Development in tourism supposed to be development of tourism destinations. There are three main components of tourism destinations that play an important role in the development, which are: tourists, local people (hosts), and the destination itself. This study was designed to record the components of the tourism ecosystem in the Walahar Tourism Destination, Karawang Regency. Walahar is known as a culinary destination in Karawang Regency. This research is expected to produce a model for developing sustainable culinary tourism destinations. The research was compiled with a preliminary stage compiling a profile of all tourism potentials, attractions, and gastronomic tourism products, and the level of readiness of the local community, in the study area. The expected research result is the inventory of the ecosystem components involved in the Walahar culinary destination. The identification of the tourism subsystem in Walahar Village shows that only one of the twelve subsystems qualifies as a tourism destination. Therefore the development of Walahar as a tourism destination requires government’s effort. The development of Walahar as a destination also seems to be a solution to improve the quality of the environment by improving sanitation and environmental hygiene.

Sustainability has been evolving in tandem with societal progress, and as humankind advances, the vision and quality of sustainable development will also change, and most likely in ways that are as yet unpredictable. Sustainability might be incrementally achieved through the integration of economics with biology, philosophy, and neurology. It might also be realized by enhancing our knowledge, our sense and appreciation of environmental beauty and by qualitative and authentic improvements of places, especially tourism destinations. At the end, changes in the physical world only come through changes in human mentality and consciousness. In recent decades, the human mind has been producing exponential changes, though some of these have been delivered in perhaps less than desirable directions. Sustainability, in this sense, is an unending process of moving toward positive outcomes, defined by shifting human beliefs, desires, knowledge, and experiences. Health concerns have always prevented the desires and myths of traveling, but COVID 19 is also precluding the needs of moving.

The river has a substantial contribution in our life. But in reality the quality of rivers in Indonesia is in a heavily polluted condition. Various river structuring efforts have been carried out such as maintaining cleanliness, managing the smooth running of water, and educating people not to throw garbage into the river. This article aims to identify potential and determine the design in developing the Badung River basin to support the development of cultural tourism in Denpasar City. The technique of collecting data uses non-participant observation, document study, and in-depth interviews. This article concludes that Sungai Badung has a variety of tourism potential that can be developed as a new tourist attraction. The concept of development by designing eco-culinary tourism parks combines the concepts of ‘eco-tourism’ and ‘culinary tourism’ in an effort to create sustainable tourism without damaging the river ecosystem.

Observing the recent developments of the demand for tourist products, we notice some very important changes in the tourists’ preferences of consumption toward a different sense of quality, asking for new quality models based on virginity, pure nature, highly maintained clean spaces, authenticity, cultural heritage and high responsibility and consciousness on sustainability. The natural environment represents the main resource to this demand on many tourism destinations. This is related to the fact that tourists increasingly are interested in spending their holidays in unspoiled natural territories. To this end, destination managers recently are under increased pressure to improve their eco-quality, maximize the hygiene, as well as to implement ecologically sustainable practices and systems. Based and stimulated by this evidence, a process of selective targeting/segmentation of tourist market could be an approach to sustainable destination management, both generally in the international market, but very promising to the Albanian case of the tourist sector future development, focusing at the region of Elbasan. Considering and analyzing the ecological footprint of Albania, and particularly that of Elbasan region, this paper will try to test these possibilities. To observe the feasibility of this approach, the study will be focused on tourists, between Albanians and foreign visitors, regarding their main reasons of returning in the same destinations. The questions to be treated will be mainly focused on the quality of the tourist services, the environmentally friendly behavior, as well as psychographic, behavioral, and socio-demographic personal characteristics of the tourists. Focusing and deepening in sustainable tourism destinations’ management could foster the increase in the number of day-vacations for one year, strongly also influencing the normal development of the supporting industries. This asks for techniques which focus on eco-tourism and sustainability at the destinations, even why the tourist himself generally may not necessarily be interested in protecting and caring to the local environment. In conclusion, the study confirms the increasing trend of the orientation of the tourist demand toward unpolluted destinations and attractions, as well as the tendency to safeguard the environment and to use sustainable tourist resources
