Metadata encodes important knowledge for school library education. This study framed two questions: 1. How are metadata treated in teacher librarian textbooks? 2. What teaching materials are best for teacher librarians’ metadata education? To answer question one, we investigated the regulation of subject and content by Ministry of Education in Japan and we reviewed teacher librarian textbooks. To answer question two, we created an environmental studies database that included geographical metadata, and then surveyed undergraduate students to learn how the database was utilized. In conclusion, we recommend that future studies of metadata examine both how metadata are defined and how metadata are used in particular situations.

The main objective of any curriculum is the relevancy of the content in meeting the curricular and co- curricular short and long term needs of the students so they can function well at their level in the society. The researcher used the content analysis methodology to analyse the content of the Grades 1-6 Ministry of Education Youth and Information (Jamaica) Curricular with the aim of developing a school library cross-curricular. Based on the analyses there was evidence that more information literacy topics were implicitly embedded in the school curriculum guides than media literacy and intercultural dialogue. The AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner competencies was either sufficiently evident, limited or absent from these school curricular. The cooperative learning teaching strategy, the multiple intelligences theory and the Big6 information problem solving skills were also absent from these curricular. The researcher used the subject areas in addition to the MILID components to develop a cross curricular school library MILID curriculum which will facilitate the collaboration of teacher librarians and teachers in the planning and delivery of the lessons.

The ability of teacher librarians worldwide to develop and maintain school library programmes has been severely constrained by a number of factors ranging from inadequate budgetary allocations, lack of support from principals and other key stakeholders such as Ministry of Education personnel. However, even with limited funding and support, some teacher librarians have used ingenious strategies to develop and maintain their library programmes. This literature review synthesizes international research obtained from peer-reviewed journals, theses and professional papers on the personal attributes that a teacher librarian should possess in order to influence the development of a school library programme and the types of relationships the teacher librarian need to have with key stakeholders to be successful. The literature examined spanned a time period mostly from 2000-2018. The literature review found that leadership, collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills were the dominant skills a teacher librarian should possess in order to develop and maintain a school library programme alongside a good relationship with the school community.

Over the past four decades, in Australia, Canada and the USA, school library education at a distance has been delivered though three primary modes: (1) correspondence study; (2) two-way or interactive television and videoconferencing; and (3) Web-based onlinelearning management systems. The theoretical foundations of distance education emphasize that the particular technology or mode of distance education is not as important as the pedagogy employed. Major pedagogical approaches evident in school library education at a distance are: behaviourist/cognitivist; constructivist; and connectivist. This brief history of school library education at a distance focuses on efforts to free school library education from the bounds set by the traditional location and scheduling of library education--on-campus, in universities in cities, with regularly scheduled face-to-face meetings, most amenable to fulltime students. Today’s school library education at a distance is primarily an anytime/anyplace endeavour that is attractive to part time students who are employed full time.

The National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS), an Institute affiliated with the University of Colombo, in Sri Lanka, was established in 1999, with the main objective of training Sri Lankan school librarians and other library staff, under the World Bank project. Accordingly, in 2002, NILIS commenced Certificate, Diploma, and Post-graduate courses for teacher librarians. Concurrently the Ministry of Education selected and trained 4000 teacher librarians with the assistance of NILIS. The training consisted of short term and long term programs commencing at the certificate level and leading to the post graduate level . Teacher librarians were mainly trained to manage school libraries; while being empowered to teach the subjects in which they specialized in the university, or Information literacy, in order to give them the same status as the other teachers. To date NILIS has trained around 2000 teacher librarians under the different categories. In this study, the number of training sessions conducted, number of teachers trained, and the outcome of the programs are elaborated and discussed. Finally, the performance of the teacher librarians after the completion of the masters in teacher librarianship course conducted by NILIS is critically discussed, using the data collected by the interview method with the random sampling technique. The results show that most of the teacher librarians trained at NILIS are performing school library organization activities at a more satisfactory level than prior to receiving their training. Nevertheless, the teaching of information literacy by the teacher librarians to the school children is not being fulfilled at a satisfactory level. Most of the teacher librarians who have obtained higher professional qualifications at NILIS are unsatisfied due to problems with regard to their promotional schemes. Since 2005, NILIS and other relevant bodies have been striving to resolve the problems of the teacher librarians, but so far their efforts have not been successful.

