Bats are the second most diverse taxa of mammals in the world, after rodents. Some studies have evaluated if there is a relationship between the environment and the morphology of bats, because environmental conditions can have an important influence on the phenotype of the species. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the relationship between a morphological variable (body mass index - BMI) of populations of the species Artibeus planirostris and the environment, considering the climatic variation in two hydrographic basins of the center of the Brazilian Amazon. The hypothesis is that the BMI responds to the environmental variables of each site. This will be higher during the rainy season and in the high water period, responding to a high availability of resources, according to studies carried out in the same region. 400 bats were captured, of which 180 were males and 220 were females. Although the index seemed to show differences considering the sex of the individuals, both in the Madeiras river basin (ANOVA: gl = 1, F = 6.90, P = .00) and in the Purus river (ANOVA: gl = 1, F = 3.95, P = .01), there was no significant difference between the BMI and the different environments, considering the climate season. It is concluded that, in this study, no evidence was found to support the hypothesis about the influence of the environment on BMI in populations of the bat species Artibeus planirostris in the center of the Brazilian Amazon.

AbstractObjective: To relate two equations of the anthropometric method of the Body Mass Index (BMI) proposed by Quételet and Trefethen in women. Methods: The sample consisted of 222 women from the municipality of Canoinhas/SC, aged between 18 and 49 years. For the anthropometric measures body mass and height were evaluated. By means of the data obtained, the BMI was calculated using the formulas: Quételet= (kg/m2) and Trefethen= (1,3*kg/m2,5). In the data analysis, descriptive statistics were performed, the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) was performed to verify the relationship between the methods and the Bland-Altman test was used to verify the concordance between the equations. A significance level of p <0.05 was adopted. Results: A very strong and significant relationship was found (r= 0.98, p= <0.001) with a confidence interval (95% CI= 0.93-0.99) and concordance between the BMI equations. Conclusion: The BMI equation of Trefethen showed a very strong and significant association with the BMI equation of Quételet in women.

Body mass index (BMI) is to monitor nutritional status adults, especially those related to deficiency and overweight. Body fat percentage can describe the risk of degenerative diseases. This study was conducted to measure the relationship between BMI and body fat percentage. Methods An analytical study was conducted to 41 male and 51 female participant from Universitas Teuku Umar. The body weight was measured using scales, whereas the body height was measured using microtoise. The body fat percentage was measured using Karada Scan. The BMI was calculated by dividing the body weight in kilogram divided by body height in meter square. Data was collected from 16-18th February 2021 and analyzed by Pearson’s correlation test. The results showed BMI underweight, normal, and overweight were 10,9, 57,6, and 31,5. High body fat percentage in men were 75,6% and in women were 35,5%. There is a relationship between the nutritional status of the women group and the body fat percentage with p-value is obtained = 0.021. Furthermore, for men, there is no relationship between nutritional status in the men group and the body fat percentage. There is a relationship between nutritional status and body fat percentage in women. Among this population, BMI can still be used to determine body fat percentage

Introduction: Dietary factors or eating patterns can cause patients to experience anorexia so that it affects the body mass index measured by CKD patients (Susetyowati, 2014). Therefore, it is important to understand the research when studying the relationship between the diet of CKD patients and the body mass index of patients undergoing hemodialysis at the Dik Pusdikkes Hospital in 2021. Objective: This study aims to determine how big the influence of the relationship between the diet of CKD patients and the body mass index of patients undergoing hemodialysis to improve the quality of life of CKD patients. Method: The type of research used is quantitative research with a correlational design to determine whether there is a relationship between variables using experimental research. The population in this study that became the study population were all hemodialysis patients at the AD Pusdikkes Hospital. The sampling technique used was total sampling. The research instrument used is a questionnaire. The questionnaire is not standardized so that validity and reliability tests are carried out. In this study, the analysis used the chi-square test. Results: the results of the chi-square test showed that the p-value (0.028) <0.05 then Ha was accepted or there was a relationship between the diet of CKD patients and the patient's body mass index. Conclusion: Based on the results of the analysis of the relationship between the evaluation of hemodialysis patients at RS Dik Pusdikkes Kodiklat AD, 9 respondents had a poor diet with a body mass index in the lean category of 6 people (66.7%) and the normal category of 3 people (33.3%). And 11 respondents have a good diet relationship with body mass index in the thin category of 2 people (40.0%) and the normal category of 12 people (60%).

Abstract Introduction. It’s known that the issue of polytrauma is one of the most urgent problems of surgery, and among injured patients a special approach is required for patients with overweight and obesity of varying degrees. Purpose of the study. To study prognostic features of traumatic disease course and to improve the results of diagnostics and surgical treatment of patients with polytrauma suffer obesity. Materials and methods. Clinical material was made up of 106 patients with combined body trauma, which were divided into three groups according to body mass index. Results. The results of the research showed a significant difference in the course of traumatic disease in patients with normal body weight and obesity. In particular, in the process of diagnostics of blunt chest and abdominal trauma the frequency of application of interventional methods of diagnostics was directly proportional to the increase of body mass index. The course of traumatic disease in the obese patients had a number of characteristic features that formed the basis for the development of diagnostics and differential program of treatment. Conclusions. The results of the research showed that the course of traumatic disease in combined injury obese patients is directly proportional to the body mass index and has certain features that differentiate them from patients with normal body weight. Keywords: polytrauma, obesity, traumatic disease, diagnostics, treatment.
