EMPLOYING MULTIMEDIA-BASED LEARNING TO IMPROVE ENGLISH SPEAKING SKILLS

Regarding language learning today, everyone is increasingly awarded that traditional language teaching is no longer effective in supporting students need. Learning speaking skills in the classroom carry out by the lecturers are still using traditional methods conducting learning in the classroom using whiteboards, markers, and other manual tools. Meanwhile, in the current global era, multimedia based learning is a demand along with the development of technology. Therefore, this article elaborates the mechanism of multimedia used in learning speaking skills. The type of research was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with the subject were the second semester students of The University of Qomaruddin Gresik. This Classroom Action Research process was taken in two cycles with 4 procedure; planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The result of the cycle one shown that 10 students or 50% of 20 students spoke English too slow and repeated the same sentence many times so the listener could not understand the meaning, so their speaking skill were in poor level. Meanwhile, 50% or 10 the rest of the students got good level. Since the result of the cycle one was below the target, so the researcher continued to conduct the second cycle. After the second cycles were conducted, the result shown that 25% students was in good level, and 75% students were in very good level. After the second cycle was conducted, finally the level of the students’ speaking skill was increasing, so the researcher ended the research.

This Collaborative Classroom Action Research aimed at enhancing students’ speaking skill through the application of Circle Game. It was conducted in one cycle consisting of two meetings. The subject was the seventh of C class of SMPN 2 Alas Barat consisting of 22 students. The types of data were qualitative (acquiring observation during the learning process) and quantitative (speaking tests). The results qualitatively showed that the implementation of Circle Game enhanced the students’ speaking skills. Such improvement could be seen from their enthusiasm, their interesting feeling in various materials presented by the teacher, their active involvement. In the quantitative findings, the result also showed a higher value of the mean score of the post-test (77.34) rather than the pre-test (75.75). In conclusion, the use of Circle Game can improve students’ speaking skill.

<p>Result of initial observation at SDN 18 Batang Anai Kabupaten Padang Pariaman indicated that 1st grade students were afraid and shy to speak in front of class. It was caused the language learning only emphasized on reading and writing skills. Speaking skill was still not being a main focus. This is a classroom action research aimed to improve students’ speaking skill. Data were colected by using test and observation. In cycle I, percentage of students’ speaking skill mean score is 53,3%. In cycle II, percentage of students’ speaking skill mean score is 86%. Hence, learning with media of picture-series can improve students’ speaking skill. </p>

This study aimed to investigate the implementation of Webquest in a blended EFL (English as Foreign Language) learning context and the students’ speaking skills improvement dealing with it. A number of 21 students were involved in the classroom action research designed. This classroom action research focused on two pedagogical issues of the methodology as well as the students’ improvement of their speaking skills. The lesson plan including the test instruments was prepared in line with the proposed teaching model. To begin, the observation supported with field notes was executed to describe the teaching and learning process. We played the role of passive participant in this period. Subsequently, the students’ speaking skills were evaluated through oral test in which the results of pre-cycle test as well as after-cycles were analyzed using t-test. We found that there was a significant improvement on the students’ speaking skills in term of pronunciation, intonation, fluency, grammar and vocabulary within two cycles of action research. Thus, the implementation of Webquest as media in blended learning was successful to improve the students’ speaking skills.

Learning Indonesian is directed to improve the ability of learners in communicating orally and in writing. Theability to communicate well and correctly is in accordance with the context of time, purpose and atmospherewhen communication is held. This research is a classroom action research by taking data on daily test I anddaily test II with assessment of three aspects, namely speaking intonation, pronunciation, and voice clarity.From the research result, the use of look and speech method was able to improve the speaking skill of children inclass I SDN 005 Koto Sentajo with very high category on daily test I with the number of students two peopleincreased to five people. In the high category of the number of eight students in the daily test II increased in thedaily test II with a total of seven students, while in the ample category in repeat I with the number of studentsfour people increased to two students in Repeat II. With an overview of the research data, the use of the methodcan be seen as effective in improving students' speaking skills in primary schools.

