The experience of the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has caused education to be carried out through distance learning. Due to this situation, flute instructors faced many difficulties in instrument training, which had to be done remotely in professional music education institutions. A research was conducted to determine the training and examination processes of the instructors for flute education, their experiences, readiness for online education, negativities, and solutions during the pandemic process. Convergent parallel design, one of the mixed research methods, was used in the study. The study group consists of 22 flute instructors who work in different professional music education institutions in Turkey. An open- and close-ended questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. It was revealed that flute instructors conducted classes in different ways during the pandemic, they had to make their evaluations mostly individually, and they had many difficulties due to the internet and the applications used. As a result of the research in order for online flute training to be more effective, it was recommended that both instructor communication be more active and trainers receive training that will contribute to their professional development in online education. The aim of this research is to determine the reasons for academic jealousy experienced in universities and to reveal possible solutions to reduce academic jealousy. This research has been carried out in the framework of the qualitative research approach. The study group of this research consists of 8 academicians working at xxx University for the 2020-2021 education year. A semi-structured interview form has been used as a data collection tool in the research. Academicians’ perceptions of academic jealousy are defined under two headings as individual jealousy and institutional jealousy. The participants’ thoughts on the causes of academic jealousy are incompetence, inner failure, competition, and personal reasons. To reduce academic jealousy, the participants have offered the following solutions: policy-science culture, encouragement-cooperation, primary school education, competence, and sanction. The researchers have concluded that unless academic jealousy ends up or reduce, universities will lose high-quality academicians as time goes by.

The objective of this study is to explore and interpret Kurt Schwitters’ outside-the-surface Merzbau works in terms of form-meaning relationship. The study was carried on according to hermeneutic model. Documents were used as data collection tool. The study group consists of Merzbau works by Kurt Schwitters. It has been found out by the data obtained that the Merzbau works the artist made in Hannover, Germany and Norway were destroyed, and that his work in England, which he started making in 1947, is his only Merzbau work that survives until today. In the study, analyses were made based on the photographs left from the works and correlations were made with other artists’ works produced at the time. It has been observed that Schwitters composed his works by assembling trashes and found objects to which he assigned his own meaning. It has been seen that this resembles Cabinet of Curiosities in Renaissance. By placing his Merz works on a space, Schwitters transformed them into installations. Therefore, it has been found out that there is a connection between V. Tatlin’s corner counter-reliefs and his transforming the object into an artwork by isolating its worldly task. It has also been observed that the artist influenced Art Povera with the materials he used. It has been stated that throughout his lifetime, some additions could be made on Merzbau works that he created on the basis of concepts such as limitlessness-irregularity-infinity, and therefore, the endpoint of his works can be related to his moment of death. The study aims to determine and evaluate elite student athletes' attitudes toward puritan and hedonist work ethics. The study group consisted of 729 athletes at university and high school levels (female n = 276, male n = 453). "From Puritanism to Hedonism: New Ethics of Working Questionnaire (PH-NEWQ)” was used as the study's data collection tool. According to the study findings, elite student athletes generally adopted puritan work ethics rather than hedonistic tendencies. In this sense, national athletes and team athletes had puritan work ethics. However, female athletes and individual athletes had a hedonistic mindset. Thus, it is recommended to plan the educational lives of elite athletes by considering the puritan values in elite sports.

The purpose of this research is to examine the behaviors of Adanaspor’s and Adana Demirspor’s supporters relevant to fanaticism, and to reveal factors causing partisanship and identification levels of partisanship with psycho-social aspects in the context of football fanaticism and supporter identity. The model of this study is screening. 160 supporters in total, as being 80 Adanaspor’s supporters and 80 Adana Demirspor’s supporters, are constituting the study group. In this study, Football Supporters Fanaticism Scale developed by Taşmektepli et al. (2014) has been used as data collection tool. The analysis of data has been performed by SPSS 22 packaged software. First, percentage and frequency analysis have been performed for age, educational background and profession information of each participant, and distribution (Sample K-S) and homogeneity (ANOVA) analyses have been performed in the determination of difference. As per the results of the research, while they are definitely agreeing with the judgments of “I get very angry at the comments of the speaker during live broadcasts which are against the team”, “I go to the stadium for watching my team’s matches”, “I go to the match with clothing and materials indicating the symbols of my team”, “I join all the cheering at the stadium”, “I try to make the individuals or children—who don’t support a team—the supporters of my team”, they are definitely not agreeing with the judgments of “I may throw foreign bodies to field when I get angry during the match”, “My team should try all the means including exceptions in order to win the match”, “I may sometimes enter the field if the game has gone off the rails”. The comparison of the teams that the supporters support and of their fanaticism attitudes has been made, and significant difference has been determined in favor of Adanaspor in the judgments of “I get very angry at the comments of the speaker during live broadcasts which are against the team” and “I go to the match with clothing and materials indicating the symbols of my team”.

