This article focuses on the trends implying the creation and presentation of the image of a politician and his family in the media political discourse, as well as on their impact on shaping and maintaining an image status within predictive strategies of real action. The author defines the concept of the “personal brand” and offers an analysis of the degree of its dependence on the means of media presentation and self-presentation, as well as forecasting public authority. The goals of creating and promoting the politician’s image components, and its criteria in view of self-presentation are also identified here. Special attention is paid to the latest trends in the image representation related to Donald Trump and his family in public speeches in the media space. To this end, there has been an analysis carried out aimed at studying American Internet items about each of the family members of the US 45th President, which allows giving a clear idea of the development of a specific family image in the image of a political figure in the media, analyzing them, in order to intensify or compromise each of them, and describing the means by which the paradoxical effect of weakening the public authority in media discourse is achieved. The main method to discover the features of the family image influence degree on politician’s personal brand is discourse-analysis supplied with some techniques of linguocultural and social pragmatic linguistic modelling of communicative interaction. There is an identification of the degree to which the mass media influence the political image, and through it – the promotion of the politician’s personal brand and public authority. Based on the study outcomes, the author concludes that a politician’s image components depend on the degree of family relations accentuation within the concept-value space of the politician viewed as an individual, which is determined by the frequency and adequacy of media discursive means of intensification, whereas the personal brand, in turn, has a dominant impact on the politician’s public policies and credibility, as well as on his family image in the media. Given this dichotomous mutual effect, a positive or negative self-presentation of a political figure is performed.

HOW TO TELL THAT YOU ARE PREGNANT | The focus of this article is mediated exposure of life before life based on fetal images, including textual updates uploaded to individual Facebook profiles. The article analyses how pictures of embryos have become part of daily digital self presentation and the narrative about expecting a child. We follow a pregnant’s Facebook profile from the moment she uploads the first fetal image around the twelfth week, till the moment she updates with the news about the delivery documented by a picture of her newborn baby. The mediated exposure also involves the coming father, as the pregnant woman tags the pictures with his name to underline the family ties. Many relations (mostly women) contribute with comments that can be categorised into three groups: serious, humoristic-ironic and analysing questioning. The Facebook update can be seen as a side stage or middle region (Meyrowitz) position, a constantly more muddy space between public and private self presentation. This new praxis confirms Jean Baudrillard’s thoughts about the subject’s exaggerated presentation of self. The online audience is more comprehensive and less controllable than offline. The pregnant exposes her pregnancy, motherhood and her product (the foetus)through updates, pictures and tagging. The Facebook update is a new way to interpellate family relations and to celebrate the coming new member with the comprehensive network in three levels.

The article presents the results of the study of the conceptual sphere of the media space on the example of the concept “family”. This concept has a high communicative status, which is determined by the special influence of the family as a social institution on the mental space of Russia. The concept has a special meaning for the actualization of key cognitive national stereotypes, and it has axiological content. The analytical algorithm is based on the logic of analyzing the semantic structure of concepts and following the chronological principle of presenting empirical material, which is necessary in this case. It was supposed to rely on the interpretative method of research. The main conclusion: in modern mass media, the traditional semantic structure of the concept “family” meets serious opposition and is subject to rethinking when reformatting the evaluative periphery of the associative field of the concept, the figurative component of its semantic structure. The presented crisis changes are associated with the deactualization of the key axiological meanings of traditional culture, which for many centuries preserved the idea of ideal family relations as strictly repertory. The obvious conflict of the associative zone of the conceptual periphery testifies not so much to the intensity of modernization trends as to the sophistication of their manifestation, which needs to be investigated, since it can provoke a serious crisis of collective identity.

According to the intergenerational solidarity model, family members who share similar values about family obligations should have a closer relationship and support each other more than families with a lower value consensus. The present study first describes similarities and differences between two family generations (mothers and daughters) with respect to their adherence to family values and, second, examines patterns of relations between intergenerational consensus on family values, affectual solidarity, and functional solidarity in a sample of 51 mother-daughter dyads comprising N = 102 participants from Luxembourgish and Portuguese immigrant families living in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Results showed a small generation gap in values of hierarchical gender roles, but an acculturation gap was found in Portuguese mother-daughter dyads regarding obligations toward the family. A higher mother-daughter value consensus was related to higher affectual solidarity of daughters toward their mothers but not vice versa. Whereas affection and value consensus both predicted support provided by daughters to their mothers, affection mediated the relationship between consensual solidarity and received maternal support. With regard to mothers, only affection predicted provided support for daughters, whereas mothers’ perception of received support from their daughters was predicted by value consensus and, in the case of Luxembourgish mothers, by affection toward daughters.