This research focuses on the use of the Snake and Ladder Board Game in teaching speaking to the tenth grade students at SMA Kristen Mercusuar Kupang. This research aims at finding out the appropriate way of teaching speaking by using snake and ladder board game for students in the tenth grade students at SMA Kristen Mercusuar Kupang..This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR). The subject of the research is the tenth grade students at SMA Kristen Mercusuar Kupang.. The procedure of the research applied two cycles namely cycle I and cycle II.  Every single cycle had fourth steps namely planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The result of this research shown that there were significant developments on students speaking skill at the tenth grade students at SMA Kristen Mercusuar Kupang after conducting the treatments through snake and ladder board game. In which the score of a cycle 1 am 43,06 and the score of cycle II is 71,88. It means that the snake and ladder board game is an appropriate way to improve the students` speaking skills. In addition, the researcher found the result of the observation that almost all of the students gave positive responses, such as they gave attention seriously in learning process, they had been more active than before, make them happy and  enjoy the  class,  and  of  course  they could  improve  their  speaking toward snake and ladder board game in improving speaking skill

This article was to improve the students’ speaking skill at the eleventh grade at sate senior high school 10 Bandar Lampung through Hassle Lines Strategy. Classroom Action Research was used in this method, with the sample of twenty six students that consist of 8 male and 18 female.In cycle of Hassle Lines Strategy, 81% the students prepare the conversation actively, 92% students practice orally, 65% students can mention the body language, and 85% students share to the teacher. From questionnaire, the researcher got the data Hassle Lines Strategy implementing was 91% of student agree and 9% of student disagree, the positive respond accomplished. The background of this study was that students were still weak in correct speaking, and students were inconsistent in pronouncing a vocabulary. This study aims to improve the speaking skills of students learning English through the use of invitation learning media for class VIII.A students of SMP Negeri 3 Muara Bungo. This type of research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles. The results showed that the use of invitation learning media (invitation) could improve students' speaking skills with an average speaking skill of students learning English in the first cycle was 66 and the second cycle was 78

This study is about the effectiveness of scaffolding method on students’ speaking achievement, and it is aimed to know effectiveness of scaffording method on students’ speaking skill. It was done at Universitas Kristen Indonesia on students’ speaking class of batch 2017. The method of the study is classroom action research, which was carried out within 2 cycles. The instrument of the study used was test sheet and observation sheet and the data taken using the instruments were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The result of the study shows that scaffolding method is effective on improving students’ speaking achievement. ding can improve students' speaking skills. It is concluded that scaffolding method is a good method to be implemented at speaking class, and the lecturers are suggested to use scaffolding method when teaching speaking in the classroom.

The purpose of this study was to improve students' speaking skills through the learning model Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) in class XI students in the odd semester of Dwijendra Gianyar High School in the academic year 2016/2017. Based on the results of classroom action research that has been carried out in two cycles with the use of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) learning model in Indonesian language learning, it can be concluded that there was an increase in speaking skills in class XI students of the Dwijendra Gianyar high school after learning with the use of models learning Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). This can be seen from the results of tests of students' speaking skills that are increasing in each cycle, namely the average value of observations in the first cycle 75.22 and increased to 83.85 in the second cycle. And seen from the results of the speaking skills test in the first cycle it was known that 14 of 27 students had reached the KKM score (75), and increased in the second cycle where 27 of 27 students had succeeded in achieving the KKM score (75). Based on the results of classroom action research using these two cycles, it turns out that the formulated hypothesis is proven to be true meaning it turns out the learning model steps Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) can improve speaking skills in class XI students in the odd semester of Dwijendra Gianyar High School 2016/2017.

This present study was a classroom action research which was conducted to overcome the students’ problem in mastering speaking skill by implementing Three- Step Interview. The subject of this study was the first semester students of Bali Widya Kusuma Hotel School. There were two cycles in which every cycle consisted of two sessions. The research was started by administering the initial reflection. In accordance to the main objective of this study, the initial reflection was intended to establish the real pre existing speaking skill mastery of the subjects under study in English. Based on the result of the pre-test which was carried out in the pre-cycle, showed that the subjects’ skill in speaking was categorized as insufficient, which was 54.48. From the technique implemented, there was significant improvement from the subjects’ skill in speaking, in which it improved from insufficient to good, which was 68.09 in cycle I and 76,29 in cycle II. This research furthermore showed there was changing learning behavior as the result of the positive responses concerning the technique applied in improving the subjects’ speaking skills. To sum up, the present clasroom action study proved that the implementation of three-step interview could improve speaking skill in the first semester students of Bali Widya Kusuma Hotel School.
