The research aims to measure secondary school students career maturity level. The research also attempts to find out whether those variables are related to other variables such as gender and educational stream. A total of 1060 respondents from 106 regular daily national secondary schools in Terengganu have been identified as research sample and they are selected through systematic random sampling process. This survey type of research uses a set of questionnaire and interview protocol. The questionnaire comprised three sub scales: (i) Personal information and student involvement in career guidance and counseling programme, (ii) Career Maturity Inventory. The alpha value for career maturity is 0.92. Data had been analyzed using descriptive analysis i.e. frequency, percentage, t-Test, mean, and standard deviation. Besides, inferential analysis such as ANOVA and linear regression is also applied to test research hypothesis. The result indicates that in general career maturity among the students ranking from low to medium level. It has also found that students’ career maturity are significantly different based on gender and educational stream. However, there is no significant difference between the students’ career maturity based on race. The report concludes although career guidance and counseling programme activity plays important role in the development of the two variable. The findings have important implications for development of career guidance and counseling programme in schools. Key Words: Career Maturity, Career Guidance, Career Counseling Programme.

1. Nine groups of 4 litter-mate Wessex Saddleback gilts were divided on a within-litter basis between 4 treatments so that they were reared from 8 weeks of age to 200 1b. live-weight according to different levels of total feed intake; (a) a high level rising to 8·0 1b. meal per day at 200 1b. live-weight, (b) a medium level approximately 80% of the high, (c) a low level approximately 60% of the high and (d) changing from the low to the medium level between 14 and 16 weeks of age. From 200 1b. live-weight to mating at first heat after reaching 300 1b. all were fed to the medium scale (6·5 1b. meal per day), and all were treated alike during each of 3 pregnancies and lactations.2. Mean rate of growth from weaning to 100 1b. and from 100 to 200 1b. differed significantly between treatments (P<0·001), and mean efficiency of feed conversion of the low-plane group was significantly poorer than that of the high-plane group (P<0·05) from weaning to 100 1b. live-weight.3. All gilts, regardless of treatment, reached puberty at approximately the same age (25 weeks), with the result that mean weight at puberty differed markedly between treatments (P<0·001); 116, 154, 189 and 147 1b. for treatments (a) to (d) respectively.4. Gilts reared on medium and high planes of feeding exhibited oestrus less strongly than those reared on the low-plane, with the result that mean weight at successful mating was significantly greater in these two groups (P<0·05).5. Four gilts in the low-plane group and one in the high-plane group failed to conceive after repeated matings, but numbers were insufficient to indicate the significance of this.6. From the original 36 gilts, 27 first litters, 26 second litters and 25 third litters were produced and reared to 8 weeks of age. There was no significant difference between treatment groups in litter size at birth, mean weight of piglets at 3 or 8 weeks of age or total litter weight at weaning.7. Trouble from temporary collapse of the legs was experienced in all but one gilt of the high-plane group between 6½ and 7½ months of age.

This study examined the epistemological beliefs of preservice teachers, from naïve to sophisticated, from five different departments of the faculty of education in a Turkish university. By using the adapted form of the Schommer Epistemological Questionnaire, social studies, science, Turkish, mathematics, and classroom preservice teachers were surveyed and their epistemological belief levels were determined in terms of department and gender variables. Epistemological beliefs were examined in three dimensions: beliefs that pertain to learning depending on effort, beliefs that pertain to learning depending on ability, and beliefs that pertain to there being only one unchanging truth. The analysis indicated that generally all in departments, preservice teachers have sophisticated beliefs regarding the first two dimensions of the questionnaire. For the third dimension, they seem be at medium level. The results show that for the second dimension females have more sophisticated beliefs than males. For the other two dimensions there was no significant difference between females and males. A significant difference was found only for the first dimension and only between mathematics and classroom preservice teachers.

Nowadays manipulation and depositing of high-level radioactive waste has become the most important issue, which needs to be solved. High-level radioactive waste consists mainly of spent fuel elements from nuclear power plants, which cannot be deposited for long time in surface repositories in the same way as it is possible in case of low and medium level radioactive waste. The most effective and safe solution in longer time horizon seems to be deep geological repository of high level waste. In this process of deposition, large amount of specific conditions needs to be taken into account while designing the whole underground complex, because the materials and structures must fulfil all necessary requirements. Then adequate safety will be ensured.

Society’s reliance on financial planners, to provide a holistic overview on retirement, needs to be supported by unbiased fact. Greninger et al. (2000), found consensus between experts among a panel of 188 financial planners and educators. Consensus was found and there was agreement on the guidelines for planning assumptions and meeting family needs. Nine-tenths of the experts agreed that families should have achieved 50-60% of retirement savings goals by age 50 and 90% by age 60%. Although the consensus level was indeed high, there were noted differences between gender and occupation. Overall, there were more males (55%) than females (45%). Financial planners were predominantly male (77%) with educators predominantly female (59%) creating a significant relationship between occupation and gender in the sample. The study also revealed a significant difference in the educational level of the two occupational subgroups. As expected, most planners possessed bachelor degrees whereas most educators possessed postgraduate degrees up to a doctoral level. On the guidelines where there was a high level of agreement, it would be useful to know how the advice was influenced by varying demographic and educational backgrounds. This study is to determine what differences of opinion might exist between educational and demographic subgroups of financial planners.

The apparent disappearance of sugar injected into normal animals has for a long time puzzled physiological investigators (Bang, Meltzer and Kleiner, Palmer, Woodyatt). When insulin was discovered it was apparent that an agent was available by which the normal processes could be exaggerated, and therefore more easily studied. It was soon shown that the administration of sugar and insulin to the diabetic animal resulted in an increased combustion of carbohydrate and the accumulation of glycogen in the depôts. When, however, attempts were made to trace the fate of the sugar which disappears from the blood of the normal animal under the influence of an injection of insulin, difficulties were encountered. McCormick and Macleod (1) studied the effect of insulin on the glycogen reserves of rabbits which had been starved and treated with epinephrin. In some of the experiments glucose was administered subcutaneously during the period of action of insulin. No significant difference between the glycogen content of the muscles of the control animals and of those which received insulin was observed. The glycogen of the livers of the insulin-treated animals was slightly less than that of the control animals. Macleod (2) concluded from these experiments “that less glycogen is deposited both in the muscles and the liver when insulin is given along with sugar to previously starved animals than when the same amounts of sugar are given alone.” In the experiments of Dudley and Marrian (3), in which the effect of insulin on the liver glycogen of mice was studied, a much smaller amount of glycogen was found in the livers of the animals which received insulin than in those which served for controls. In another series of experiments in which insulin was administered to rabbits which had been previously fed on a carbohydrate rich diet, the glycogen content of the liver and skeletal muscles of the insulin-treated animals was again much less than that of the control animals. In both series of experiments the animals were killed after convulsions had supervened. The experiments of Babkin (4) are similar to those of McCormick and Macleod. In some of his experiments Babkin kept the blood sugar of the rabbits at a high level by the administration of sugar. He found no increase in glycogen after insulin. Kuhn and Baur (5), in a study of the effect of insulin on the glycogen content of the skeletal muscles of rabbits and guinea-pigs, found that, after insulin convulsions, the glycogen had practically disappeared from the muscles of these animals. They are undecided as to whether the depletion of glycogen is a primary effect of insulin or is to be attributed to the convulsions.
