The bench-to-bedside approach to translational research is becoming increasingly important to efficiently advance understanding of the mechanisms underlying disease and to improve the quality of patient care. Although this investigation model has been practiced since the early days of the therapy, robust research platforms built to practice translational research have only recently been structured in the field of peritoneal dialysis. Experience with a translational research environment that generated most of the information cited in this overview is the core of this manuscript. The central investigation theme described is how to approach the cardiovascular complications of peritoneal dialysis. The research question was, could the continuous activation of inflammatory pathways be central in this process and represent a relevant target for interventions?

Luthans and Avolio (2003) have posited that we need methods to develop authentic leaders. One method is to form learning communities on college campuses. Within these communities, peer leaders influence the development of newly admitted peers. The question is: why do some students become peer leaders and others do not? We believe that the answer lies somewhere in their core values. By the time people enter college, they are predisposed to value certain end-states and modes of conduct. Therefore, it is important to determine these predispositions so that leadership development opportunities such as peer leadership can be made available to those who are ready for this type of development. However, at this point we do not know which core values make a difference. This gap in the knowledge is what led to this study. The findings identify the core values of both peer leaders and non-peer leaders. In most cases, these values are the same for both groups. However, the core value of a sense of accomplishment stands out as being significant in determining who will select this type of leadership development opportunity. The paper expands on how to find, nurture, and affirm these select students.

This study examines codes of conduct of women in carrying out their life according to the Qurtubi text by TGH. Alimuddin Praya West Nusa Tenggara.  As the Islamic text from which values of women conducts based on hadits and the exemplars of Siti Fatimah, the daughter of the Muhammad Prophet, the text has been referenced as the core value of teaching for the society.  This study used content analysis where themes and constructs of morale were focused from the text. The study used is a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical method, namely a method that expresses the actual situation in the text. Data were collected using documentation techniques, interviews and content analysis.  The results show the code of conduct of women is conveyed through dialogue and actions experienced by the character depicted in the TGH Qurtubi text of Alimuddin Praya Lombok West Nusa Tenggara. The description of the action includes three codes, namely: 1) codes of conduct of women that depict social goodness, 2) codes of conduct of women that describe acts of conflict, and 3) codes of conduct of women that describe the attitude of guard and maintain.  This teaching implies that codes of conduct of the women indicate the attitude to develop understanding, actions or the nature of maintaining positive norms that are not contrary to the values of religion, culture or customs that apply.

Background/Context Research in the latter half of the 20th century purporting to show significant racial differences in intelligence and social behavior appears to pit civil rights concerns against the freedom of scientific inquiry. The core hypotheses and presumptions of recent research on racial difference are not new, however, but spring from a two-century-old program of research that has sought to demonstrate racial differences in socially valued traits. Purpose/Objective/Research Question/Focus of Study The purpose of this review was to explore the history of racial difference research in order to (1) elucidate the central themes of that research and (2) explore the reasons for the persistence of those themes into modern racial difference research. Research Design The investigation is a historical analysis of research on racial differences from the late 18th century to the present. Conclusions/Recommendations Both the methodologies and the willingness to express the core hypotheses of a fixed differential between races on socially important characteristics have changed over time, yet adherence to a set of core research questions has remained relatively unchanged across generations of researchers. Although the consistent conflation of its political and scientific aims has, to some extent, compromised the scientific status of racial difference research, consistent links to social and economic policy have also ensured its intergenerational reproduction. Convergent shifts across a number of disciplines suggest that a Kuhnian-type paradigm shift may be under way that will redefine both the strategies and the types of questions that may characterize future research in the areas of race, ethnicity, and culture.

Abstract In Europe, agroecology has become the center of many debates that animate political and professional arenas, particularly regarding the definition and scope of the concept itself. This paper attempts to understand the ways that the term agroecology is conceptualized by different participantsparticipants and how these concepts circulate so as to explore the interests at stake in the institutionalization of agroecology within the research and education institutions of Europe. We address the core research question of: what dynamics emerge in the networks of European stakeholders of agroecology? By combining different approaches of institutionalization based on network and discourse analysis, we study the dynamics of research, education and training organizations. We identify 10 different concepts of agroecology, distributed among 103 organizations. The significant difference that has been observed between the agroecological concepts in research and those in education/training emphasizes the gap between these two disciplines. The latter support a more political, transdisciplinary and holistic view of agroecology when compared to the former. Moreover, collaboration among European agroecology stakeholders is limited in both research and education/training. We also found that in most cases, collaboration between scholars does not guarantee a shared notion of agroecology, and conversely, sharing the same notion of agroecology does not assure collaboration. This led us to question the feasibility of institutionalizing agroecology and the missing link between a shared vision and the collective mobilization of stakeholders around a strong agroecology programme.

With the deep integration development of culture and tourism, cultural tourism brand has become an important factor of core competitiveness. As the brand of cultural tourism of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture (hereafter referred to as Xiangxi), “Mystery” represents the core value of Xiangxi’s culture and tourism. The publicity video of Mysterious Xiangxi becomes the important carrier of the “Mystery” brand, playing a vital role in the transmission of brand image. This paper illustrates and analyzes the constructing features of brand image of “Mystery” from dimensions of representation meaning, interactive meaning and composition meaning respectively based on visual grammar, and puts forward some suggestions on it combining with four factors of cultural brand image design.
