Management in education institute entails working with and through teachers, non teaching staff and students to get things done effectively. A descriptive cross-sectional study design was used to find out the management of nursing education institutes in selected colleges at Kathmandu valley.  Data was collected in 2019 from 14 colleges. Sample size was 620, including 14 administrators, 229 faculties and 377 bachelor level final year nursing students. Ethical approval was taken from Nepal health research council. Self-administered structured questionnaire was used to collecting data and analysis was done in SPSS version 16.Keys factors were identified that may affect the management of nursing education institutes (NEI). All most all administrators agreed in all indicators. But there was different opinion on faculties and students.  Highest percent of faculties disagreed on visions, mission, staffs understood (70%), class schedule, clinical supervision and students’ teacher ratio, nursing leadership (17%) and resource availability. Fifteen percent students disagreed in functioning alumni, library facility, strategic plan and function of executive committee (36.1%), use of operation plan, lesson plan (22.3%), class schedule (16.4%), and facility of skill laboratory (9.1%), clinical supervision (27.6%) and proper students’ teacher ratio (36.3%). In quality assurance system majority of the facilities disagreed and all most all students undecided. Analysis of variations between group (administrators, faculties, students) found statistical significance (p-value <0.05). So it is concluded the perception of students, faculties and administrator were found different on management of the nursing education institutes.

Management is a process of planning, decision making, organizing, leading, motivating and controlling, and an effective utilization of the resources to reach the organizational goals efficiently and effectively. Management has a crucial role in quality of work and production in any institutions. Although a rapid increase of Nursing Education Institutions in Nepal since last decade which had been trained thousands of nursing cadres, the management aspects of these institutions are not studied adequately. Thus current study intended to explore the current status of Nursing Education Institution Management as experienced and perceived by the bachelors nursing students. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among the nursing institutions in Kathmandu valley. Of the total 28 in the valley, 14 were selected purposively. From the selected institutions, all 377 eligible students currently in final year of study were selected. Among them, 208were from BSN and 169 were from B Sc program.  The data was collected through the self administered structured questioners after taking informed consent. Data entry and analysis was done in SPSS version 16 software. The findings of the study show that 70% students were satisfied in institutional management (mean59.62, SD ± 3.66). In academic management (78%), (mean139.82, SD ± 6.22), followed by human resources 67%, (mean43.54, SD ± 2.79) and were in physical resources management 75% students were satisfied (mean45.02, SD ± 3.08). Analysis of variations between group (administrators, faculties, students) found statistical significance (p value <0.05). So it is concluded the perception of students, faculties and administrator were different on managing the nursing education.

La implementación de los cuidados paliativos en las universidades ha sido paulatina. Su reciente implantación requiere de su evaluación para la mejora en la formación de nuestros futuros profesionales. Por tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo es valorar el conocimiento en paliativos, en estudiantes de enfermería de la Universidad Jaume I, tras la implementación de un plan de estudios de enseñanza transversal y evaluación mediante una asignatura de carácter obligatorio. Método: Estudio observacional, de corte transversal, durante el curso académico 2017/2018 mediante la escala Palliative Care Quiz for Nursing. Análisis descriptivo, comparativo de las variables cuantitativas y cualitativas global y según aciertos/errores, significación estadística p-value <0,05.Resultados: La muestra de n=155, edad 22,21±6,61 años, con predominio del sexo femenino en el 80% (n=124). La esfera con mayor número de aciertos fue la relacionada con el control de dolor y los síntomas 69,1% y la esfera con más fallos la relacionada con la filosofía y los principios 46,9%. El conocimiento en paliativos viene explicado en un 16% por el curso académico y con la experiencia previa en paliativos. Conclusiones: Mediante nuestros resultados observamos, que la educación en paliativos desarrollada de forma transversal con la culminación de una asignatura obligatoria en cuarto curso, resulta ser efectiva en estudiantes de enfermería, donde el 63% ostentó una buena tasa de aciertos en conocimientos de paliativos.   The inclusion of palliative care content in university curricula has been gradual. Due to the recent incorporation of palliative care as a subject, an evaluation is necessary in order improve the education of our future health professionals. The objective of this study was thus to assess palliative care knowledge in nursing students at Jaume I University after the transversal inclusion of palliative care content throughout the program, culminating in a subject of an obligatory nature. Method: This observational cross-sectional study was undertaken over the 2017/2018 academic year using the Palliative Care Quiz for Nursing. A descriptive and comparative analysis of the quantitative and qualitative global variables was performed with respect to correct/incorrect responses. Statistical significance was set at p <0.05.Results: The sample included 155 participants, with a mean age of 22.21±6.61 years. Females (n=124) were predominant in the sample (80%). The domain which received the highest number of correct responses was related to the control of pain and symptoms (69.1%) and the domain which received the highest number of incorrect responses was related to philosophy and principles (46.9%). Academic year and prior palliative care experience explained 16% of the variance in knowledge. Conclusions: Through our results, we observed that palliative care education, implemented in a transversal manner and with the completion of compulsory subject in the fourth year, was effective in nursing students, with 63% achieving good scores with respect to palliative care knowledge.

