The effect of oral dosing of bacterial suspension of two types of lactic acid bacteria belonging to the genus lactobacilli that locally isolate on some biochemical and physiological criteria of female rats blood were studied. Three isolates of L. bulgarious and three isolates of L. delbeakli were obtained from the laboratories at the college of educationBreeding/university of Tikrit. Bacterial suspension given as a single oral dose of 2 ml(13 x 108 cell \ ml) for seven day. The results showed no significant changes P≥0.05 in at the blood physiological variables, especially hemoglobin (Hb) , packed cell volume (PCV) ,and total number of white blood cells (WBCs) , while there were significant reduction in the blood biochemical variables, particularly the level of cholesterol, and glucose, but there was no significant effect on some liver enzymes, compared with the values and the results of a group of control animals.

This study was conducted to investigate the ameliorative effect of lactic acid bacteria Lactobacillus casei and Lactobacillus acidophilus against Potassium bromate (25, 50) mg / kg toxicity  by some physiological indicators in 35 of female rats after 21 days. The animals were divided into 7 groups within each group 5 animals weighted 140 – 155 g. The results showed a significant decrease (P<0.05) in value of Red blood cells (RBC), hemoglobin (Hb), White blood cells (WBC), Lymphocyte (LYM) and Platelets (PLT), While increasing the values of Granules (GRN). Also found that the addition of Potassium bromate Potassium bromate led to increase in cholesterol, triglyceride (TG), Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) and blood glucose, while decreased the values of High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) for rats groups with  increasing the concentration of Potassium bromate compared with control group. The addition of two types of lactic acid bacteria L. casei and L. acidophilus  with Potassium bromate showed a positive effect to reducing the negative effect of  Potassium bromate on blood and lipid profile parameters compared with the control group and Potassium bromate group. It is concluded that the lactic acid bacteria has protective effects and reduces the effects that Potassium bromate.

A lysogenic culture, prepared in the laboratory from a strain of Streptococcus lactis, was used as a cheese starter in commercial factories. It was attacked in turn by two other unrelated phage races. The lysogenic condition, which involved slight morphological and physiological changes, persisted in the subsequent forms resistant to one or both the new phage races. Acquired resistance to any one of the three phages did not protect the culture from the other two phages.In nature such interactions between phage races and lactic acid bacteria must be constantly taking place, giving rise to similarly related strains.Two of the three phage races produced spreading haloes around their plaques due to a lysin released during phage action. The lysin may also interfere with the survival of secondary growth after attack by these phage races. Production of this type of lysin is thus a property of the phage race and not of the bacterial strain.

The present study designed  to investigate the hematological and blood biochemical changes in pre and post lambing periods in Iraqi Nuaemie ewes. Ten Nuaemie ewes weighed 35-45 kg and aged between 2-3 years were reared in animal's house of Veterinary College / Tikrit University from October-2018 to March-2019, Ten ml of blood samples were collected from each animal during the periods of last gestation month, at lambing and 2 weeks thereafter, Two and half ml of blood samples were collected in EDTA- containing tubes to determine the hematological parameters and the remaining was used to separate serum and stored at -20 °c for blood biochemical assessment. The results   revealed decreased in total red blood cells, haemoglobin and packed cell volume during post lambing period. The total white blood cells count and neutrophils were decreased during the post-partum period, while the lymphocyte was decreased at the day of lambing (50±5.8%). The biochemical parameters exhibited lesser total protein concentrations at the day of lambing (6.5± 1.85 g/dl ) while greater glucose, cholesterol and triglyceride concentrations during post-partum period. The concentration of urea and creatinine increased during the pre-partum period whereas, LDL and HDL concentrations increased in post- lambing period. The minerals concentrations revealed lesser concentrations of Zink and iron during the post-partum period while, copper concentration was greater during similar period. In conclusion, the physiological status of animals have clearly effects on the haematological and biochemical parameters in Iraqi Nuaemie ewes.

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for more than 90% of primary liver cancers and is a major global health problem. The present application relates to normalizing abnormal levels of hematological blood parameters, oxidative stress indicators, and liver enzyme levels in the rats using melanin, and particularly, to treating their abnormal levels, in addition to evaluate the role of melanin during and after the progression of HCC, which will be supplemented histologically. Hematological blood parameters such as white blood cells (WBCs), red blood cells (RBCs), hemoglobin (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), and platelets (PLTs); liver enzymes such as alanine transaminase (ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST); oxidative stress such as glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and superoxide dismutase (SOD); LP malondialdehyde (MDA) were evaluated in all groups of rats. Injection of Diethylnitrosamine (DEN) and 2-Acetyaminofluorine (2-AFF) induced HCC in the rats accompanied with a significant reduction in WBCs, RBCs, HGB, HCT, and PLTs, GSH-PX, and SOD; while a significant elevation was observed in ALT and AST, and MDA compared to the control. Melanin normalized all the above mentioned parameters during and after the progression of cancer towards their control values. These results demonstrate the beneficial use of melanin as a powerful antioxidant tool in inhibiting and treating HCC in the rats.

The female rats of wild type 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after mating were administered intraperitoneally medicinal leech saline extract antigens (4 injection). Studied females after feeding the offspring and the offspring itself in dynamics at 1, 15, 30, 60 days. All animals were decapitated under anesthesia after measuring morphometric parameters of the body. Then we did the autopsy animals and studied morphometric parameters of immunogenic organs (spleen and thymus), laboratory parameters: total white blood cells count, red blood cells count, hemoglobin, color index, leukocyte formula. As a result of our investigations was found an immunostimulatory effect of antigens from saline extract of the medicinal leech on morphometric parameters of the body and major immunogenic organs of rats. Under the influence of medical leeches’ antigens from the first day increased the number of white blood cells, increased the number of red blood cells, increased hemoglobin, color index was in the normal range. Changes of morphological and hematological parameters indicate the immune-stimulating impact of medical leeches’ antigens on leucopoiesis, erythropoiesis and morphogenesis.

