Problem of globalization of the educational process and integration into the international educational space is one of the most urgent problems for the Kazakh universities. In this regard, generalization of experience in training of PhD students is of particular interest, since training of PhD students is different in different countries. The example of the organization of educational process and scientific research in the PhD studies of chemical specialties at Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology Al-Farabi Kazakh National University shows the peculiarities of the organization and defense of dissertations in Kazakhstan universities. It is shown that the training of specialists - doctoral students at Kazakhstan universities is carried out on the basis of theoretical and practical tests. At the same time currently the state of theoretical training and practical research is 1:1,5 however there is a tendency of decrease of the theoretical training. Conditions for preparation and defense of PhD-dissertations are described. The main requirements for the defense are marked: fulfillment of theoretical training and practical research in amount of 75 credits, the publication of results in journals with non-zero impact factor and approbation of the results in international scientific conferences.

Science and technology information has been an important driving force in the information society and knowledge economy. Access to scientific and technological information for scientific research becomes an essential need and a factor affecting the quality of scientific research and innovation, thereby posing a problem to establish a legal framework for recognising and enforcing the right to access scientific and technological information. Based on identifying and evaluating the current legal status on the right to access to science and technology information, this study proposes solutions to improve the legal framework to ensure the enforcement of the right to access science and technology information in Vietnam.

Abstract Citizen science can be thought of as a tremendous catalyst for making Digital Earth a participation model of our world. This chapter presents a wide overview of the concept and practice of citizen science in terms of the technologies and social impact. Definitions of citizen science and various existing approaches to citizen involvement are described, from simple contributions to projects proposed by someone else to the design and planning of science as a bottom-up process. To illustrate these concepts, the relevant example of OpenStreetMap is described in detail, and other examples are mentioned and briefly discussed. Social innovation connected with citizen science is focused on to highlight different levels of direct citizen contributions to scientific research and indirect effects on academia, and studies driven by new questions that may support responsible research and innovation (RRI), governments and public administration in making better informed decisions. Despite its growth and success in relatively few years, citizen science has not fully overcome a number of persistent challenges related to quality, equity, inclusion, and governance. These themes and related complex facets are discussed in detail in the last section of the chapter.

Abstract Background To investigate the problems and countermeasures faced by five-year clinical medical students in an entrepreneurship training programme for medical students from different perspectives to promote medical teaching reforms. Methods A total of 600 five-year clinical medicine majors (grades 16-18) of Bengbu Medical College (including those who did and did not participate in large-scale innovative projects) were studied by means of network questionnaires and interviews. Statistical analysis was used to analyse the results. Results Students generally hope to improve the teaching quality and teaching mode of scientific research; they have strong interest in scientific research and hope to conduct scientific research training in their spare time without affecting their studies. Moreover, students hope to improve the incentive policy for innovation and to optimize the funding for scientific research and the policy of laboratory opening. Conclusions Clinical medical students in our hospital attach great importance to the cultivation of scientific research ability, understand the problems faced by medical undergraduates in the process of innovative projects, and provide specific quantitative data for the reform of medical education modes to cultivate the innovative ability of medical students.

In China, universities are important centers for SR (scientific research) and innovation, and the quality of SR management has a significant impact on university innovation. The informatization of SR management is a critical component of university development in the big data environment. As a result, it is crucial to figure out how to improve SR management. As a result, this paper builds a four-tier B/W/D/C (Browser/Web/Database/Client) university SR management innovation information system based on big data technology and thoroughly examines the system’s hardware and software configuration. The SVM-WNB (Support Vector Machine-Weighted NB) classification algorithm is proposed, and the improved algorithm runs in parallel on the Hadoop cloud computing platform, allowing the algorithm to process large amounts of data efficiently. The optimization strategy proposed in this paper can effectively optimize the execution of scientific big data applications according to a large number of simulation experiments and real-world multidata center environment experiments.

Scientific Research and Innovation (R&I) may be considered respectively "the spoken language and the written language of every culture".The first is necessary to discover new lands, while the second results fundamental to build housed & roads and make food, necessary for an healthy living. At this purpose, the scientific research may be distinguished in 3 different phases: basic and experimental research, applied research and industrial research. Innovation comes from the basic research, while the applied research represents the bridge between the basic research and the industrial ones.
