scholarly journals AN EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH REGARDING THE OPTIMUM COMPOSITION FOR WOOD SLAG BOARDS

Wood slag boards (WSB) belong to the group of composites formed on the basis of mineral binders (cement, gypsum, blast-slag, etc.). They are multi-componential systems consisting of wood particles, slag-alkaline and mineralizator. The physico-mechanical properties of WSB completely answer the standard requirements valid for high-density wood-cement boards and therefore can be used as a competitive building material. The economic relevancy of their production is grounded in providing building industry with high-quality and at the same time cheap materials, as well as in utilizing scrap materials which would otherwise pollute the environment (blast slag and scrap wood). The optimizing of the mass parts of the components of WSB is a very important problem both from technological and economical point of view. The success in solving the optimizing problem depends to a great degree on the choice of method. This is way a planned experiment is applied, based on the simplex method for multicomponent system with preliminarily determined limits of calculation of the factors. With the help of specialized computer software, the optimum quantity of the components is determined through graphically presented optimum areas

Abstract Background The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has severely impacted the Italian healthcare system, underscoring a dramatic shortage of specialized doctors in many disciplines. The situation affected the activity of the residents in neurology, who were also offered the possibility of being formally hired before their training completion. Aims (1) To showcase examples of clinical and research activity of residents in neurology during the COVID-19 pandemic in Italy and (2) to illustrate the point of view of Italian residents in neurology about the possibility of being hired before the completion of their residency program. Results Real-life reports from several areas in Lombardia—one of the Italian regions more affected by COVID-19—show that residents in neurology gave an outstanding demonstration of generosity, collaboration, reliability, and adaptation to the changing environment, while continuing their clinical training and research activities. A very small minority of the residents participated in the dedicated selections for being hired before completion of their training program. The large majority of them prioritized their training over the option of earlier employment. Conclusions Italian residents in neurology generously contributed to the healthcare management of the COVID-19 pandemic in many ways, while remaining determined to pursue their training. Neurology is a rapidly evolving clinical field due to continuous diagnostic and therapeutic progress. Stakeholders need to listen to the strong message conveyed by our residents in neurology and endeavor to provide them with the most adequate training, to ensure high quality of care and excellence in research in the future.

Hydrocarbon gels contain a number of materials, such as rubber, greases, saponified mineral oils, etc., of great interest for various engineering purposes. Specific requirements in mechanical properties have been met by producing gels in appropriately chosen patterns of constituent components of visible, colloidal, molecular and atomic sizes, ranging from coarse-grained aggregates, represented by sponges, foams, emulsions, etc.; to fine-grained and apparently homogeneous ones, represented by optically clear compounds. The engineer who has to deal with the whole range of such materials will adopt a macroscopic point of view, based on an apparent continuity of all the material structures and of the distributions in space and time of the displacements and forces occurring under mechanical actions. It has been possible to determine these distributions in the framework of a comprehensive scheme in which the fundamental principles of the mechanics of continuous media provide the theoretical basis, and a testing instrument of new design, termed Rheogoniometer, the means of experimental measurement (Weissenberg 1931, 1934, 1946, 1947, 1948).

THE road to better child health has been discussed in relation to the doctor and his training, health services and their distribution. We have dealt with the unavoidable question of costs. Particular attention has been given to some of the advantages and dangers of decentralization of pediatric education and services. Each of the various subjects has been discussed from the point of view of its bearing on the ultimate objective of better health for all children and the steps necessary to attain this goal. Now, we may stand back from the many details of the picture, view the whole objectively and note its most outstanding features. First is the fact that the improvement of child health depends primarily upon better training for all doctors who provide child care, general practitioners as well as specialists. This is the foundation without which the rest of the structure cannot stand. The second dominant fact is the need for extending to outlying and isolated areas the high quality medical care of the medical centers, without at the same time diluting the service or training at the center. The road to better medical care, therefore, begins at the medical center and extends outward through a network of integrated community hospitals and health centers, finally reaching the remote and heretofore isolated areas. Inherent in all medical schools is a unique potential for rendering medical services as well as actually training physicians. The very nature of medical education—whereby doctors in training work under the tutelage of able specialists in the clinic, hospital ward, and out-patient department—provides medical services of high quality to people in the neighboring communities.

Subway stations or shield wells are often built using steel reinforced concrete supporting structure materials. These concrete retaining structure materials must be destroyed before launching and receiving of shield, so, some security risks may arise during destroying, and time limit for project may be longer, and the structure strength may be weakened; there are the same problems in crossing the existing subsidiary structure. In the supporting structure, concrete supporting structure materials have been partially substituted by GFRP bars in shield engineering in the world. In order to study the mechanical properties of GFRP bars deeply, experimental research on strength of GFRP bars have been made, and some relation shapes between stress and shear strength have been discussed; all of these are expected to make some basis for the design of GFRP concrete in shield engineering.

In the article modern dance is defined as an effective means of healthcare of children and youth in the educational process. The development of physical qualities, such as motor coordination, has a great importance for the high-quality performing of modern dance techniques and skills. The pedagogical and biomechanical features of teaching the basic motor elements of modern dance are revealed in the work. The results of the formation of statodynamic stability’s parameters in the structure of coordination qualities of younger adolescents are presented. The control took place with the use of a modern stabilographic complex at the ascertaining stage of the experimental research using the author's method of teaching modern dance.Key words: healthcare, coordination qualities, stability, modern dance, physical health.

Fibreglass-reinforced polyester (GRP) is the most widely used composite material in the ship building industry and requires careful study in point of mechanical characteristics. This article presents the collective experience related to behaviour in different situations of GRP loading. We considered three cases manufacturing for GRP: layers with mechanical characteristics for each layer, composite (the material is considered isotropic but with layers and same mechanical properties for all layers), and isotropic plates.

The article is focused on the natural experimental research of injection waterproofing impact on basement areas of existingbuildings brick walls. Two types of experimental installations for waterproofing material injection have been developed. Thesecond type turned out to be more efficient due to the fact that it could cover larger waterproofing wall area. It can possiblyspeed up the process of walls waterproofing and major repairs of buildings in general. According to the experimental data, after the injection waterproofing placement, the wall moisture content decreased by half due to the high quality waterproofingmaterial and performed installation work.
