The work is devoted to the consideration of the approach to effectiveness increase in socialeconomic system operation through the fuzzy model development for the supplier choice of commoditymaterial stocks in logistic companies. The problem urgency is conditioned on the system approach absence in the overwhelming majority of companies to the formation of procurement logistics strategy which makes difficulties in the process rapid management and charges efficient control. The theory of fuzzy sets is a methodological ba-sis of the work. The model developed has a practical value for the leadership of logistics companies.

The main goal of this research was the development of an algorithm for the implementation of negative risk parameters in a synthesis model for a risk level assessment for a specific machine used in the mining industry. Fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic theory, in combination with statistical methods, were applied to analyze the time picture state of the observed machine. Fuzzy logic is presented through fuzzy proposition and a fuzzy composition module. Using these tools, the symmetric position of the fuzzy sets with regard to class was used, and the symmetric fuzzy inference approach was used in an outcome calculation. The main benefit of the proposed model is being able to use numerical and linguistic data in a risk assessment model. The proposed risk assessment model, using fuzzy logic conclusions and min–max composition, was used on a mobile crushing machine. The results indicated that the risk level of the mobile crushing machine was in the “high” category, which means that it is necessary to introduce maintenance policies based on this high risk. The proposed risk assessment model is useful for any engineering system.

The article consideres the problems of determining the need to modernize the base stations of the cellular network based on the mathematical apparatus of the theory of fuzzy sets. To improve the quality of telecommunications services the operators should send significant funding for upgrading the equipment of base stations. Modernization can improve and extend the functions of base stations to provide cellular communication, increase the reliability of the base station in operation and the functionality of its individual elements, and reduce the cost of maintenance and repair when working on a cellular network. The complexity in collecting information about the equipment condition is determined by a large number of factors that affect its operation, as well as the imperfection of obtaining and processing the information received. For a comprehensive assessment of the need for modernization, it is necessary to take into account a number of indicators. In the structure of indicators of the need for modernization, there were introduced the parameters reflecting both the degree of aging and obsolescence(the technical gap and the backlog in connection with the emergence of new technologies and standards). In the process of a problem solving, the basic stages of decision-making on modernization have been allocated. Decision-making on the need for modernization is based not only on measuring information that takes into account the decision-makers, but also on linguistic and verbal information. Therefore, to determine the need for upgrading the base stations, the theory of fuzzy sets is used, with the help of which experts can be attracted to this issue. They will be able to formulate additional fuzzy judgments that help to take into account not only measuring characteristics, but also poorly formalized fuzzy information. To do this, the main indicators of the modernization need have been defined, and fuzzy estimates of the need for modernization for all indicators and a set of indicators reflecting the need for upgrading the base stations have been formulated.

PurposeThe purpose of this research is to focus on the evaluation of heritage buildings' sustainability. BIM modeling was necessary for the design of the sustainability assessment model for Heritage Buildings (SAHB). Using ArchiCAD®, energy simulations were performed for two case studies (Murabba Palace, Saudi Arabia, and Grey Nuns Building, Canada), and the developed model was validated through sensitivity analysis.Design/methodology/approachHeritage buildings (HBs) are unique and must be preserved for future generations. This article focuses on a sustainability assessment model and rating scale for heritage buildings in light of the need for their conservation. Regional variations were considered in the model development to identify critical attributes whose corresponding weights were then determined by fuzzy logic. Data was collected via questionnaires completed by Saudi Arabian and Canadian experts, and Fuzzy TOPSIS was also applied to eliminate the uncertainties present when human opinions are involved.FindingsResults showed that regional variations were sufficiently addressed through the multi-level weight consideration in the proposed model. Comparing the nine identified factors that affect the sustainability of HBs, energy and indoor environmental quality were of equal weight in both case studies.Originality/valueThis study will be helpful for the design of a globally applicable sustainability assessment model for HBs. It will also enable decision-makers to prepare maintenance plans for HBs.