This study examines the extent to which the symbolic and instrumental images and attractiveness toward an organization are related. This study further focuses on global human resource management and reports findings from two studies: Study 1 uses the data from undergraduate students, and Study 2 cross-validates the findings of Study 1 by using actual data from employees. The distinction of this study from previous works is that the present work focuses on a Korean organizational context (collectivistic cultures) and the differences between the potential applicants and employees in the perception of an organization′s attractiveness. Furthermore, it investigates the relationship between the symbolic and instrumental images toward organizations, unlike existing relative research. The results show that the symbolic and instrumental images are related, and the perceptions of the corporate image differ for the potential applicants and employees in the context of collectivistic cultures. The more competent employees consider their organization to be, the more job security they perceive their organization to provide. Moreover, the symbolic image of being competent is negatively related to the instrumental image of job security. Since this study used cross-sectional data, future studies need to use longitudinal data to establish our model′s causal claim empirically and investigate the underlying reasons behind these differences.

Technology and social media platforms are driving an unprecedented reorganization of the learning environment in and beyond schools around the world. Technology provides us leadership challenges, and at the same time offers opportunities for communication and learning through technology channels to support professional development. School librarians and teacher librarians are often working as the sole information practitioner in their school, and need to stay in touch with others beyond their own school to develop their personal professional capacity to lead within their school. The Australian Teacher Librarian Network aims to make a difference, and supports school library staff in Australia and around the world to build professional networks and personal learning connections, offering an open and free exchange of ideas, strategies and resources to build collegiality. This ongoing professional conversation through online and social media channels is an important way to connect, communicate and collaborate in building a vibrant future for school librarians.

The number of U.S. teacher-librarians has greatly diminished despite advocacy efforts by stakeholders. This case study investigated the factors that led governing board members in a mid-sized urban high school district to retain certified teacher-librarian positions despite a major economic crisis. Themes constructed through the analysis were: stakeholder involvement; transparency in communication; trust between district leadership and the governing board; a commitment to the district’s core values; and the value placed on the school library program by the district’s stakeholders. Future research should investigate school districts’ decision-making processes in the retention of teacher-librarian positions during economic crises.

Competence structure that pre-service teachers need to develop to become a future teachers has been defined since the 1930s. For pre-service mathematics teachers, their competence has its own characteristics. ICT integration in developing competence for pre-service mathematics teachers has been been proved to be effective in many previous studies. In Vietnam, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has recommended the use of ICT to enhance teaching-learning activities in schools and universities, therefore, there have been many studies on ICT intergration at different educational levels. However, there are only a few studies on the use ICT integration in developing competence for pre-service mathematics teachers. This paper presents results from a research on the feasibility of ICT integration in developing competence of Vietnamese pre-service mathematics teachers. The research was conducted by surveying on a randomly selected of 297 pre-service mathematics teachers and 40 mathematics lecturers in six universities which provide mathematics training programs. Results show that despite of the availability of technologies, ICT integration in training pre-service teachers is still limited. In addition, ICT integration in teaching activities of mathematics teachers is not really effective because the levels of their ICT skills are very different. Pre-service mathematics teachers have the ability to use ICT equipment, and good accessibility to learning systems, but their use of the learning management systems (LMS) is limited. This study can be a reference for future studies to test the effective of ICT integration in training pre-service teachers when designing activities to develop feasibly and effectively their competence.

Since the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the world of education has been affected by the application of a learning system that is carried out in a blended learning manner. Therefore, this study aims to develop teaching materials in the form of a STEM-based web module using scaffolding to assist the learning process during the covid 19 pandemic. The development of a STEM-based web module using scaffolding is carried out using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). Data were obtained through interviews with physics teachers. Based on the results of interviews with teachers at one of the senior high schools in Batanghari district, it is known that in offline learning, printed books from the school library are still used. Therefore, we need an electronic module that can be accessed anytime and anywhere to facilitate the learning process. So that researchers will develop a STEM-based web module using scaffolding on straight motion physics material for class X high school. The product produced is in the form of a web containing material for straight motion physics class X SMA/MA based on STEM using scaffolding
