Wood utilization technology is needed to meet the increasing demand for wood. These technologies are such us LVL and WPC. To make this wood a structural material, size limitations are a problem in its application. To overcome size limitations, a connesction is required. The research was conducted to determine lateral resistance in composite LVL Sengon wood and WPC Teak wood. This research use a standart bolt connecting tool for composite of LVL Sengon wood and WPC Teak wood with a variations in the diameter of 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, and 12 mm using a double shear methode. This research was conducted at the Universitas Tidar and testing using UTM at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. Based on the results of the research, it was found that the value of lateral resistance testing on composite LVL Sengon and Teak WPC using standard bolts with variations in diameter 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, and 12 mm were 4150,37 N, 5761,74 N, 8258 ,37 N, and 12416,33 N. The greatest lateral resistance occurs when using bolts with a diameter of 12 mm. The melt mode that occurs in all specimens is the IIIs melt mode, namely the formation of two plastic hinges in the bolt connection and damage to the side wood.

LVL Sengon and concrete can be used to form a composite structure of the floor system. Connections between LVL Sengon and concrete on this composite floor system are the weakest part so that a majority of structural damages are concentrated at these joints. This study discusses the lateral resistance of lag screw joints in a composite system of LVL Sengon and precast concrete. The lateral joint resistance was evaluated through quasi-static loading upon double shear test specimens having two screws at every single shear. Variation of the specimens includes precast concrete compressive strength of 20.71 MPa and 25.29 MPa, screw diameter of 6 mm length 101.6 mm and 8 mm length 101.6 mm and 127 mm, and angle of lag screw axis against the wood fiber of 60° and 90°. The result shows that lateral resistance of the test is greater than that of EYM, SNI, and EC5 predictions. Joint failure in this experiment is due to failure in wood fiber along with the occurrence of one up to two plastic hinges in the screw.

An investigation of selected properties of teak wood from 9-year-old plantation in Indonesia. Teak (Tectona grandis L.f) listed in standard EN 13556:2003 (code TEGR) is known as the most popular species in tropical countries, especially in Indonesia. It has not only good qualities in physical properties and mechanical properties, but it also has an aesthetics pattern. The best teak wood is usually more than 80 years old. It is too long a period of time and cannot fulfil the current wood demand. To fulfil the increasing demand, researchers in Indonesia have developed short rotation teak wood. However, the quality of this wood is rather low. The objectives of this study were to obtain complete information about mechanical, physical and acoustic properties of 9-year-old teak wood, to compare its properties with conventional teak wood and to evaluate the optimal utilization of 9 years-old teak wood based on its properties.

Wood is most preferred structural material throughout the world and is considered as a complex biological composite with ubiquitous nature. Throughout the world there is an immense pressure on primary durable timbers due to their ever increasing demand. To reduce pressure on the primary species like; Teak, Sal and Deodar etc. one has to look for the other lesser known or secondary species as an alternative. Durability of these species can be enhanced with application of different preservatives and for this one of the best approach is to use herbal based ecofriendly preservatives rather than hazardous chemicals. In this study, the antifungal activity of Acorus calamus rhizome extract was tested on less durable local wood species. The results showed that average growth of Polyporus fungus on taken wood samples were retarded up to 69.44% after applying 2% concentration of rhizome extract and act as suitable bio-preservative for non durable wood species.

This paper contains the results of the field survey carried on the different sectors related to construction industry of steelwork in Sudan. The paper disclosed the effect of oil exploration and production in the increasing demand of structural steel. Structural steel gained considerable grounds as structural material due to its uncountable merits. Sudan is very rich with its mineral resources. Iron can be found in many locations all over the country. Governmental support to investment in iron mining is highly required in order to face the demand of development projects.

In past few years, Indonesian people have a lot of interest in traveling and other outdoor activities like hiking, camping, etc. People start to explore the beauty of Indonesia and it impacts to the increase in Indonesia tourism. This condition makes many people looking for stuffs to support their outdoor activities. This increasing demand stimulates many local companies produce outdoor gear and this market facing a tighter competition than before. The purpose of this research is to analyze the proper strategy for PT. XYZ in facing the market competition. Defining internal and external factors of the company are important in formulating the alternative strategies. Therefore, this research use descriptive qualitative method and using CPM Matrix, IFE Matrix, EFE Matrix, SWOT Matrix, IE Matrix, and QSPM to find out the suitable strategy which will help the company survive in market competition. In final result, the suitable strategy for PT. XYZ is developing the waterproof product (shoes and carrier) for tropical product.

The paper deals with reliability in ultimate limit state of timber structure bolted connections subjected to unequal double shear with thin plates as outer members and inner timber member. There are derived equations for calculation of the reliability of this connection type in the ultimate limit state.

In recent years, there has been increasing demand for higher voltage SEMs, in the field of surface observation, especially that of magnetic domains, dislocations, and electron channeling patterns by backscattered electron microscopy. On the other hand, the resolution of the CTEM has now reached 1 ∼ 2Å, and several reports have recently been made on the observation of atom images, indicating that the ultimate goal of morphological observation has beem nearly achieved.

A tongue pressure unit for measurement of lingual strength and patterns of tongue pressure is described. It consists of a force displacement transducer, a single channel, direct writing recording system, and a specially designed tongue pressure disk, head stabilizer, and pressure unit holder. Calibration with known weights indicated an essentially linear and consistent response. An evaluation of subject reliability in which 17 young adults were tested on two occasions revealed no significant difference in maximum pressure exerted during the two test trials. Suggestions for clinical and research use of the instrumentation are noted.

Abstract There is an increasing demand for qualified individuals available in our profession. One answer to this crisis is to hire trained speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs) to assist speech language pathologists (SLPs). Shoreline Community College's SLPA program was created in response to the shortage of fully trained SLPs. The program is designed in strict compliance with ASHA's guidelines (ASHA, 2004). Students attend lectures remotely, complete assigned reading, take quizzes, engage in in-class and online discussions, turn in assignments, and take exams without ever having to commute to the Shoreline campus. This allows students from across the state to complete their education while continuing to live and work in their communities.