Summary The theory of fuzzy sets allows to analyze insufficiently precise, accurate, complete phenomena which can not be modeled by the theory of probability or interval mathematics. We define fuzzy sets as sets where the boundary of the set is unclear and depends on subjective estimation or individual preference. In addition to the standard interpretation scale, described above, a set of numbers to each qualitative attribute must be assigned. First of all, it is necessary to determine the procedure for determining fuzzy numbers describing the attributes. One of the imperfections of the fuzzy sets is subjectivism when defining the boundaries of fuzzy sets and functions of belonging, which can significantly influence the final decision. The decision maker’s subjectivity is also present in the determination of weighted coefficients. However, in case of giving weight, fixed values are necessary. Some decisions require multidisciplinary knowledge, so the decision-making process includes more group decision-makers, who independently give their grades.

The article deals with the problems of analyzing multi-agent models of population dynamics. The problems studied are caused by a number of uncertainties associated with variables, boundary conditions, initial states, parameter values, etc. Given problems could be found in tasks associated with cyber security of critical infrastructures (e.g. DDoS attacks, computer worms, etc.). To solve this problem, a linguistic fuzzy model has been developed, which allows describing systems of population dynamics in a more realistic way. Population dynamics is described by a set of rules, each of which involves entry and exit in the form of fuzzy sets or fuzzy functions, which are applied iteratively. The complexity of describing the processes of population dynamics systems, the presence of fuzzification and defuzzification algorithms, and the use of fuzzy sets and linguistic variables make it necessary to develop new methods for analyzing such systems. The approaches proposed in the article to the study of systems of population dynamics make it possible to apply a unified description of processes of different nature in the form of a production set of rules.

This research aims to develop an early childhood character education assessment model. The research method used is the R & D model developed by Borg & Gall. The implementation of this model development was carried out in 6 stages, namely information gathering, planning, model development, initial product testing, product revision, and main field test. The instrument had developed by the procedure and criteria for item validity and instrument reliability. The first phase of the trial was conducted in Taman Indria Kindergarten, Pare District. The second phase of the trial was conducted at Tauladan Kindergarten and Dharma Wanita Pelem Kindergarten in Pare District. Data from the trial and main field tests were analyzed using factor analysis. The results of this study are as follows: 1) there are 18 character values with 65 indicators indicating that all indicators contribute effectively to the factors in each character value variable, 2) almost all indicators in each character value are strongly and significantly correlated with other indicators so that the assessment model that has been developed can assess all values of character education that have been taught for one semester, 3) according to the results of the questionnaire that has been analyzed it can be concluded that the use of early childhood character education assessment models is very effective to be applied in Kindergarten child. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah model R&D yang dikembangkan oleh Borg & Gall. Pelaksanaan pengembangan model ini dilakukan dalam 6 tahapan, yaitupengumpulan informasi, perencanaan, pengembangan model, uji produk awal, revisi produk, dan uji lapangan utama.Instrumen yang digunakan telah memenuhi syarat sebagai instrumen yang valid dan reliabel.Uji coba tahap pertama dilakukan di TK Taman Indria Kecamatan Pare. Uji coba tahap kedua dilakukan di TK Tauladan dan TK Dharma Wanita Pelem Kecamatan Pare. Data hasil uji coba dan uji lapangan utama dianalisis menggunakan analisis faktor. Hasil penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) terdapat 18 nilai karakter dengan 65 indikator yang  menunjukkan bahwa seluruh indikator memberikan sumbangan yang efektif terhadap faktor dalam variabel tiap-tiap nilai karakter, 2) hampir semua indikator pada tiap-tiap nilai karakter berkorelasi kuat dan signifikan dengan indikator yang lain sehingga model penilaian yang telah dikembangkan dapat menilai seluruh nilai pendidikan karakter yang telah diajarkan selama satu semester,3) sesuai hasil angket yang telah dianalisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan model penilaian pendidikan karakter anak usia dini sangat efektif untuk diterapkan di Taman Kanak-kanak. The article is devoted to the problem of  software selection. As a rule, this tasks are formalized as models of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM). The peculiarity of this problem is in the fact that the evaluation criteria , is generally defined by linguistic expert. This requires the use of special methods, in particularly, the theory of fuzzy sets. To solve the problem, an approach based on the  a fuzzy measure  was used . In general, a fuzzy measure allows one to take into account the effect of the mutual influence of criteria. The main difficulty lies in identifying this measure. The fuzzy Sugeno measure and  Sugeno integral were used. An example of solving the indicated problem is given.