ABSTRAK Pendahuluan: Sikap caring adalah salah satu identitas profesi keperawatan yang berusaha ditanamkan oleh institusi pendidikan keperawatan melalui proses sosialisasi profesi. Namun, pada kenyataannya ditemukan sikap mahasiswa yang tidak menunjukkan sikap caring. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari tahu ada atau tidaknya hubungan antara sosialisasi profesi dengan sikap caring mahasiswa. Landasan teori yang dipakai adalah model sosialisasi profesi Hinshaw dan Theory of Caring Swanson. Metode: Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuantitatif, menggunakan pendekatan cross sectional. Populasi penelitian ini adalah 45 mahasiswa angkatan 2011 Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan Universitas x. Sample diambil menggunakan teknik total sampling. Data diolah dan dianalisis menggunakan chi-square. Hasil: Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian menunjukan nilai signifikansi hubungan sosialisasi profesi dengan sikap caring sebesar 0,019. Uji korelasi sosialisasi profesi dengan setiap kategori caring Swanson menunjukkan hubungan dua sub variabel caring yaitu “knowing” (p value = 0,001) dan “being with” (p value = 0,04) sebagai dua komponen yang sangat dipengaruhi oleh proses sosialisasi profesi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang signifikan antara sosialisasi profesi dengan sikap caring mahasiswa. Diskusi: Penelitian ini merekomendasikan agar penelitian selanjutnya dapat mengobservasi perilaku caring mahasiswa sehingga hasil yang didapatkan lebih akurat. Kata Kunci : Sosialisasi Profesi, Sikap Caring, Pendidikan Keperawatan  ABSTRACT Introduction : Caring attitude is one of the professional identity that is tried to be internalized by the nursing education institution through professional socialization process. The process begin since the students entering the faculty and improving as the time goes by. However, in reality, there are students who do not show caring attitude. The aim of this study was to find out if there is a correlation between professional socialization and caring attitude. Theoretical basis used is a model professional socialization Hinshaw and Swanson’s Caring theory. Method: The study used quantitative method with cross-sectional design. The population was 45 batch 2011 nursing students of Faculty of Nursing, University of x, using total sampling technique. The data analyzed using chi-square. Result: The significancy result of the correlation test between professional socialization and caring attitude is 0,019. The study also found that two sub variables of caring that are correlated with professional socialization are “knowing” (p value= 0,001) and “being with” (p value = 0,04). The results of this study indicate that there is significant relationship between professional socialization and sudent’s caring attitude. Discussion: This research recommends that further research can observe nursing student’s caring behavior in order to obtain more accurate results. Context: Nursing informatics is an important quality resource for patient care, which in effect promotes, enhances, and increases the organization's growth and influences the innovativeness level of the individuals. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between nursing informatics competency and innovativeness among qualified nurses. Methods: Descriptive correlational cross-sectional study design used to conduct this study on all units (57 units) at Benha University Hospital, Egypt.  A Convenience sample of all available (223) qualified nurses working at Banha University Hospital Nursing informatics competency assessment tool and individual innovativeness (II) questionnaire. Results: 28% of the participants rated themselves as experts in the nursing informatics competency. While 40% and 22% were early adopters and innovators respectively regarding the total level of individual innovativeness. There was a positive, highly statistically significant correlation between the overall score of informatics competency and individual innovativeness for qualified nurses (r= 0.263, p-value = 0.000). A highly statistically significant relationship also detected between the demographic variables in the study and both informatics competency and individual innovativeness for qualified nurses.   Conclusion: A positive, highly statistically significant correlation evidenced between the overall score of informatics competency and individual innovativeness for qualified nurses. In order to prepare nursing students to meet the ever-changing technical needs of patients, computer and information skills should be integrated into the nursing curriculum. Also, nursing education programs should utilize educational methods that encourage innovativeness among their students.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Occupational Health Nursing (OHN) is very important to be studied by nursing students considering the industial demands are very high on the importance of the health of workers in the future. The problem is they don't get proportional insights to OHN. This needs evidence of its effect on nurses’ work productivity. Objective: The objective is to compare the level of work productivity between nurses who have the OHN insight with those without it, working in the industrial setting. Method: The method is Comparative Study with Cross Sectional Study Design with nursing students, nurses and Indonesian nurses working abroad as the populations. The sampling technique is non-probability sampling with a total sample of 130 respondents. The data collection tool uses a questionnaire and Likert Scale, compiled based on the Health Belief Model Theory (HBM). The data were analyzed by the Paired Sample T-test to see the differences between nurses who had received OHN subject and those who had never. Result: The results show significant differences on level of understanding between nurses who have received subject material about OHN with those who have never had it, with a p-value of 0,000. Discussion: Significant productivity differences between nurses who have received lecture material about OHN and those who did not, which can be used as criticism or input for nursing education in Indonesia.