Violence against women (VAW) continues to exist as a pervasive, structural,systematic, and institutionalized violation of women’s basic human rights (UNDivision of Advancement for Women, 2006). It cuts across the boundaries of age, race, class, education, and religion which affect women of all ages and all backgrounds in every corner of the world. Such violence is used to control and subjugate women by instilling a sense of insecurity that keeps them “bound to the home, economically exploited and socially suppressed” (Mathu, 2008, p. 65). It is estimated that one out of every five women worldwide will be abused during her lifetime with rates reaching up to 70 percent in some countries (WHO, 2005). Whether this abuse is perpetrated by the state and its agents, by family members, or even by strangers, VAW is closely related to the regulation of sexuality in a gender specific (patriarchal) manner. This regulation is, on the one hand, maintained through the implementation of strict cultural, communal, and religious norms, and on the other hand, through particular legal measures that sustain these norms. Therefore, religious institutions, the media, the family/tribe, cultural networks, and the legal system continually disciplinewomen’s sexuality and punish those women (and in some instances men) who have transgressed or allegedly contravened the social boundaries of ‘appropriateness’ as delineated by each society. Such women/men may include lesbians/gays, women who appear ‘too masculine’ or men who appear ‘too feminine,’ women who try to exercise their rights freely or men who do not assert their rights as ‘real men’ should, women/men who have been sexually assaulted or raped, and women/men who challenge male/older male authority.

Since the 2016 U.S. presidential election, attacks on the media have been relentless. “Fake news” has become a household term, and repeated attempts to break the trust between reporters and the American people have threatened the validity of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. In this article, the authors trace the development of fake news and its impact on contemporary political discourse. They also outline cutting-edge pedagogies designed to assist students in critically evaluating the veracity of various news sources and social media sites.

Abstract A gram-negative, orange-pigmented, non-flagellated, gliding, rod-shaped, and aerobic bacterium, designated strain F202Z8T, was isolated from a rusty iron plate found in the intertidal region of Taean, South Korea. Notably, this strain synthesized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), and 17 putative genes responsible for the synthesis of AgNPs were found in its genome. The complete genome sequence of strain F202Z8T is 4,723,614 bp, with 43.26% G + C content. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequence revealed that strain F202Z8T forms a distinct lineage with closely related genera Maribacter, Pelagihabitans, Pseudozobellia, Zobellia, Pricia, and Costertonia belonging to the family Flavobacteriaceae. The 16S rRNA sequence similarity was < 94.5%. The digital DNA–DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity values calculated from the whole genome-sequence comparison between strain F202Z8T and other members of the family Flavobacteriaceae were in the ranges of 12.7–16.9% and 70.3–74.4%, respectively. Growth was observed at 15–33°C (optimally at 30°C), at pH 6.5–7.5 (optimally at pH 7.0), and with the addition of 2.5–4.5% (w/v) NaCl to the media (optimally at 4.0%). The predominant cellular fatty acids were iso-C15: 0, iso-C15 :1 G, and iso-C17 :0 3-OH; the major respiratory quinone was MK-6. Polar lipids included phosphatidylethanolamine, five unidentified lipids, and two unidentified aminolipids. Our polyphasic taxonomic results suggested that this strain represents a novel species of a novel genus in the family Flavobacteriaceae, for which the name Aggregatimonas sangjinii gen. nov., sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain of Aggregatimonas sangjinii is F202Z8T (= KCCM 43411T = LMG 31494T).

Abstract This article examines the relationship between the Japanese American redress movement and the oral interviews of two Japanese immigrant women, known as Issei women. Focusing on the shared images of Issei women in the Japanese American community and the perspectives and self-representations of the interviewees in the oral interviews, it explores how cultural consensus produced stereotypical, collective images of Issei women as submissive, persevering, and quiet persons. As the redress movement progressed in the 1960s to the 1980s, the Japanese American community conducted oral history projects to preserve memories and legacies of their wartime experiences. There are dissimilarities between the original audio recordings and the published transcripts regarding the perspectives of Issei women. This article shows how the community’s desire to preserve idealized images of Issei men and women reduced the accuracy and nuances in the women’s self-representations and the complexities of family relations. Also, contrary to the collective images, Issei women demonstrated how they were independent, assertive, and open individuals expressing their perspectives, complicated emotions, and importance in the family.