The aim of this research is to reveal academics’ awareness, attitude, and use of open access. In line with the research purpose, the survey research design is adopted. This research consists 151 academics from 12 basic research areas; eight of them being Professor Dr, 17 being Associate Professor Dr, 49 being Doctor Lecturer, and 77 being Research Assistant or Lecturer. A questionnaire consisting of 19 open access and five demographic information questions was used for the data collection tool. The research results show that 75% of the academics have open access awareness and that their awareness is generally created by information that they obtain through the Internet and their friends. In addition, most of the academics indicate that their awareness of open access has increased during the pandemic period. When considering the level of academics’ use of open access, it is found that 75% of the academics use articles in open access journals for their own research and 51% of the academics do not publish any articles in open access journals.

The objective of this research is to present the relation between employment hope levels and emotional expressivity levels of music teacher candidates. A total of 226 music teacher candidates studying Music Education in Faculties of Fine Arts in Marmara University, Trakya University, Karadeniz Technical University and Necmettin Erbakan University in 2015-2016 academic year constituted the study group of the research. Employment Hope Scale, Berkeley Expressivity Scale and Personal Information Form were used as data collection tool. Data acquired through these scales were analyzed through Pearson’s Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. In this study, a significantly relation was found between employment hope levels and emotional expressivity levels of music teacher candidates.

This study investigated the attitudes and perceptions of 5th grade students in terms of reading. The study group consists of 10 participants, 6 girls and 4 boys, attending the 5th grade of a public school. This research is a qualitative study with a descriptive phenomenology design. As a data collection tool, the students' drawings and face to face interviews with the students were used. At the stage of collecting the data, the students were asked the question “Can you draw a picture that reflects your thinking about reading?” Afterwards, face-to-face interviews were made to explain their drawings. The students' attitudes and perceptions about reading were examined through paintings and face-to-face interviews. A total of 3 different themes were created. It is seen that “Dream World” theme is the most drawn with 4 paintings among these themes. According to the results obtained, it is seen that all the students in the study group have a positive perception towards reading.

The purpose of this study is to determine the needs for a mobile application which will be developed so that the problems faced by academics in intra-faculty communication can be solved and their professional development can be supported. A questionnaire form consisting of two sections was used by researchers as a data collection tool of the study. Frequency analysis was conducted on the data obtained from the academics who were included in the study. At the end of the study, it was concluded that academics experienced problems as regards the communication means they used in the faculty, that phone costs increased, lines were mostly occupied, meetings took too much time and e-mails occasionally were not delivered. It was found out that academics requested that intra-faculty communication should be performed through a mobile device and should be given educative information as regards their professional development.   Keywords: Mobile application, mobile learning, intra-faculty communication, professional development, academic.

Internet based methods of communication are becoming increasingly important and influencing researchers’ options. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) technologies (such as Skype and FaceTime) provide us with the ability to interview research participants using voice and video across the internet via a synchronous (real-time) connection. This paper highlights the advantages of using Skype to conduct qualitative interviews and weighs these advantages against any limitations and issues that using this tool may raise. This paper argues that Skype opens up new possibilities by allowing us to contact participants worldwide in a time efficient and financially affordable manner, thus increasing the variety of our samples. At the same time, the use of Skype affects the areas of rapport, non-verbal cues and ethics by creating limitations but also new opportunities. The observations in this paper stem from two different researches, carried out by the authors, on dance (as a form of trans/cultural heritage) and wayfinding (the experience of getting from A to B in various settings). These studies lent themselves to using Skype for qualitative interviews, because of the need to reach an international, varied and purposeful sample. The researchers’ experiences, combined with feedback from participants in Skype interviews, are used in this paper. The conclusion is that, although VoIP mediated interviews cannot completely replace face to face interaction, they work well as a viable alternative or complimentary data collection tool for qualitative researchers. This paper argues that VoIP based interviews offer new opportunities for researchers and should be embraced with confidence.