                The evolution of information technology has exerted great influence on nursing education via new pedagogy of knowledge delivery without time and place restriction. Mobile technology revolutionises nursing education and clinical practice via empowering skills of critical thinking and clinical decision-making through learning. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of using mobile messenger (Whatsapp) as an educational supporting tool among nursing students. The study design used is a Cluster Randomized Control Trail. Two nursing colleges were selected. Sample size was 93 participants, 48 from the Kuala Terengganu Nursing College Kuala Terengganu as the intervention group while the control group were recruited among 45 participants from UniSZA Nursing College. There is a significant difference in the level of knowledge between pre and posttest among intervention group (mean difference was -8.70 with a standard deviation 8.42, p-value< 0.001) and 93.8 percent of the respondents perceived the usefulness of using WhatsApp mobile messenger to enhance learning. This demonstrates that learning through mobile messenger (WhatsApp) enhances learning and is well received as a new method of learning by almost all students.   Keywords: Mobile learning, WhatsApp messenger, Social Interaction

BACKGROUND Radiology now plays a major role to diagnose, monitoring, and management of several diseases; numerous diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures involve exposure to ionizing radiation. Radiology now plays a major role to diagnose, monitoring, and management of several diseases; numerous diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures involve exposure to ionizing radiation. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to discover and compare the awareness level of radiation doses, protection issues, and risks among radiology staff in Jeddah hospitals. METHODS A cross-sectional survey containing 25 questions on personal information and various aspects of radiation exposure doses and risks was designed using an online survey tool and the link was emailed to all radiology staff in eight tertiary hospitals in Jeddah. The authors were excluded from the study. A P-value of < .05 was used to identify statistical significance. All analyses were performed using SPSS, version 21. RESULTS Out of 156 participants the majority 151 (96.8%) had poor knowledge score, where the mean scores were 2.4±1.3 for doses knowledge, 2.1±1.1for cancer risks knowledge, 2.3±0.6 for general information, and 6.7±1.9 for the total score. Only 34.6% of the participants were aware of the dosage of a single-view chest x-ray, and 9.0% chose the right answer for the approximate effective dose received by a patient in a two-view. 42.9% were able to know the correct dose of CT abdomen single phase. There is a significant underestimation of cancer risk of CT studies especially for CT abdomen where only 23.7% knew the right risk. A p-value of <0.05 was used to identify statistical significance. No significant difference of knowledge score was detected regarding gender (P =.2) or work position (P=.66). CONCLUSIONS Our survey results show considerable inadequate knowledge in all groups without exception. We recommended a conscientious effort to deliver more solid education and obtain more knowledge in these matters and providing periodic training courses to teach how to minimize the dose of radiation and to avoid risk related. Background: Overweight/obesity has become a global health problem for both developed and developing regions. Nowadays, overweight/obesity among childrearing-age women has become rapidly increasing in both urban and rural areas. Aim: This study aimed to assess the variation of overweight/obesity among urban and rural reproductive-age women in Ethiopia. Methods: For this study, the 2016 Ethiopia Demographic and Health Survey data were used. The survey was a community-based cross-sectional study, which used a two-stage stratified cluster sampling technique to select the participants. A total of 13,451 reproductive-age women were included in the analysis. Both descriptive and