يجيب البحث عن إشكالية تتعلق بالعلاقات الأسرية من جهة الاحتكام للأعراف في النفقة والمسكن والملبس وغيرها، مما يترتب على ذلك خلافات تفضي ببعضها إلى المحاكم، وقد تنتهي بالطلاق. وقد هدف البحث إلى : 1 ـ تقديم منظومة معرفية متعلقة بدلالات العشرة بالمعروف من أجل الإسهام في إعادة تشكيل عقلية ناضجة للزوجين تضبط العلاقة بينهما عند الخلاف. 2 ـ تسليط الضوء على أبعاد وحدود المعروف نصًا والمعروف عرفًا في الأسرة. 3 ـ التأكيد على أن العشرة بالمعروف متبادلة بين كل من الزوج والزوجة، لا يقتصر هذا التكليف على واحد دون الآخر. وقد اعتمدت المنهج الاستقرائي عبر جمع الايات القرآنية ذات الصلة وذكر أقوال المفسرين والفقهاء، والمنهج التحليلي في فهم دلالات الألفاظ وتوجيهات المفسرين، والمنهج الاستنباطي بغية الوصول إلى ضوابط جامعة تخدم الهدف العام للبحث، وانتهى البحث إلى مجموعة من النتائج والتوصيات ومنها: اعتبار العرف الذي لا يخالف نصًا شرعيًا قاعدة من القواعد المعتبرة في ضبط العلاقات بين الزوجين. بشرط أن يقع تحت قدرة الزوج وطاقته، وأن يكون مما انتشر بين الناس، وينطبق على الأسرة مثله. القرآن الكريم ـ العشرة بالمعروف – العلاقة الأسرية – الحقوق بين الزوجين – العرف وأثره بين الزوجين. Summary The research answers a problem related to family relations in terms of resorting to customs in alimony, housing, clothing, and others...which results in disputes that may lead to some of them in the courts and may end in divorce. The aim of the research was to 1 - presenting a knowledge system related to the semantics of the good-natured in order to contribute to reshaping a mature mentality of the spouses that controls the relationship between them in the event of disagreement. 2 - and to shed light on the dimensions and limits of what is textually known and what is known by convention in the family. 3 - Emphasis on that good practice is mutual. Between both husband and wife, this assignment is not limited to one without the other. The inductive approach was adopted by collecting the relevant Qur’anic verses and mentioning the sayings of the commentators and jurists, the analytical approach in understanding the semantics of the words and the directives of the interpreters, and the deductive approach in order to reach comprehensive controls that serve the general objective of the research, and the research ended with a set of results and recommendations, including: Considering the custom that does not contradict A legal text is one of the considered rules in controlling relations between spouses. Provided that it falls under the husband’s ability and energy, and that it is something that has spread among people, and applies to the family like him. Abstract Over the past two decades, Chinese rural architecture has experienced dramatic changes through the Building the Chinese Socialist New Village movement. Thousands of new houses, particularly in the model of the New Village, have risen abruptly out of the ground. These Western-style new houses with a garden (huayuan yangfang), which often appear in the media as typical family houses in Western society, largely represent the image of the good life of the state and the peasant in contemporary China. In this article, I focus on how the family house is produced and consumed in Baikou New Village in south China. By presenting the materiality of the dwelling space, this paper probes the intertwined processes of the materialisation of the blueprint of the good life and how the new houses influence family life (especially intergenerational relationships) in post-socialist Baikou New Village.

The main aim of the article is to consider impartially the formation of O. Bismarck’s worldview and the stages of his development as a political figure. A lot of biographers are often biased and sometimes reach panegyric or censure in their attitude to this person. The article examines objectively the factors that influenced the formation of O. Bismarck’s personality, limiting itself only to the main features of his personal character and family environment, without dwelling in detail on his political activities. Bismarck’s mother was excellently educated, combined the sentimental-religious mood of her century and the liberal beliefs inherited from her father, she aimed to awaken ambition and the desire to achieve her goals in her children from childhood. His father, unlike emotionless and refined mother, was a former military man who preferred rural life to urban life and he spoiled children in every possible way and was the soul of the family. She was shrewd and ambitious, personified intelligence and she loved to have conversations with intelligent people and to play chess, he was full of humor and fun and he preferred living on the estate and hunting. Perhaps due to this inconsistency, Bismarck was not brought up in class prejudices in his native home, but later his basic beliefs were formed under the influence of the environment.
