Experimental researches were carried out during the years 2012–2017 at the farm "Povit-Agro", Bila Tserkva region, Kyiv Oblast, as well as at other farms. 1390 Ukrainian mulards were bred during these 2 years. Throughout our researches the French mulard was presented with 2425 1-day-old hybrid ducklings. In addition, during the studies, the 1-day-old ducklings of different breeds were assessed, namely ducklings of a domestic duck – 7579 heads, ducklings of a musk duck – 1685 heads. A comparative analysis of the effeciency of modern methods for determining the sex of young ducks of two species and of interspecies hybrid is conducted. It has been found that the highest accuracy of duckling sex determination (100%) of all genotypes is provided by the universal Japanese method (ventsexing), and a specific method - colorsexing (based on genetic markers of down coloring). Sidorov's method (probing of resonator of males) allows to determine the sex of domestic (but not musk) and mullard ducklings with an accuracy of 94–98% at a sorting rate of 300 g/h. The anatomical method is absolutely accurate, but it is associated with young ducks slaughtering. Morphosexing is effective for ducklings of all studied genotypes starting from the 2-month age . Morphosexing is effective for ducklings starting from the 2-month old of all studied genotypes. Beginning from 60 days old, the sex of ducklings of a musk duck, as well as mulards, can be determined due to the color and size of skin folds around the upper part of the beak with an accuracy of 97–99%. For the 2-month old ducklings of a domestic duck, sexual dimorphism is clearly expressed according to the other two features. Males at this age already have two twisted feathers in their tails, and females, unlike males, can quack loudly.

Until lately gold ranked among the elementary substances of which the general properties had been well ascertained, but in regard to the atomic weights of which our knowledge was least satisfactory. That this constant should be determined as accurately as possible for gold was desirable in view of its bearing on the precise place assigned the metal in the “periodic” classification of the elements based on the ideas of Newlands, Odling, Mendelejeff, and L. Meyer. Furthermore, an exact know­ ledge of the atomic weight of gold might be conveniently applied in the determination of the atomic weights of some of the other elements. A practical laboratory reason for desiring to possess a trustworthy value for this constant was also presented by the facility with which gold compounds of many organic substances may be prepared, and the ease with which their composition may be ascertained by simple ignition in the air and weighing of the residual gold, the results leading to a knowledge of molecular composition when the atomic value of the weight of the metal obtained is assumed to be known. For the last three years and a half I have been occupied, during a large part of such time as has been available for original work, in devising and carrying out experiments aiming at the redetermination of the constant in question. The difficulties met with have been greater than were at first looked for, and have led to much time and labour being consumed in attempts to overcome them. About two years ago, when this work was already well under way but still in progress, there appeared the results of experiments aiming at the same end, by Kruss in Germany and by Thorpe and Laurie in England—experiments made with the care and accu­racy of modern methods, and apparently deserving of much confidence. My own work, however, was continued, as we cannot have too many careful independent determinations of atomic weights by different workers, and as I had used to a con­siderable extent other procesess than those on which the newly published determina­tions were based, while the chemists named had employed, in the main, one and the same method. A preliminary notice of my work was read in the Chemical Section of the British Association at the Manchester meeting of 1887. The details of my experiments and the results which I have reached are now laid before the Royal Society.

ABSTRACT The survival of the ρ+ factor and of DrugR mitochondrial genetic markers after exposure to ethidium bromide has been studied. A technique allowing the determination of DrugR genetic markers among a great number of both grande and petite colonies has been developed. The results have been analyzed by the target theory. The survival of the ρ+ factor is always less than the survival of any DrugR genetic marker. The survivals of CR and ER are similar to each other, while that of OR is greater than that of the other two DrugR markers. All possible combinations of DrugR markers have been found among the ρ- petite cells induced, while the only type found among the grande colonies is the preexisting one. The loss of the CR and ER genetic markers was found to be the most frequently concomitant, while the correlation between the loss of the OR marker and the other two DrugR markers is less strong. Similar results have been obtained after U.V. irradiation. Interpretations concerning the structure of the yeast mitochondrial genome are given and hypotheses on the mechanism of petite mutation discussed.

Тhe image of Turandot that has almost the greatest number of interpretations in a variety of genres, particularly, in opera, ushered in the masterpiece of G. Puccini. Still, rather little-known remain over ten of her opera forerunners among which a special place belongs to the opera of the king of verismo – the well-known violin virtuoso, composer, social-cultural figure, professor of Milano conservatoire Antonio Bazzini, in whose class G. Puccini was a student. His only opera ―Turanda‖ of 1867 became the subject of the study in this article whose objective is to outline the imagologeme of the cruel princess character in the interpretation of A. Bazzini. Using the imagologic methodologies oriented toward all-round outlining of the Other – particularly in the context of the oriental themes, the author proceeds from the comparative analysis that gives ground for determination of the common and distinctive traits in the interpretation of the heroine character in the context of the Italian and general European cultural paradigm. Created almost 100 years after Carlo Gozzi’s fiaba and 50 years before G. Puccini’s ―Turandot‖ A. Bazzini finds new unexpected dimensions of the work on such theme in the opera genre. Departing from the elements of commedia dell’arte that are the cornerstones in Gozzi’s favola, Bazzini, though staying in the sphere of the fairytale plot defines the genre of his opera as the ―Asian fantasy‖, gravitating despite the decorative-harem and state-imperial image of the Orient to the principles of the lyrical opera French models and looking at the lyrical drama of V. Bellini. The main lady character is the type of the femme fatale, who in the course of unwinding of the dramatic action acquires some sentimental traits, reinvents herself from the princess-killer to the loving lady. Bazzini’s eclecticism was manifested in the departure from the Chinese content and extension of the geocultural boundaries: the action takes place in Persia (Turandot’s ancestral homeland, whose combined prototype image is described in the poem of Nizami ―Seven Beauties‖), Prince Calaf becomes the Indian Prince Nadir, preserving the role of the lyrical-dramatic hero. Bazzinin refuses from the masks and instead brings in the new bright character – magician Ormut who represents the evil forces, for he is hopelessly in love with Turandot, inspires her to killings with the aid of sorcery. The exalted mystical-orgiastic scene of worshipping Ahriman is one of the best in the presentation of the spectacular-theatrical exotica. And though over a dozen of composers-romanticists attempted to adapt the character of Turandot, the heroine found her optimal embodiment in the aura of the high verism, one of the steps on the way to which can be regarded ―Turanda‖ of A. Bazzini.

