Uttarakhand State of India suffered a widespread devastation in June 2013 due to floods caused by excessive rain in the upper reaches of the Himalaya, glacial lake outburst flood (GLOF) and landslides. Restoration process in this mountainous State calls for scientifically sound planning so that the vulnerabilities and risks to such natural hazards are minimised and developmental processes are sustainable in long run. Towards this, an understanding of the patterns and major controls of damage of the recent disaster is a key requirement which can be achieved only if the primary data on locations and types of damage along with other local site conditions are available. Considering widespread damage, tough nature of terrain and the need for collecting the primary data on damage in shortest possible time, crowdsourcing approach was considered to be the most viable solution. Accordingly, a multiinstitutional initiative called "Map the Neighbourhood in Uttarakhand" (MANU) was conceptualised with the main objective of collecting primary data on damage through participation of local people (mainly students) using state-of-art tools and technologies of data collection and a mechanism to integrate the same with Bhuvan geo-portal (<a href="http://www.bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in" target="_blank">www.bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in</a>) in near real-time. Geospatial analysis of crowd-sourced points with different themes has been carried out subsequently for providing inputs to restoration planning and for future developmental activities. The present paper highlights the capacity building aspect in enabling the data collection process using crowdsourcing technology.

Purpose of the study: The present paper attempts to trace the development of the weaving industry in Sualkuchi in the Kamrup district of Assam and tries to understand the organizational structure of the Sualkuchi weaving Industry. The paper also tries to identify the avenues of silk products and their marketing. Methodology: In the present research work, an exploratory research design has been adopted. For the primary data, the respondents were selected using purposive sampling and were administered with an interview schedule. Secondary data are collected from Government reports, books, journals and so on. Main Findings: The products produced are mainly used for commercial purposes only. As the handloom industry of Sualkuchi is not thoroughly organized and marketing agencies are diverse, the majority of the weavers rely on middlemen to sell their finished products. A sense of professionalism among the weavers and artisans, creation of facilities for easy and quick marketing of hand-woven products is necessary. The unusual sudden price rise in yarn brings untold misery to the industry in the area as production is against advance orders at a predetermined price. There is a need to innovate designs to capture the global market. Applications: This research work can be used by students, academicians, policymakers and also government agencies for the upliftment and development of small scale industries. Novelty/Originality: The study provides new insight into the problem which might help in formulating policies and programs for the development of this industry, which is technically not always possible. Sociological insights must be made to the existing program for development.

Anomaly detection is an important issue in data science. The purpose of detection is to determine the system and stochastic violations of the signal structure, the regularity of repetition of characteristic sites, as well as the localization of artifacts of natural or artificial origin. These can be failures in the data collection process, sensor failure, or external unexpected events, such as an intentional violation of the microcontroller’s security. In addition, with the help of the proposed methods of anomaly detection, it is possible not only to analyze the security of devices, but also to determine the efficiency of the use of computing resources and check the operation of hardware modules. In General, the introduction of such methods is advisable at all stages of the life cycle of microprocessors and microcontrollers.

The idea behind this paper is to critically look at the methodological approaches applied to a research work titled ‘Assessment of Training Practices in the Ghana Police Service’. This paper specifically outlined the various methods used in the said research and their justifications. Some of the methodological issues raised in that study are research design, the study area, the target population, sampling techniques and their justifications, data collection instruments, sources of data, data collection procedures, data processing and data analysis and ethical considerations. The paper revealed that descriptive research design is good for the studying of police training practices because it gave a detailed description of the characteristics that was studied. The findings of the study revealed that the mixed method (embedded research design) approach was largely the best in conducting a study like this at the police training schools in Ghana by eliciting appropriate data from both primary and secondary sources and adopting both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Furthermore, it was revealed that questionnaire was the most appropriate data collection tool for interviewing police officers, trainees and trainers and the interview guide was the best data collection tool for interviewing key actors like the commandants and administrators of the police training schools. These two instruments produced the primary data for the study. Quantitative responses were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20.0 whereas the qualitative responses were transcribed and interpreted appropriately. The researcher strictly adhered to the principles of anonymity and confidentiality in order to protect respondents (quantitative) and participants (qualitative) of the research. In conclusion, all these methodologies followed in this research confirmed the complete validity and reliability of research findings and research instruments.

Malay building decoration components had been one of the essential elements in Traditional Malay Architecture. This study aims to look in-depth into the process of inputting the attributes data of “Papan Meleh” or roof eaves decoration in Baitul Rahmah building located in Kuala Kangsar using the HBIM application. The method of study for this paper involves three processes, which are the data collection, data process and data fusion. The findings in this study reveal that the data collection from Heritage study report is insufficient in describing the attributes of the roof eaves decoration. The data collection process involves the collection of primary data from the literature review, and secondary data from the heritage report. The secondary data have its limitation in describing the attributes of “Papan Meleh”. Thus, the data process phase is done to correlate the primary and secondary data in finding its generic attributes and remodelling the 2- Dimensional (2D) into 3-Dimensional (3D) model using the HBIM software. The attributes are divided into tangible and intangible data of “Papan Meleh”. After both 3D models of Papan Meleh and its generic attributes are done, both data are fused again through the HBIM software and a complete HBIM model is created.
