The article explores the nature and essential characteristics of process-based management of enterprise economic potential in the frameworks of system analysis of the current approaches and critical thinking to the development of modern economic theory. A retrospective analysis of the research studies over the past two decades has provided insights into the nature of an ‘economic potential’ concept and has revealed a shift of focus in understanding and interpretation of the given category. It is emphasized that modern scholarly publications demonstrate evidence of extensive research on various aspects of the economic potential concept and fundamental differences in the above term interpretations, however, the application of structural analysis would greatly enlarge the research scope, in particular, will enable to identify the four basic dimensions: the level and functionality of resources, their value-based perspective, along with the focus to production outcome or a transformation process. Through the realization of such approach, a company will get an opportunity to build an up-to-date action plan trajectory; accumulate the necessary range of resources, skills and capabilities, where company business processes of sustainable operation and development are designed to ensure their close interaction, clear manner and consistency. An in-depth literature review to summarize numerous academic viewpoints has provided for identifying a business process as a set of interrelated activities that have their entry and exit points, specific interfaces, and organizational structure. Through a number of functions, they effectively design a range of actions and perform tasks to ensure well-ordered operation, thus producing results (production outcomes) that have value to a customer. A thorough study on modern companies’ economic potential provides argument that it is the business process that creates opportunities to shape its capacity to manufacture competitive products to meet customers’ needs. These companies understand the vast potential sustainable development provides that translates into the growing need to design their own strategic indicators to ensure common and effective structure and organizational pattern of business processes. In this context, such factors as the company size, price or other indicators are becoming paramount. Companies always strive for attaining better performance, thus it is critical to develop a reasonable ranking methodology to manage fundamental and auxiliary business processes, as well as the company internal efficiency. This study has deployed commonly accepted indicators of quality assurance affected by economic potential factors through active interaction between company business processes, technology, human resources, management, information, knowledge, etc. The research findings have revealed the specifics of a certain shift in business management associated with the transition from functional management approach to process-based management. Accordingly, the economic potential is viewed as a network of interconnected decisions and processes. Since the main characteristics of the economic potential are the structure of business processes and the relationships between them at different levels which accommodate the important phases of business planning, control and adjustment to changing environment, the ultimate benefit a company obtains is the relevant toolkit to ensure effective business development.

The purpose of the article. The article considers the features of strategic human resource management as the basis of strategic potential, which affects the competitiveness of the enterprise, determines the directions of its development. The scheme of the system of strategic human resources management is presented. The goals of personnel policy and a set of tasks that allow them to be implemented are determined. The ways of realization of the strategy of human resources management at an industrial enterprise are offered. It is established that the process of implementing the strategy of the enterprise should be divided into certain conditional stages, which should be included in the action plan for the implementation of the strategy.Methodology. The strategic goal of human resources management system is to ensure the development of the enterprise through the efficient use of human capital. When forming a human resources management strategy, the main task is to identify and take into account future changes and trends, to justify changes that contribute to the sustainable development of the enterprise. The process of strategy development and implementation is continuous, which is covered in close connection with the solution of strategic tasks both in the long run and in the medium and short term, i.e. their solution in terms of strategic, tactical and operational management. Such specification of human resources management strategy and bringing it to strategic objectives and individual actions is embodied in the strategic plan – a document containing specific tasks and measures to implement the strategy, the timing of their implementation and responsible executors for each task, the amount of resources required.Results. Implementation of human resources management strategy is an important stage of the strategic management process. For it to be successful, the organization's management must adhere to the following rules: firstдн, the goals, strategies, tasks of personnel management must be carefully and timely communicated to all employees of the organization in order to obtain from them not only understanding of the organization and service personnel management, but also informal involvement in the implementation of strategies, in particular, the development of obligations to employees of the organization to implement the strategy; secondдн, the general management of the organization and the heads of personnel management service must not only ensure the timely use of all necessary resources (material, equipment, office equipment, financial, etc.), but also have a plan for implementing the strategy in the form of targeted guidelines for the state and development labor potential and record the achievement of each goal.Practical implications. The process of implementing the strategy of an industrial enterprise requires fundamentally different approaches than the process of strategy formation. First of all, because it is mainly organizational process, while the formation of strategy is mainly an analytical one. The process of implementing the company's strategy can also be divided into certain conditional stages, more precisely, areas of activity that should be included in the action plan to implement the strategy. Initial among them is decomposition, i.e. the development on the basis of a strategic plan of tactical, operational plans, as well as policies, programs, projects, rules and procedures.Value/originality. Thus, the relationship of personnel strategy and general strategy of enterprise development is realized through a mechanism that includes: coordination of goals of both strategies, the relationship of their functions, coordination of business processes of personnel management with other business processes, integration of personnel strategy results to aggregate results of the organization, control of compliance of the obtained results with the defined strategic goals of the organization. Of particular importance is the approach to human resource management as a business process. Personnel processes as a certain sequence of interrelated actions for the implementation of personnel management functions are aimed at: transformation of human assets of the organization in accordance with its strategic priorities; transformation of working conditions of employees of the organization in accordance with the expectations and needs of staff; creation of new management technologies and other HR-products.

