The study is an attempt at characterizing the theoretical assumptions concerning the collaboration of teachers and parents which are implemented in the space of school. What is outlined in the article is the cooperation in the space of the Polish community living abroad in the culturally diversified environment. The proper functioning of school depends on cooperation between teachers, students and parents. The effectiveness of the cooperation of parents and teachers is determined by many complex factors. In this study, the principles and problems are brought closer that arise from asymmetric positioning of educational subjects (students, teachers and parents), which generates different needs and ideas in mutual cooperation. This is exemplified here by the Polish-language school education system, whose activity reflects the needs and possibilities of the Polish communities in culturally heterogeneous European environments in the creation and functioning of Polish-speaking educational institutions and the involvement of the community gathered around these schools.

From an examination of developments in post-school education in Western Australia during the Great Depression, explanations are sought for disillusionments at the time with the State's education system and also for subsequent policies to impose accountability and economy upon educational institutions and foster a utilitarian emphasis in the curriculum. Royal Commissions by Justice A. Wolff — on Youth Employment and the Apprenticeship System and on the Administration of the University of Western Australia — are vital to an understanding of community attitudes and later developments in post-school education policy. Community attitudes in the thirties bear a remarkable resemblance to attitudes during the recession of the seventies.

This article presents the paradigm shift, especially in school education, under the conditions of current mediatization, whereby we understand education initially as a communicative system that is dedicated to the acquisition of new and future relevant knowledge in lifelong processes of appropriation. To this end, educational institutions demand an educational language that screens out those who cannot serve that linguistic register. Arguing with regard to Rawls and Nussbaum, we present this selection mechanism under the conditions of current mediatization as both ideologically outdated and practically reducible and refer to current models of professionalization of teachers and international competency frameworks for digital media education.