The goal of this study to investigate the effects of Nigella sativa (Ns) oil on reproductive values, some hematological parameters serum biochemical characteristics, some sexual hormones concentration and histological changes of treated and normal male reproductive organs. The experiment (1) dealt with 20 males and 20 female rats at 21 days of age, 10 rats of each sex were giving orally Ns oil at the rate of 1ml/kg/day for 30 days and the others left as a control group. Insignificant changes were occurred in hematological parameters except the white blood cells (WBCs), were significantly increased in treated groups (P<0.05). The treated groups showed significant increases in total protein and significant decreases in total cholesterol liver enzymes markedly increased in treated rats Significant increases in the levels of LH, FSH and testosterone for males and LH, FSH, estrogen and progesterone for females were recorded. The experiment (2) dealt with effects of Ns oil on 20 adult males and 20 adult female rats that were given same dose of Ns oil for 30 days. There were significant increase in litter size and weight of rats born in treated groups. The experiment (3) dealt with the effects of Ns oil on castrated males fifteen adult rats were divided equally into 3 groups, two groups were castrated while, the third group was left as a control group; one castrated group was treated with same dose of Ns oil for 30 days, there were significant increases in serum testosterone concentration and weight of accessory glands in treated group. Histological changes in the accessory glands of treated groups were evident.In conclusion, the administration of 1ml/kg/day of Ns oil stimulated the secretion of sexual hormones that led to improve protein synthesis of hepatic enzymes, white blood cells count and decrease the serum cholesterol concentration in blood

Abstract Background Factor V Leiden polymorphism is a well-recognized genetic factor in the etiology of preeclampsia. Considering that Ghana is recording high incidence of preeclampsia, we examined if factor V Leiden is a contributory factor to its development and pregnancy outcomes. Methods STROBE consensus checklist was adopted to recruit eighty-one (81) consenting subjects after ethical clearance. Subjects were followed up till delivery to obtain outcomes of PE. Routine blood chemistry and proteinuria were done on all samples. Factor V Leiden was characterized by polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). The data was captured as protected health information (PHI) and analyzed with SPSS version 22. Results Overall allelic frequencies found in FVL exon 10 were 0.67 and 0.33 for G and A alleles respectively. The FVL mutation was more in PE and hypertensive patients. Increased white blood cells, increased uric acid and a three – fold increment of AST / ALT ratio was observed in PE cases when stratified by FVL exons (exon 8 and 10). Significant differences were also observed between FVL and age, systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), liver enzymes, white blood cells (wbc), hemoglobin levels. Conclusion FVL mutation allele frequency was 0.33, a first report. The mutation was associated with increased uric acid, liver enzymes and blood cell indices suggestive of acute inflammation.

Abstract Pathogenic infections increase morbidity and reduce performance in livestock, and thus understanding the comprehensive physiological changes associated with infections can benefit production sustainability. In this study, we sought to investigate such physiological responses to an acute immune challenge in lambs. Polypay wethers received single IV injections of 1.5 µg/kg lipopolysaccharide endotoxin (LPS-injected; n = 6) or saline (controls; n = 6). Corneal temperatures (via infrared thermography), rectal temperatures, blood, plasma, and saliva were assessed every 2 h for 10 h after injections. Blood was also assessed at 24 h. LPS-injected lambs exhibited elevated (P &lt; 0.05) corneal and rectal temperatures that peaked at 4 h but were still slightly greater (P &lt; 0.05) than controls at 10 h. Circulating total white blood cells, monocytes, and granulocytes were reduced (P &lt; 0.05) in LPS-injected lambs within the first 4 h but were subsequently greater (P &lt; 0.05) than in controls. Lymphocytes were reduced (P &lt; 0.05) in LPS-injected lambs over the first 8 h and did not differ from controls thereafter. Red blood cells, hematocrit, and hemoglobin were increased (P &lt; 0.05) in LPS-injected lambs over the first 6 h, indicating mild dehydration. Blood glucose briefly increased (P &lt; 0.05) in LPS-injected lambs at 2 h but was less (P &lt; 0.05) than in controls thereafter. Blood lactate was greater (P &lt; 0.05) in LPS-injected lambs between 6 and 10 h after injections, which together with reduced (P &lt; 0.05) CO2 partial pressure indicated a metabolic shift toward glycolysis. LPS-injected lambs exhibited a transient increase (P &lt; 0.05) in plasma TNFα at 2 and 4 h only and sustained increases (P &lt; 0.05) in CXCL9 and CXCL10 beginning at 6 and 4 h, respectively. They also exhibited a mild, paradoxical increase (P &lt; 0.05) in the anti-inflammatory sFRP3. Salivary TNFα was increased (P &lt; 0.05) in LPS-injected lambs at 2 h only. Regression analyses indicated that rectal temperatures were a generally poor predictor of the other inflammatory components in this study, with the exception of circulating leukocyte populations. Likewise, correlations among the 10 cytokines measured in this study were generally weak, with notable exceptions between CXCL9 and CXCL10 and between IL-21 and IFNγ. These findings demonstrate that physiological changes to even short-lived immune challenges are dynamic in nature and persist beyond the time frame of febrile responses and other common assessments.