Computer games conceptualization and development are processes that have particular features with significant complexity. The life cycle at computer games development should attend the dynamism, the challenge and the opportunities of the game market. Business process management (BPM) pretends to give an alternative perspective of management to the departmental and hierarchical one. Game firm’s business should be seen with an integrated attitude, incentivising employees from different departments to work together in the same process with a common mission and persecuting same objectives. The importance of integrating the strategic level plans and the task level deployment is crucial for increased alignment and so, organizational performance. This can be better done if there is a process strategy definition, which links strategic initiatives with all needs of a process infrastructure. The processes´ standardizing tendency opens the chance to outsource parts of them bringing possible benefits to game firm and customers. The definition of a clear framework at the strategic level allows lower processes description and global business process architecture specification. Other important aspects of business process management approach at computer games industry should include ownership clarification, performance measurement mechanisms and obviously the identification and activation of improvement opportunities. Author elects business processes customization, integration of flows between firm and its supply chain partners and superior user interfaces using specialized workflow tools as being three improvement opportunities at games industry. In addition to those components, three additional extra concepts are considered critical to have a complete understanding of BPM. They are the conscious process management, the macro process management and the centrality of process. This chapter is going to follow these vectors in order to understand possible opportunities powered by BPM to gain competitive advantages in computer game industry.

Patient safety and quality of health care services continue to be an issue within healthcare organizations. Quality improvement of healthcare processes at a systems level requires a shared language so the system is well understood across and between business areas. Business ontology provides the ability to create a shared language which can be used to integrate business process management (BPM) and business architecture (BA) concepts to identify, prioritize, and plan system wide improvement. The effective application of this comprehensive management approach has been demonstrated using medication management services within a publicly funded Canadian healthcare organization. This article illustrates how the foundational ontology developed by the Global University Alliance and the related Business Process Management Ontology (BPMO) can be used to facilitate the integration of BA and BPM concepts to improve quality of medication management. The development of business artefacts resulted in a prioritized list of improvement initiatives and an action plan to implement and monitor the initiatives. The integration of BPM and BA using an ontology in a healthcare setting yields improved services at the systems level.

Business Process Management (BPM) is considered as a management approach that primarily focuses on analyzing and continuously improving business processes. It has been a key strategy adapted by organizations to manage their businesses successfully along with information technology. In the past few decades BPM has been one of the promising research areas. This paper adds knowledge to the existing research by answering following questions: (1) what is the status of BPM research domain? And (2) what are the possible future research directions on BPM? A thematic review was conducted focusing a series of literature on BPM which have been published between 2001 and 2020. The findings highlight that the integration of BPM into new digital innovations, such as process mining, is essential for an effective and efficient organization. More research on BPM and IT management needs to be conducted to support this integration between BPM and digital innovations.

PurposeProcess-oriented organizations are compelled to be innovative and continuously implement changes to meet customer requirements and gain a competitive advantage in accordance with the business process management approach. In the digital age, organizations develop business process support systems using agile methods and introduce adaptation skills in order to support their core business. Seamlessly integrating both practices into a coherent and practically applicable solution supporting multi-scenario processes infallibly remains a challenge. The paper aims to discuss these issues.Design/methodology/approachThe workshops identifying the key issues in an international capital group that consolidates facility management companies, as well as a related research review, have fueled a two-cycled Canonical Action Research (CAR) study.FindingsThe paper extends the current understanding of IT-enabled agility, proposing an adaptively improved infrastructure with a catalog of digital options that facilitates the composition of multi-scenario business processes.Research limitations/implicationsThe CAR was limited to the members of management board and the managers constituting the focus groups. The agile business process management (ABPM) model proposed focuses on adding novel functionalities/building new processes, leaving functionality lifecycle out-of-scope. ABPM empirical validation is limited to a single business/technical case.Practical implicationsReal-life solution for supporting dynamic business processes was delivered, as rigid IT solutions do not support quick assembly of customized business processes with abundant number of scenarios. The infrastructure enables composition of customer-tailored services based on re-usable digital options directory as well as enhances business process discrepancies/software bugs detection, reducing the cost of maintaining IT infrastructure for entire customer portfolio. A number of issues resulting from building IT solutions within a series of isolated projects with no coherent overall development strategy are mitigated.Originality/valueThe ABPM acts as a reference model for focusing on developing critical functionalities and limiting resources consumed by redundant features.