The paper describes the determination of riboflavin and thiamine in the best-selling types of 13 raw and 8 commercial monofloral and multifloral honeys originating from Serbia. It was found that there is a difference in average riboflavin and thiamine content between raw and commercial honey, as well as between different honey floral varieties. The results showed that forest, meadow and oregano honey had a significantly higher content of both B vitamins compared to acacia, linden and lavender honey. On the other hand, a very low content of riboflavin and thiamine was found in honeydew honey. Among the commercial products, royal jelly was the richest in thiamine and riboflavin, followed by forest honey. In general, the quality of all of the commercial honey samples regarding these vitamins was lower than that of the raw domestic honeys.

The purpose of the article is to analyze the applicability of modern software for design-projecting of models of jewelry on the example of creation of a 3D model of a flat medallion; such process of creation includes the following steps: development of an algorithm; check for the errors; determination of the main characteristics. When conducting the researches, a set of general scientific approaches has been used, in particular: visual-analytical and system-informational approaches, modern methods of analysis of mechanical systems, as well as the method of classifications. The programs for three-dimensional modeling are listed; the peculiarities of their use and their functional possibilities are revealed. Based on the analysis of peculiarities of design-projecting of jewelry, the applicability of modern software is identified, in particular, the applicability of Rhinoceros 3D commercial software for three-dimensional NURBS-modeling. The development of engineering methods of designing of jewelry. The comparative analysis of programs for design-projecting of jewelry is performed. The proposed algorithm for creation of 3D model of a flat medallion using the Rhinoceros 3D software for three-dimensional NURBS-modeling is described. A standard algorithm for the creation of a 3D model of a flat medallion is developed. The recommendations regarding the use of Rhinoceros 3D software for three-dimensional NURBS-modeling in jewelry are made.

This paper provides the results of theoretical and experimental researches of head losses in industrial pipelines, which have technical coarseness. In the Nikuradzes researches values for frictional resistance coefficient were determined for artificial even-grained sandy roughness. The pipe-lines, which are used for water-supply in practice, have natural technical coarseness. The coarseness has different structure: it can have corrugated or saw-tooth surfaces and there can be also protective coat.The comparative analysis is provided for different methods of hydraulic losses calculations for head losses in pipe-lines for ringed water net. Recommendations for usage are also presented.

Domains in GaAs can exist which are related to one another by the inversion symmetry, i.e., the sites of gallium and arsenic in one domain are interchanged in the other domain. The boundary between these two different domains is known as an antiphase boundary [1], In the terminology used to describe grain boundaries, the grains on either side of this boundary can be regarded as being Σ=1-related. For the {110} interface plane, in particular, there are equal numbers of GaGa and As-As anti-site bonds across the interface. The equilibrium distance between two atoms of the same kind crossing the boundary is expected to be different from the length of normal GaAs bonds in the bulk. Therefore, the relative position of each grain on either side of an APB may be translated such that the boundary can have a lower energy situation. This translation does not affect the perfect Σ=1 coincidence site relationship. Such a lattice translation is expected for all high-angle grain boundaries as a way of relaxation of the boundary structure.

IntroductionA simple and accurate technique to determine the Burgers vector of a dislocation has become feasible with the advent of HVEM. The conventional image vanishing technique(1) using Bragg conditions with the diffraction vector perpendicular to the Burgers vector suffers from various drawbacks; The dislocation image appears even when the g.b = 0 criterion is satisfied, if the edge component of the dislocation is large. On the other hand, the image disappears for certain high order diffractions even when g.b ≠ 0. Furthermore, the determination of the magnitude of the Burgers vector is not easy with the criterion. Recent image simulation technique is free from the ambiguities but require too many parameters for the computation. The weak-beam “fringe counting” technique investigated in the present study is immune from the problems. Even the magnitude of the Burgers vector is determined from the number of the terminating thickness fringes at the exit of the dislocation in wedge shaped foil surfaces.

SummaryTwo quantitative procedures for autoprothrombin C are described. In one of these purified prothrombin is used as a substrate, and the activity of autoprothrombin C can be measured even if thrombin is in the preparation. In this procedure a reaction mixture is used wherein the thrombin titer which develops in 20 minutes is proportional to the autoprothrombin C in the reaction mixture. A unit is defined as the amount which will generate 70 units of thrombin in the standardized reaction mixture. In the other method thrombin interferes with the result, because a standard bovine plasma sample is recalcified and the clotting time is noted. Autoprothrombin C shortens the clotting time, and the extent of this is a quantitative measure of autoprothrombin C activity.
