In the digital technology era, mobile devices have an important rule to deploy a copy of data and information through the network. An electronic reader (eReader) allows readers to read written materials in an electronic manner that is available in many models. The objective of this study is to evaluate the usage of eReader by higher education students. We firstly identified the most frequently used eReader by surveying higher education students. The survey results showed that Apple iPad, Amazon Kindle, and Samsung Tablet are the most popular eReader devices used by higher education students. We presented these results, and then we analyzed the surveyed results in detail in order to develop an evaluation metric of the eReader in a mobile platform that clearly allows the selection of the most suitable eReader for higher education students. The main contribution of this paper is the development of a set of criteria that can be used by students in the selection of an eReader that matches their specific needs and requirements.

Today, the lecture class as a format for higher education is under attack more than ever. This article addresses the research question of how lectures can be modernized and revitalized through new uses of digital technology—in particular, video. Critics of lecturing have for a long time observed that lecture classes can be weak on student engagement and motivation to attend class. This article introduces one way to help modernize and revitalize the live lecture class session, a new conceptualization of the instructor-created video. Instructor-created videos are defined and distinguished from current hybrid and alternative forms of technology integration that are proliferating in higher education such as flipped and blended classrooms. Many, if not most, videos used in lectures are “third party videos” (made by others), whereas instructor-created videos are “first party videos.” The author develops and defines the concept of VIDS (Videos Instructor Designed and Starring). VIDS examples illustrate the concept from the author’s experience in a course with 158 students. Student feedback based on survey results is positive. Suggestions for making better videos are offered based on the implementation experience. The VIDS innovation is discussed within the context of the “crisis of the lecture” and offered as one tool to help modernize and revitalize the live lecture class.

The image and audiovisual have been applied to create an innovative strategy in the English language instructional, whereas the combination of this instrument and digital technology which is known as “multimodality” has not been explored widely. This study gauges higher education students’ perception of multimodality. There were 87 Polytechnic and 41 University students involved in this research. Digital questionnaires were employed and the data collection was elaborated descriptively. The UTAUT model (unified theory of acceptance and use of technology) was applied to measure students’ argument on the multimodality use. The result indicated that there is a positive trend in the use of multimodality in the classroom. Learners have a desire to use the combination of image, audiovisual and digital technology. This study extends our understanding of what the learners need from digital technology development and a significant chance to develop on the multimodality which fit for the higher education level.

In higher education institutions, web surveys are frequently used for educational, research, and administrative purposes. One of the consequences of this is increasing oversurveying of higher education students, leading to low response rates. This naturally has important implications for the validity of web survey results. Consequently, we set up a methodological experiment at Tilburg University, the Netherlands, whereby the total student population was invited to participate in a web survey in order to investigate which features of contact design can positively influence web survey participation. We particularly focus on subject line content, the communication of deadlines and their timing, as well as the delays between contact moments. The results reveal that students were more likely to respond to a web survey invitation when the subject line is written in the national language in multilingual contexts. Furthermore, although the findings did not indicate an advantage of using a deadline, they also suggested that if a deadline is to be used, a longer deadline might be more beneficial.

Statement of the problem. Recent reports from the OSCE, UNESCO, and the International Association of Universities have attempted to comprehend the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on higher education. A broader use of blended learning is seen in these documents as one of the potential ways for developing university teaching. Based on official recommendations, the authors of the article substantiate the need to create a course of the French language for occupational purposes for students of the MA program "Language support for project development in the field of international cooperation" in a blended learning format with extensive online component. Results. A survey was conducted among the MA students and teachers in order to carry out needs analyses and analyse the feedback about the experience of learning a foreign language online during the lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic in Russia. The results allowed to identify technical, methodological and personal risk factors that should be taken into account in the course design process. In addition, the review of scientific articles and recommendations of universities supported the process of selection of the principles underlying the course, as well as the approaches and technologies that determine the logic of its implementation. Conclusions. Blended learning as a transition between traditional face-to-face and distance online learning has great potential in the post-covid higher education. As the survey results has shown, students who have experience in learning a foreign language for occupational purposes in a blended learning format were more satisfied with the quality of online learning during the lockdown related to the spread of Covid-19. At the same time, technical and methodological factors have a decisive influence on the effectiveness of blended learning. They should be imperatively taken into account at the planning stage of the course design. This can be achieved by describing stages of delivery, clear instruction and a careful selection of online tools. The survey results and litterature review allowed to determine the approach, principles and technologies that underlie the course of French for occupational purposes for MA students of the program "Linguistic support for project development in the field of international cooperation."

Introduction: A very important role in the protection of human health is their life style, their habits and patterns of conduct. Early adulthood is the best period to achieve long-term benefits from a selection of healthy living. However, the results of studies on health-related behavior of youth in Poland and in the world are not satisfactory. The purpose of the study: The purpose of the research was to assess the health behaviors of students of higher education in Bydgoszcz. Material: The study involved 272 students (124 women and 148 men) Bydgoszcz higher education students in the following fields of study: physiotherapy, nutrition, logistics and national security. The Inventory of Health-Related Behavior by Zygfryd Juczyński has been used in the research. The statistical analysis was performed using the package PQ Stat 1.6.2. Results: Throughout the treatment group an average level of health-related behavior has been shown. The results of the different categories of health-related behavior were lower than the results of the standardization groups. A higher level of health behavior has been shown in a group of medical students compared to non-medical students. The results for women were higher than men's results. Conclusions: The results of personal research and the research findings of other authors demonstrate that there is a need for implementation of programs of health promotion and health education in all fields of study.

Technology is becoming increasingly embedded into our lives. We are seeing a push towards digitization and online access. This can be a challenge for some because users’ level of technical ability varies among the generations and other factors. Predicting technological innovations and how they might supplement, integrate with, or entirely replace existing technology is nearly impossible. These changes and innovations include many within the realm of education, including the relatively recent advent and increasing presence of e-Book sources and platforms.  This study examines how higher education students across different generations are embracing electronic books in their studies. Students have more distractions than ever before. Using mobile devices smartly but having the ability to concentrate when you need to can be a challenge. Just because e-Books options are available and being increasingly adopted does not necessarily mean they are preferred by students.  This study contributes to our understanding of their acceptance across different generations of students.