analytical analysis was performed. A p-value of less than 0.05 was used as the measure of statistical significance. Results: The prevalence of overweight/obesity among urban reproductive-age women was statistically higher ( p = 21.5%; 95% confidence interval (CI): 18.2–25.1) than the rural women ( p = 3.5%; 95% CI: 2.9%–4.2%). Women who attend secondary or above education, women in the age groups 25–34 and ≥ 35 years, and high wealth index (rich) had higher odds of overweight/obesity in both urban and rural women. Moreover, women who were married, who had a large family size, and who have a history of alcohol intake had higher odds of overweight/obesity among urban women. Conclusions: Overweight/obesity among reproductive-age women is a public health problem in Ethiopia, especially for women who are living in urban settings. Therefore, it is important to establish targeted overweight reduction programs with particular emphasis on urban, older aged, educated, and married women. Additionally, encouraging the limitation of the number of family size and alcohol intake can reduce women’s overweight/obesity.

Academic procrastination is one of the postponement behaviors in lecture activities that are often found in students, in this study respondents experiencees a high level of procrastination that could hamper academic activities. One of the causes of procrastination is the use of gadgets that are too long to play games, music, entertainment and so on. Goals : The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between the use of gadgets and academic procrastination onNursing Students level II Saint Elisabeth Medan 2019. Method : The study design is Cross Sectional. Total sampling technique sample are112 students. The measuring instrument used is a questionnaire. Result : The results shows that the majority of use of positive gadgets (92.9%) and moderate academic procrastination (63.4%). Based on the Fisher's Exact Test, it obtained p-value 0.026 (p <0.05), thus indicating a relationship between the use of gadgets and academic procrastination on nursing students level II STIKes Saint Elisabeth Medan. Conculsion: It is expected that respondents will be able to manage time well and not use gadgets for a long time for things that are not useful. Respondent s are expected to use gadgets for things that can support learning activities.

AbstractObjectiveCritical nutrition literacy (CNL), as an increasingly important area in public health nutrition, can be defined as the ability to critically analyse nutrition information, increase awareness and participate in action to address barriers to healthy eating behaviours. Far too little attention has been paid to establishing valid instruments for measuring CNL. The aim of the present study was to assess the appropriateness of utilizing the latent scales of a newly developed instrument assessing nursing students’ ‘engagement in dietary habits’ (the ‘engagement’ scale) and their level of ‘taking a critical stance towards nutrition claims and their sources’ (the ‘claims’ scale).DesignData were gathered by distributing a nineteen-item paper-and-pencil self-report questionnaire to university colleges offering nursing education. The study had a cross-sectional design using Rasch analysis. Data management and analysis were performed using the software packages RUMM2030 and SPSS version 20.SettingSchool personnel handed out the questionnaires.SubjectsFour hundred and seventy-three students at ten university colleges across Norway responded (52 % response rate).ResultsDisordered thresholds were rescored, an under-discriminating item was discarded and one item showing uniform differential item functioning was split. The assumption of item locations being differentiated by stages was strengthened. The analyses demonstrated possible dimension violations of local independence in the ‘claims’ scale data and the ‘engagement’ scale could have been better targeted.ConclusionsThe study demonstrates the usefulness of Rasch analysis in assessing the psychometric properties of scales developed to measure CNL. Qualitative research designs could further improve our understanding of CNL scales.
