safitri Tia Tampy. <p><em>Iron deficiency anemia is anemia caused by iron deficiency in the blood. Maternal iron deficiency affects the low iron reserves in neonates </em><em>and it also influences on </em><em>Brain Derived Neurotropic Factor (BDNF) </em><em> which affects cognitive function.</em><em> </em><em>The purpose of this study was to determine the difference mean of BDNF in neonates from normal pregnant women and pregnant women with iron deficiency. </em><em>The design of this research was Cross Sectional</em><em> </em><em>design. This research was conducted in Community Health Center of Lubuk  Buaya, Ambacang Community Health Center, Community Health Center of Ikur Koto Health Center and Biomedical Laboratory of Andalas University on February 2017 to April 2018. There were 42 pregnant women was selected as sample e of this research. The samples were chosen by Consecutive Sampling. Then, the sample is divided into two groups: normal pregnant women and pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia. BDNF are examined by the ELISA. Next, the data were analyzed by using T test. The levels of BDNF neonates in normal pregnant group was 3.65(ng/ml) and the anemia pregnant group was 1.74(ng/ml) (p &lt;0.05). There was significant difference of BDNF levels in neonates from normal pregnant women and pregnant women with iron deficiency anemia. </em><em>The conclusion of this study is there is a difference of average BDNF in neonates from normal pregnant women and pregnant women with iron deficiency.</em></p><p> </p><p>Anemia defisiensi besi adalah anemia yang disebabkan karena kekurangan zat besi dalam darah. DHF is one of the widespread  infectious diseases in Indonesia, with an increased infected number of sufferers. DHF case is closely related to environmental sanitation, wich causes the availability of breeding places for the Aedes aegypti mosquito vectors. The study was to determine the relationship between environmental sanitation behavior and the case of DHF in the working area of the Tarus Community Health Center in 2020. The study design was descriptive-analytical with a cross-sectional study approach. The sample was_99 respondents taken by simple random sampling technique. Data was collected from interviews and analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed that the varuabels of  knowledge (p = 0.000), attitudes (p = 0.021), and actions to environmental sanitation (p = 0.000) were related to the DHF case. The Tarus Community Health Center should increase outreach activities and family empowerment efforts related to the prevention and control of DHF.

Background: Perinatal health is influenced by maternal weight gain. Increase in obesity in population and excess weight during pregnancy may be different complications including large for gestational age fetus. As a result cesarean delivery has increased in prevalence. Maternal weight gain during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters is an important determinant of fetal growth Objective: To determine the relationship between maternal weight gain and birth weight of baby at term. Methodology : A cross sectional study was carried among 50 pregnant women at term in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital and Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital during the period of January 2013 to July 2013. Data were collected in pre-designed data collection sheet. Results: This study found maximum (36%) were age group 21-25 years followed by 28% were ≤20 years, 24% were between 26-30 years, 8% were between 31-35 years and only 4% were of 36-40 years. The average age was 25 years. Among these 50 pregnant women, 2 cases (4%) had BMI < 18.5, 15 cases (30%) had a BMI 18.5-24.9, 19 cases (38%) had a BMI 25-29.9 and 14 cases (28%) had a BMI ≥30. The mean birth weight was 2.77±0.33. kg. Mean weight gain was 10.72±3.72 Kg. Conclusion: This study showed that reasonable maternal weight gain significantly increased birth weight of the baby at term. Bangladesh J Obstet Gynaecol, 2017; Vol. 32(2) : 79-83

The impact of the incidence of anemia in pregnant women who have less knowledge during pregnancy are abortion, preterm labor, fetal and uterine disorders, low birth weight (LBW), and high maternal mortality. This study aimed to study the relationship between the level of knowledge with the incidence of anemia in pregnant women at Tanjung Kemuning Community Health Center Kaur District. This type of research was Descriptive Correlation and the design used was Cross Sectional. The data in this study used the primary data obtained by distributing questionnaires. Pneumonia is the most common cause of morbidity and mortality among young children worldwide. Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) is a procedural form in the care of childhood illness which aims to minimize morbidity and mortality rate in children, including pneumonia. This was a cross-sectional study at Samarinda and Kutai Kartanegara community health center from July to October 2015. The health workers’ knowledge was assessed through questionnaire. The quality of IMCI implementation was evaluated through direct observation in primary health care. A total of 46 health workers were involved in this study. Observation of IMCI implementation quality was conducted in 104 children. The majority of respondents (73.9) had sufficient knowledge; however, in terms of direct implementation on the field, most of the respondents (87%) were included in incompetent category. It can be concluded that level of knowledge was related to implementation of cough IMCI in community health center, but the correlation was weak.
