The article, based on the analysis of the existing methods for selection of constituent entities of the Russian Federation to be provided with federal support in modernization of the rolling stock of public urban passenger transport and introduction of intelligent transport systems within the framework of the national project «Safe and High-Quality Highways», highlights main approaches and principles used by the federal authorities as guidelines when making decision on the public state support of the activity planned by the regions in the field of urban transport development. The adequacy of these approaches is considered for cases when state support for public urban passenger transport should be provided on an emergency basis (in particular, under the conditions of a sharp decrease in passenger traffic and ticket revenue due to anti-epidemic measures), proposals are formulated to update these approaches.

Autonomous car travel planning is increasingly gaining attention from scientists and professionals, who are addressing the integration of autonomous cars into the general urban transportation system. Autonomous car travel planning depends on the transport system infrastructure, the dynamic data, and their quality. The efficient development of travel depends on the development level of the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and the Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). Today, most cities around the world are competing with each other to become the smartest cities possible, using and integrating the most advanced ITS and C-ITS that are available. It is clear that ITS and C-ITS are occupying an increasing share of urban transport infrastructure, so the complex challenges of ITS and C-ITS development will inevitably need to be addressed, in the near future, by integrating them into the overall urban transport system. With this in mind, the authors proposed three autonomous car travel development concepts that should become a conceptual tool in the development of ITS and C-ITS.

Modern telecommunications techniques allow for continuous transmission of information from vehicles to dispatch centres during the operation process. The information included in this transmission may contain diagnostic data that make it possible to monitor the state of responsible components of the vehicle construction. The article presents the issues related to the analysis of the vehicle operation process including information received with the use of a CAN bus. The model of the vehicle operation process was presented, and the diagnosis state was taken into account. The use of transport telematics systems and intelligent transport systems in transport allow for the rolling stock profiling at the next stage. Owing to the rolling stock profiling, operational databases powered by a telematics interface are created. This, in turn, will allow to carry out the operational application process along with further optimisation of the operation process.

The dynamic development of urban areas has created the need to adapt computer systems used to increased passenger traffic. Increasingly common phenomenon of congestion, contributed to intensify efforts to improve the efficiency of the control flows in agglomerations. For this purpose cities begin to use more and more modern-solving software to improve the functioning of public transport. The aim of the article is to assess and review of current solutions that can be successfully implemented in communication systems, cities in Poland. The publication is also intended to determine the prospects for the development of intelligent transport systems in the future as well as the effects resulting from their continued use.

Abstract Technologies that use transport telematics offer tools for strengthening urban transport systems. They rationalise the use of the existing infrastructure and transport management systems, increase their reliability and safety and improve the transport behaviour of residents, while reducing the operating costs of transport. The main reason for using Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) is the need to implement measures to reduce the negative effects of growing motorization and improve the quality of transport services in response to the fluctuating transport demand. The authors present ways to improve the reliability and safety of transport in the street network by using ITS solutions.

The object of research is urban transport in Krakow. The road users are drivers and passengers of combustion vehicles, rail vehicles, electric vehicles and those powered by muscle power, as well as pedestrians. Everyone has the right to use public roads, but under certain conditions. The city’s goal is to provide such infrastructure and enact laws that will enable them to co-exist. The Management Board of Municipal Infrastructure and Transport is tasked with providing such organization of traffic, including public transport, that the city will be passable and passengers’ requirements are met. The journeys should be smooth and without major disturbances. An innovative solution in the field of transport services in passenger traffic is the use of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

The article deals with the issues of innovative development of passenger transport through the introduction of IT technologies; intelligent transport systems in major cities of the world; the functions of the state in the creation and operation of intelligent transport systems. The article analyzes the legal framework of the Republic of Belarus, the state of information technologies in transport, and the need for their integration. A number of practical steps aimed at creating an intelligent transport system in Minsk are proposed.

The relevance of optimization of the Berezniki public transport route network is caused by an annual growth of city routes length, particularly, by the enlargement of bus routes and the uneven distribution of passenger traffic. The paper determines methods of optimization of public city passenger transport for the current transport demand. On the example of development of the Berezniki route network the authors have analysed the topology of routing and the city cartogram. On the basis of the study results they have proposed measures on the optimization of the route network for the public city transport. The novelty of the study is in the use of algorithms and methods of optimization of transport systems developed by the authors at conducting design and research works in the cities of the Russian Federation — Perm, Ekaterinburg, Samara, Kurgan, Yoshkar-Ola and Simferopol.

Background: It is proposed to use maglev transport as the basis for the development of the transport system of urban agglomerations. Its operation requires a special high-speed infrastructure, new rolling stock. The project for the construction and operation of the maglev transport line (MLT) St. Petersburg Sertolovo has an extremely long-term nature, significantly affects the development of urban high-speed transport, and therefore its implementation is possible only within the framework of strategic management of the development of urban transport systems. Aim: Commissioning of maglev transport lines in places of concentration of growing passenger traffic, which will help to reduce travel time, meet freight needs, improve the quality and increase travel safety when driving on dedicated lanes. Method: The article has developed proposals for the tariff policy on the maglev transport lines. Also, a forecast of passenger traffic on the MLT line was given, taking into account the recommended tariffs for collecting tolls, and the potential income of the project on the MLT line was determined. Results: The purpose of the introduction of this MLT line is to improve transport services and reduce the time spent on trips for the population of the city of Sertolovo by providing high-speed communications, improving the technical level of rolling stock and MLT stops, which significantly affects the comfort of passenger movement.
