This social engagement is done in order to improve understanding and performance of the teachers of Taman Rama Jimbaran Junior High School (TRJ-JHS) where there is no teachers that have the background study in Informatics and Technology. There are only 5 classes n TRJ-JHS. This small numbers of classes has caused less number of teaching periods. The solution to solve this problem is by assigning the teachers to teach other subjects that were not their background of study before. Based on the regulation of Educational Ministry Number 15 Year 2018, verse 4 poin 3 stated that “The implementation of learning process is 24 period per week as the minimum total and 40 periods per week as the maximum total. This lack of knowledge has made teachers found difficulties especially regarding the topics about Algorithm and programs. Purposes of study are to improve the level of knowledge and performances also it will enable the teachers to teach the students appropriately based on the competency gained. Method used was online conference through Ms Team. Main findings of this social engagement are: the eagerness of the Principal and teachers of TRJ-JHS to improve level of knowledge and performances by giving feedback through practices. There were 2 times evaluations after 3rd and 4th meetings by reconsidering difficulties on the process. The teachers are able to understand the topics especially on Algorithm and the skills in making and editing the learning videos. The results of pre-test and post-test has shown the improvement where at the pre-test out of 20 participants, 16 failed while 4 passed the passing score 76 and the results of post-test was all participants can get the scored 76 and above. Finally, this improvement is expected to be applied properly and appropriately for students especially for the subject Informatics and technology.

This study was a case study which aimed to analyze the types of questions used by an English teacher, the purposes of questions asked by the teacher, and the strategy used to cope with non-responded questions. The subject of this study was an English teacher who taught seventh grade students at SMPN 1 Singaraja which is located in Singaraja, Buleleng regency, Bali, Indonesia. The data were collected through observation, interview, and video recording. The result of the analysis showed that from 241 questions, the teacher more frequently asked convergent, closed, and display questions rather than divergent, open, and referential questions. Procedural questions were also found. The teacher’s questions served several purposes such as to check students’ knowledge and understanding, to attract students’ activeness, to develop students’ interest and curiosity, and to stimulate students in stating information. It was also found that the teacher used seven strategies to cope with non-responded questions. This study suggested the teacher to balance the number of convergent, closed, and display with divergent, open, and referential questions to be used during teaching and learning process. In addition, the teacher should know more about the strategies for non-responded questions and the proper way to use those strategies to make the teaching and learning process runs smoothly.

Class teaching and learning process has shortcomings, namely limited Class schedule. If the teacher is not in place, the course can not be done. Submission of materials consequently delayed. Utilization of the web as a tool in the lecture can resolve the issue. When the teacher was not there, the lecture could still walk, student attendance can be monitored, the discussion can be done and the task can check on line. Based on these problems will be developed interactive learning web-based application that can be a means of lectures. Model development system used in use is the System Product Development Life Cycle.

We study the dynamics of on-line learning for a large class of neural networks and learning rules, including backpropagation for multilayer perceptrons. In this paper, we focus on the case where successive examples are dependent, and we analyze how these dependencies affect the learning process. We define the representation error and the prediction error. The representation error measures how well the environment is represented by the network after learning. The prediction error is the average error that a continually learning network makes on the next example. In the neighborhood of a local minimum of the error surface, we calculate these errors. We find that the more predictable the example presentation, the higher the representation error, i.e., the less accurate the asymptotic representation of the whole environment. Furthermore we study the learning process in the presence of a plateau. Plateaus are flat spots on the error surface, which can severely slow down the learning process. In particular, they are notorious in applications with multilayer perceptrons. Our results, which are confirmed by simulations of a multilayer perceptron learning a chaotic time series using backpropagation, explain how dependencies between examples can help the learning process to escape from a plateau.

Abstract

The spread of Covid-19 has affected every sector, including education. The learning process that used to take place in the classroom has now become virtualized. However, this exacerbates pupils' difficulties in learning mathematics, which they previously considered challenging even in offline learning activities. To deal with this challenge, it is vital to describe alterations in the learning process under this pandemic situation. This qualitative research was carried out through interviews and questionnaires. The participants were seven teachers and seven students from various junior high schools in Bukittinggi with varying accreditation. Structured interviews, both online and in-person, were used to collect data. The result shows that students could understand the subject better before the pandemic. During the pandemic, the percentage of students who understood the material learning decreased by 10%. However, the percentage of people who use online media as a learning resource has increased by 50%. Overall, the assessment done by teachers on the cognitive aspects of a pandemic by Minimum Completeness Criteria (MCC) remains at 75. In the future, there will be a trend toward the use of e-learning and the development of technology-based learning media in the classroom.

Penyebaran wabah Pandemi Covid-19 telah berdampak pada semua sektor termasuk pendidikan.
