Abstract. The emergency situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic has forced Catholics to worship by attending online mass. Although it is seen as a quick and responsive solution for the Church, many have questioned the efficacy or usefulness of online mass as a means and sign of God's salvation for His people. This paper provides an explanation of the efficacy of online mass as a sacrament of salvation by using the text Mark 5:25-34 about a haemorrhaging woman suffering who received miracles of healing after touching the garment of Jesus. This study was conducted by Narrative Criticism with the Exegetical Symbol Analysis approach. The analogy of the miracle of healing obtained by touching the robe of Jesus provides an understanding that the efficacy of online mass as a sacrament of salvation continues to work even though it is not experienced directly or in distance.

Abstract: Church growth is an important essence that needs to be considered in carrying out the mission of the Great Commission of Jesus Christ. The church growth model that needs to be applied is not only inward but needs outward growth. The church can be called ideal and whole if it is serious about these two aspects. Conversely, if the church ignores one of these aspects, then the church can be called as not growing. This growth model can be seen from the context of Acts 2: 42-47. This study uses a data collection system from the literature relating to text and context with an exegetical analysis approach to each word, phrase in this context to find the meaning of whole church growth. The results of this analysis will give an impetus to the church to build unity of the congregation in Christ.

If the Church is perceived as a moral institution, then this institution should play a greater role in fighting corruption. However, the facts show the opposite which until now Papua is included in the list of the top ten most corrupt provinces, even though more than 80% of the population claims to be Christian. This study uses a content analysis approach. Researchers reduced the findings based on four levels categories, namely the equivalent word category, cognitive, affective, and conative. This article investigates how the reading of the Bible in the segregated spheres of church, society and academy has been institutionalised in the way Biblical Studies is taught at most state universities and seminaries in South Africa. It proposes that the way students are trained for ministry should be restructured so that they are encouraged to intentionally use the hermeneutical insights they have obtained in their biblical studies to create stereoscopic readings of the Bible for use in ecclesiological settings. A stereoscopic reading of the Bible directly challenges the clear distinction that is often made between the way in which the Bible is read in the sphere of the church in contrast to that of the academic sphere. Students must not only be taught the theory of source criticism, redaction criticism, tradition criticism, narrative criticism and other approaches to the study the Bible; they must also be taught how to create material with which to help others gain a deeper understanding of the biblical text by reflecting on its inter- and intra-texts, as well as the various pre-texts, final-texts and post-texts that all form part of what the church considers to be scripture.

Main Street in Sarasota, Florida. A high-tech medical arts building rises from the east end, the county's historic three-story courthouse is two blocks to the west and sandwiched in between is the First Church of Christ, Scientist. A verse inscribed on the wall behind the pulpit of the church reads: “Divine Love Always Has Met and Always Will Meet Every Human Need.” This is the church where William and Christine Hermanson worshipped. It is just a few steps away from the courthouse where they were convicted of child abuse and third-degree murder for failing to provide conventional medical care for their seven-year-old daughter. This Article is about the intersection of “divine love” and “the best interests of the child.” It is about a pluralistic society where the dominant culture reveres medical science, but where a religious minority shuns and perhaps fears that same medical science. It is also about the struggle among different religious interests to define the legal rights of the citizenry.

AbstractThis paper examines the actions of one Salvadorean priest – Padre David Rodríguez – in one parish – Tecoluca – to underscore the importance of religious leadership in the rise of El Salvador's contentious political movement that began in the early 1970s, when the guerrilla organisations were only just beginning to develop. Catholic leaders became engaged in promoting contentious politics, however, only after the Church had experienced an ideological conversion, commonly referred to as liberation theology. A focus on one priest, in one parish, allows for generalisation, since scores of priests, nuns and lay workers in El Salvador followed the same injustice frame and tactics that generated extensive political mobilisation throughout the country. While structural conditions, collective action and resource mobilisation are undoubtedly necessary, the case of religious leaders in El Salvador suggests that ideas and leadership are of vital importance for the rise of contentious politics at a particular historical moment.
