This research-aims to investigate (the effectiveness of teaching SWOM strategy in achievement and second-graders intermediate students retention in the sciences subject) The experimental design (with-partial-control) was chosen for two equivalent groups, experimental and control, the sample was randomly selected-from-students (Hittin intermediate school( for girls in Thi-Qar Governorate), the groups were equivalent in-variables (Age calculated in months – female students’ achievement in-science for the first-grade (previous-year) –previous information testin science- subject – intelligence test (Raven), behavioral objectives in cognitive domain were set reached (100) behavioral objectives, the necessary teaching plans were prepared for two research. The research tools, the researcher prepared a test comprises (40) MC items with four alternatives. Validity, reliability, discrimination-coefficient, difficulty-and-alternatives effectiveness were calculated. At the end of second semester (2018-2019),the experiment was applied. After the experiment was completed, the achievement test was applied on two research groups. Then, the same achievement test was applied again after a two weeks period-from first application to check information retention, and for processing statistical data, the statistical methods were used (t-test for two independent samples, difficulty-equations, items-discrimination, wrong alternatives-effectiveness and Pearson-correlation-equation), the-research was reached the results: There is a statistical significant difference at the significance level (0.05) between second grade students means scores who study science subject according-to the SWOM strategy and the second-grade students mean-scores who study the-same subject by traditional method in achievement and retention test in favor of the experimental group, depend on the results, several conclusions were formulated, conclusions and recommendations-were reached, to complete th- research, several studies-were proposed.

This study was generally attempted to find the effect of ice breaking to increase students' motivation in English learning at the first grade of SMP Nurul Jadid.  This research used pre-experimental design by using one shot case study pre-test and post-test. Before the treatment, the researcher gave the pre-test in one class. Moreover, the researcher taught English by using ice breaking in the experimental class. The last, the researcher conducted the post-test to know whether an ice breaking was effective for teaching English in experimental class. Based on the data analysis, the data t-test (2.77) was higher than t-table value (2.042). The result analyzing showed that there was significant difference on the students’ motivation taught by using ice breaker. The students’ mean score of the pre-test of the experiment class was 60. Then, in the post-test, the mean score of experiment class was 66.1. Therefore, hypothesis H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. It concluded that ice breaking was effective in teaching English learning toward the students’ motivation for the first grade of SMP Nurul Jadid. Thus, this research make students be enjoy, be active, energize, feeling happiness, interactive in the classroom, stay in the class during learning process, and focus on the material.

The population of the study was the second year students of SMPN 9 Mataram, there are six classes and every class consist of 26 students’, so, the total number of the population were 180 students, and the researcher only took one class is VIII A, with consist of 26 students. This study is kind of pre-experimental in research designed pretest-posttest group, using a measurement technique in form of multiple choicesand semantic mapping which consist of 30 test items. Based on the data analysis the mean score of pre-test 39, qualifying “POOR” and mean score ofpost-test88 qualifying average to “GOOD”, and the result of t -test that is 45,6. Based on the distribution t-table with db=26, the research showed the distribution t-table was 99 % trust interval and level of significant 1%. And the result confirmed that the using of semantic mappingtechnique in teaching vocabulary at the eight class students is effective in increasing student’s vocabulary mastery.

This research applied pre-experimental research. The research aimed at finding out whether whisper and write game can increase students’ ability in understanding simple past tense or not. The population of this research was the second grade students of Informatics Department at Cokroaminoto Palopo University. The researcher used purposive sampling technique in determining the students as sample. The sample was class 2F which consisted of 35 students. The instrument of the research was written test. The result shows that the mean score of the posttest is higher than mean score pretest (71.31 > 44.51). Meanwhile, P-Value is 0.00 and α is 0.05. It shows that P-value is smaller than α (0.00 < 0.05). It means that null Hypothesis (H0) is rejected and alternative Hypothesis (H1) is accepted. So, there is significant difference between the result of pretest and posttest after giving the treatment in teaching simple past tense by using whisper and write game. It can be concluded that whisper and write game can increase students’ ability in understanding simple past tense.

Playing Say All Fast Minute Every Day Shuffled (SAFMEDS), a set of cards containing details in both sides of the cards, has successfully helped many training of fluency and vocabulary development abroad (Quigley (2004); Kubina, Yurich, Durica, & Healy (2015); Beverly, Huge, & Hastings (2016)). However, none of them conducted their researches in the context of vocative education, and focused on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) or English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Thus, by intentionally opening the chance of adapting and transforming SAFMEDS to be applied in vocational high school classroom, the researcher conducted this study to find out whether or not there was any significant difference between the use of SAFMEDS and wordlist in vocabulary learning of two hotel department classrooms, and what are the aspects of vocabulary that might be highly influenced by SAFMEDS itself. This study was conducted purposively in the second grade of hotel department of SMK Negeri 3 Luwuk in the first term of 2017/2018 academic year. An English vocabulary test was administered to collect quantitative data by focusing on playing SAFMEDS containing hotel department terminologies as the core material. Through quasi-experimental research design, the analysis of quantitative data showed that there was a significant difference between the mean score of the students who were learning vocabulary by using SAFMEDS and the mean score of the students who were learning vocabulary by using wordlist. As for the second research question, the researcher found that the aspect of vocabulary which was dominantly affected by the use of SAFMEDS was the aspect of vocabulary in term of form.
